I own a lot of DVD's, streaming is great but in my opinion if you can't hold it in your hand you don't really own it and electronic versions of movies don't count. Also there are quite a few titles that aren't available on streaming but are on DVD. Anyway, I had two DVD storage towers for years that hold a lot of DVD's but I've outgrown them and obviously they've become very hard to find. I needed one that didn't take up a lot of space but held the rest of my DVD's (119 of them!). I came across this product and for the price I thought what's to lose. It turned out to be awesome; easy to put together, great quality for the price and it looks fine, and holds 120 DVD's! And it's very compact so it doesn't take up a lot of space. It comes with enough shelves to use it for CD's as well, I ended up with four extra shelves that I didn't need. If you've got a DVD collection (or CD's) I highly recommend it. Waste of time and money. pieces of the wood lament were chipping off as I took it out of the box. as you assemble it screws will fall out despite how tight or loose they are. parts are not labeled which make the bare bones instructions borderline useless. as I was standing up one half of the assembled unit 1 board cracked and another just snapped. I had to throw the whole thing out and I am now out nearly $100 when you factor in taxes. If you read this review and still buy this product you deserve all the misery it brings. it chips, cracks, scratches and breaks under the slightest use. Total garbage and a complete waste of my time and money. The one saving grace is I did not have the chance to put items of value on it since I am confident it would have collapse and damaged them. in my opinion this product is so bad that Amazon should step in and ban it from the site. I'd give it zero stars but that isn't an option. ... show more

Pretty good shelves. I had an issue when I built it, which was that I couldn't get a screw through the center hole. Since I couldn't tell, I pushed too hard and punched right through, splintering off a chunk. It's easy to do with this kind of lightweight particle board/cheap composite. I also suggest using hand tools rather than drills for that reason. Also because the wood is cheap and light, you might want to have some ballast at the bottom, like books. However, it does hold a lot of DVDs. It's about 5 feet tall, 2-2.5 feet wide and about 1 foot deep. The shelves are easy to resize, they aren't permanent, just some plastic pegs hold them in place. It won't bear much weight. Books MUST go at the bottom. It comes with a bracket to attach to the wall. If you have rowdy kids or animals, I'd suggest looking for something a lot more sturdy. I doubt this would survive a move. On building it, I'd give it about 7/10 on difficulty, which means that if you are good at building by pictures ONLY, you'll probably be ok or with a few mistakes. There are no words in the building instructions - none. But I'm a man. We aren't challenged greatly by this kind of thing. Notice in the directions it says something like 1 x 5 or 2x 6 or something similar, and the first number is the part, the second is the number of them. ... show more

I bought this expecting the worst from the reviews. However, I was pleasantly surprised! I've put together quite a bit of cheap do it yourself furniture over the years and this one was no harder or worse than any other. The pieces of wood are a little thin, so you do want to go a little slow so that you don't accidentally break out any of the wood by going crooked with a screw, but the finished product looks great. The back is even the nice newer style (just like the new Ikea Billy bookshelves) where it slides into place in notched grooves rather than being nailed on. I was hopeing it be sturdier when all put together but its kind of weak feeling like it could be easily broke. It also says it takes 30 minutes to build but it took me closer to 2 hours. I was also being very cautious and taking my time to make sure nothing gets stripped or damaged ghough, if rushed it could be done in an hour maybe, not no 30 minutes though. I wish the back panel was 1 piece vs 3 but I get it they do this to cut down on shipping costs and make it fit in a smaller box but I ended up with small cracks you can see light through. What I do like about it is that it doesnt take up much room. It will hold 95 dvds, 19 on each of the 5 shelves you end up with if thats your reson for getting this. Or you can put more shelves in and put whatever but for dvd's you end up with 5 that hold 19 dvds and a small slot for a tv series or somthing thicker with a few dvds in it. ... show more

This shelf sucks and it will make you sad but maybe it will do the job. The way each section is partitioned is asinine, as the lower third is shorter than the upper two, but if you want two shelves for CDs and the rest for DVDs, or all shelves for CDs, it will serve well. Why did you pick this product vs others?: It was a great price for what I was looking for. I use it to hold CDs and I have a large collection. Amazingly, I built them and the next day went to put the CDs on them and it looked to me like the shelves were already sagging in the center. Sure enough as soon as I started putting CDs the shelf started the sag in the center. I had to make Sims to put in the center of the shelves from the bottom to the top to hold them so they don’t sag. I understand it’s $64 But it was designed as a media shelf to hold CDs and DVDs and it would never do that with any quality very disappointed original plan was to purchase 4 of these, I did buy two and made the modifications, but will not buy anymore. Will look to avoid this company in the future very disappointed. ... show more
