  • Whisper Quiet
As far as sous vide machines go, this one works just as well as any of the other ones I've tried. I used to have a $200 Anova circulator that I bought in 2015 and that thing worked well, but it was pretty loud. I gave that one to my brother and I bought a generic $50 circulator which worked just as well, and that one was loud too. After 4 years of constant use, that one died, so I bought this Instant Pot one. It really is ultra-quiet. It was so quiet that I wasn't sure that it was working at first. And even though it's rated at "only" 800 watts, it's significantly faster than the previous two I've owned. ... show more

  • Does what it's supposed to do, reliably
Purchased for making the healthy gut yogurt acc. to Dr. William Davis's Wheat Belly diet plan. Since I have the Instant Pot and have been very pleased with it, this Sous Vide seemed a logical choice. It hooks on the side of the Instant Pot with insert, and is easy as pie to use. Nothing to add, works quietly and very grateful to have a simple, easy, reliable kitchen gadget - no complicated bells and whistles, love it. And the yogurt is great too! ... show more

  • Works wonders
Its a sous vide, it sous vides. It works well, is accurate, and easy to use. It also has safety features to make sure it doesn't burn up if the water level is low, a great feature. Entirely satisfied with the purchase.

  • Solid no frills sous vide
Love this device so far! I’ve used it about 5 times and it heats up quickly, is quiet, and is easy to set the temp. I didn’t want one that required an app or Wi-Fi because I didn’t want to deal with glitchy connections. Works great with Rubbermaid 12 Quart Plastic Square Food Storage Container but I also plan to use it with a 5 gallon bucket for large cuts. ... show more

  • Works and versatile
We use it with a giant stock pot. Added hot water as suggested by another reviewer so getting the water to temperature wasn’t hard. Also use a plate over the pot so the water didn’t evaporate as fast. So it doesn’t come with all the bells and whistles but makes it much easier to put away

  • Works great
I love this! I use it all least once a week. It takes little room to store. I use with a regular pot so that once done, I use water on my plants, rinse everything and store everything away.

  • This is the one you want, and here’s why
I spent a LOT of time researching sous vide cookers before buying this one. There are a ton of choices ranging from cheap and iffy, to overpriced and not worth it. The Instant Pot-company model is the one I chose and I am confident that it was the right decision. Disclosure: I do not do plastic bag-based sous vide cooking. I am fairly sure that in years to come we will realize that cooking things tightly wrapped in plastic is just not healthy. I use this cooker only with glass containers, which I am sure limits the performance a bit. But if you are fine with using non-BPA cooking bags, my findings will be relevant to you too. In my experience the four things you should judge a sous vide cooker for are (1) ease of use, (2) accuracy of temperature and timing settings, (3) noise level, and (4) durability. I haven’t had this cooker long enough to answer #4, but as for #1 the operation of this cooker was so intuitive and easy to figure out I didn’t even have to read the manual. Re: #2: - I have tested the water temperatures with a top-of-the-line Thermapen instant-read thermometer, and at multiple settings the readings were never more than 1 degree off. This is excellent compared to what you seem to get with some of the cheaper competitors - and super-important if for example you want to use your cooker to make yoghurt. Re: #3 - this cooker is really quiet, you hear only a faint whir from across the kitchen, and nothing at all from the next room. (Excessive noise is a big criticism of many competing models.) The one “drawback” of this model is that it’s not designed to be controllable via a smartphone app. But honestly, for me this is a positive. I have enough Bluetooth and Wifi radiation in my life already, and using a phone to control a kitchen applicance that’s ten feet away just seems brainless to me. If you think that one day you will want to adjust your cooking temperature after 2 hours by three degrees - while playing golf - maybe consider another model that costs twice to three times as much (yes Breville, I’m talking about you). But for most actual cooks, basing your sous vide cooker choice on smart-phone compatibility is just idiocy. ... show more

  • Even Better Than Expected!
This sous vide machine is very straightforward to set, is very quiet, and does the job. It is very accurate—I checked the water temperature with my high precision thermometer. I was prepared to like sous vidifying (I know that’s a made up word—just having a little fun) my food, but it exceeds my expectations. I heard that other machines are unbearably loud and I am extremely sensitive to noise. This machine really is quiet! It only emits a quiet soprano hum, sort of like an opera singer warming up by humming a high C note under her breath. Can’t even hear it in the next room. The clip is great—should work with any pot. I have cooked chicken, steak, and pork. They all come out with that incredible smooth, sous vide texture. ... show more
