Instant (the company) for all its popularity and ubiquity is still, in my opinion, seriously underrated. I won't say that this is the end all highest end cold brew maker/method of brewing. But it's definitely a well crafted, quality appliance and it's SUPER convenient. And it makes very satisfying cold brew in a fraction of the time. For the 20-30 minutes it takes, you get a very good result. And it's easy to store. You can use the pitcher for conventional cold brewing, though there's no reason to when the instructions tell you how to make a middle ground machine-assisted overnight brew (run for 5 minutes in the dock, then set in the fridge for 12-15 hours). It's optional, but the yield is nice and still quicker than the traditional 24 hour method. And you can cold brew tea. So it's nice to have a somewhat easy to store non-unitasker. I honestly want one for myself now. Lol. Cold Brew is less acidic than regular coffee, so it's great if regular coffee causes issues. Plus it's a strong brew. Ready for ice, cream or whatever you want to put in it. No 12 hour wait time. Fast and easy to use. Easy to clean. 10 out of 10!

Bought this for my MIL and she is in love with it! She said her cold brew coffee tasted so good and fresh. She could t be happier with this product. And she can make her cold brew so much faster than having to brew hot coffee then cool it

    • Great little machine
I bought this after reading reviews (I have 6 other instant pot products, so I am a fan). Very well packaged, easy to assemble. I got it primarily to make iced tea ( i bought Ahmad Tea Earl Grey), though I bought Stack Street coffee to make iced coffee. After cleaning the carafe and filter, I made my inital 32 ounce carafe of iced tea. It turned out great! I used one scoop of loose leaf tea with 32 ounces of water. It works by inserting a stainless steel basket in the carafe with the loose leaf tea or coffee, pressing the plus button to select the number of minutes you want to brew. When the time is up, the machine beeps. At the bottom of the steel basket, there is a spinning device that moves the tea around. It spins for about 5 seconds, and cycles several times during the brew. The spinning device is controlled by magnets in the base of the unit. After using the machine a couple times, it began making a very loud screeching sound. I thought "this is the price you pay to get instant iced tea." Then I decided to contact Instant customer care. They led me through some tests, had me video the machine in operation, then said I should return to Amazon. I told them that I would prefer returning it to Instant (knowing that I would get a run around on Amazon) and they got back to me saying they would send out a new unit. I said, I just need a replacement basket, everything else is fine, but they sent me a new unit. The new one is whisper quiet (hopefully it will remain silent). I Love this. It is so easy and makes great cold brew. You can either make it instantly in 30 minutes, or if you aren’t in a hurry, you can set it for 5 minutes, then take it off the unit and put in fridge overnight with the tube of grounds to make it stronger. So easy to use and easy to clean.

    • Returning and Not as Convenient as Described
I gifted this to my Dad for Christmas who drinks a glass or two of cold brew a day. I thought this would be an easier way than brewing with brew bags. Unfortunately, this product is a major disappointment. Cold brew has so much sediment in it after brewing that I now understand what muddy coffee means. Additionally, a tamper may have helped because there is so much water remaining in the grounds that there is no good way to drain it. No one wants to put coffee grounds down their sink or have a bunch of water in their garbage can. It’s not easy to clean by any means. I was so hopeful for this machine but I would not suggest purchasing this unit. The coffee is terrible and you will have quite the mess to clean up after each brew. ... show more

I love how quickly this brews, and it's very user friendly. But my problems with it are that it is not easy to clean at all, and that it leaks when I try to pour it. It had been like this since I first used it. It isn't cracked, and the handle to the pot can't be taken off so it can't be fixed. I just need to hold a paper towel under the rim every time I use it.     • Solid rapid cold brewer
I've had a few different "rapid cold brewers", and they all operate on the same basic principle of accelerating the soak by forcing more water through the material. All the ones I've tried so far have done their job fine, but tend to eventually have a mechanical failure because it's all moving parts, hence why I keep trying new ones when the last one breaks. This one is most similar to the "Dorotea" rapid cold brewer, with a magnetically driven stirrer built into the infuser basket. It does the job fine, and relatively quietly, although at first I thought it was broken because it only stirs in a rapid burst once every minute. However, this is as designed. I guess they think that the material only needs to be agitated periodically and then allowed to soak in more water in between. I'm hoping that the shortened run cycles will increase it's lifespan (that, and it all actually seems pretty solidly constructed). Might update later if/when it eventually fails, but probably only if it lasts less than a year. ... show more
