  • As described (mostly)
First impressions: A solid rack system with above average build quality. Fits my 2018 Subaru Impreza factory crossbars. Pros: Loading/unloading boards takes seconds. The locking mechanism adds a layer of security and convenience, especially when you're traveling. Though I won't be leaving boards on the car unattended for too long. Cons: Not enough rubber liners were included in the packaging. The crane system is a bit awkward and unnecessary in my opinion. There's a substantial amount of vibration at speeds over 65mph, especially with no board loaded. This might be mitigated with a few zip ties. These racks are not foolproof, they are a deterrent. A ne'er-do-well with wire cutters would only need seconds to ruin your day. Overall, this is a good solution if you're tired of messing around with soft racks or DIY rigging. I would have awarded five stars if all parts were included and or thicker tension cables were used. ... show more

  • Great product. Love it
It’s very sturdy and secured. Easy to install. Great to be able to stash my surf board outside my new Tesla. Comes with locking mechanism and keys. Did not want to stink up the inside over time like my old car. I had questions and customer service was great. Highly recommend it.

  • Good... in theory
So I looked around for a SUP rack that wasn't a fortune and would be easy enough for me to load. For reference I have a Honda Passport and I'm only 5 ft. So loading has been a bit of an issue. My board is 10.6 long and 32" wide. It weighs 28 lbs. Specs per manufacturer. I really liked the idea of this. Not having to swap sides and such, especially since I'm on the smaller side. This seemed like a good idea. And it mostly is.... Now, I did get a used version. When I opened the package it was clear that someone had at least tried to use it. I'm guessing they had the same issue I did in the end which is what's going to have me knocking stars off... Anyway... So someone had tried and in doing so, the metal "crane" pieces on the non ratchet end were bent. Which meant that when the rack was empty and you pulled everything towards flat, those crane pieces were constantly popping out of the rubber plate they loop thru. No amount of anything would keep them in. I finally sort of tied them down so they'd stop popping out. When I finally decided to load my board I realized that if you have a wider board, the cranes mean those pieces are straight up in the air. Which, especially if you are short, makes it nearly impossible to actually catch it with the loop so you can ratchet it down. Which means you're gonna have to do some side switching anyway. When you tighten everything, those cranes are pulled down and bend... Pretty sure this is what happened and why the former owner returned this. I had to pop them out just so I could get the pieces together to tighten them down. So now, with the board loaded, they are standing straight up. Which is a bit of an issue. One that doesn't have an easy fix short of just flat cutting them off. ALSO when them up like that, it constantly pops that locking mechanism that opens and gives you the quick release handle. Which worries me that it will pop open while driving... and then what? YIKES. I'm a little scared to get out on the road with this tbh. The system is just not as practical as they make it out to be. If you have a narrower board you'll do a little better I think. I'd say for me, 32 is definitely the max I could go with this on my rack (Crossbars are Honda factory bars). This was pretty easy to install. I think for the right board/kayak it could work. For me? Eh.... I'm not super impressed. I don't know how to deal with the issues at hand on this. ... show more

  • Flexible Loading System, Easy to Use, Faster to Secure Than Saddle/Strap Systems
Purchased the Inno rack after a recommendation from a kayaking friend who uses it to transport a sea kayak. I already have a Yakima rack system with Deckhand saddles to transport a sea kayak but needed something to transport a surf kayak and/or a paddle board. I was able to pair the Inno rack with my existing Yakima round cross bars and have found it is much easier and faster to load and secure the kayaks with the Inno system than when using the saddle/strap system. The Inno should also provide flexibility in being able to transport any one of my kayaks and paddle boards. With the previous setup of the Deckhand saddles, I could only use them to transport the sea kayak and had to remove them to transport the surf kayak or the paddle board. Having said this, in the month that I've had the Inno rack system, I have not actually transported anything other than the surf kayak so cannot provide feedback yet on how it handles transport of a sea kayak or paddle board. The expectation is it will work just as well with the sea kayak as it has with the surf kayak since my friend uses one to transport her 17' sea kayak and highly recommends it. I saved money by purchasing through Amazon Warehouse. The unit I received had original packaging that had been previously opened. The previous owner had partially put the rack together but, it looked like it had not ever been used. I finished putting it together and installed it on the car without any issues. The setup & installation is a little tricky so watch the video Inno has available. Once it is installed, it is very easy to use and I have been very pleased with the performance for transporting the surf kayak. The build quality of the rack seems to be solid although the cables are a little on the thin side. I have not, yet, transported anything at highway speeds but the surf kayak has been securely transported at local speeds reaching 45mph. Next week, I will be transporting a 16' sea kayak at highway speeds and will try to update the review with additional feedback. The only concern I have at this point is durability in regards to the cables and the rubber parts of the system which I'm not sure are replaceable if they wear out or break. With the Yakima system, there are replacement parts available if needed but with this Inno system, it appears a whole new system would have to be ordered if something breaks or wears out. Hopefully, this will be a moot point as my friend has been using her rack for at least a couple of years so perhaps durability won't be an issue. ... show more
