This is so much better than a cone for my sensitive Aussie recovering from spay surgery. The clinic staff inflated it and put it on, so I can't speak to that part of the experience. I love the soothing shade of blue and the soft fabric cover. The donut design doesn't impair her field of view much, if at all, and she's able to eat and drink without assistance and without getting it wet or dirty. She's a little frustrated when she can't get through tight spaces she's used to passing through, but it doesn't make a noise like a cone would, which is a big plus. Her nose does extend a little bit past the edge, so she's able to lick her hind feet and her bottom. Sometimes, if she really stretches, I think she can reach the tip of the incision, but she's easily discouraged from trying. One frustrating thing is that one side of the donut is a little narrower than the other, and that tends to rotate to the bottom, giving her more lick-access. If it were a uniform diameter, that wouldn't be a problem. Still, it's overall a huge QOL improvement over the cone! UPDATE: We made it through the 10 days. The donut collar effectively stopped her from licking her incision. One of the best features was that she was able to hold her chews in her paws, so she could enjoy some decompression time with chews. Something to look out for: one time she was scratching and flipped the valve open that deflates the collar! Luckily, I was right there. Inflating it is very easy because of the one-way valve. Turning it to have the valve on the front is a bad idea because then she thought about chewing on it - so keep the valve on the rear-facing side! Overall, I loved this product and would use it again (though I hope I never have to).

I have a female Rottweiler and the XXL fits well. She doesn't like a plastic cone - she'll back herself into a corner and stay there like she's stuck, lol. She only did that maybe 2 times woth the inflatable cone before she got used to it. No, she doesn't like it, BUT she will eat and drink with it on, sleep, go potty, etc. If you push REALLY hard, and I mean HARD, you can pop the little nozzle in and it will stay beneath the cloth surface. Honestly it doesn't really matter - it doesn't bother her at all. She likes it a little squishy - not all the way inflated - it seems more comfortable. When we fasten it with the velcro strip we leave a gap big enough for her neck so that when she lays down she lays flat. Keep in mind she is a senior dog with limited mobility to begin with. She can reach her front paws - and if she were more flexible probably her back paws, too. However, she can't reach the barrel of her body, her hips/thighs/back knees, etc. She also can't reach her upper arms on the front. She also cant scratch her ears or head. Works well for what we need it for. Also, for a bigger dog that gap in the inflatable part (where the velcro strap it) would be bigger and they may be able to reach more of their body.

This is very attractive and nice soft fabric. Easy to inflate by blowup like a balloon. It didn't sit well with my Aussie and he could chew it or tear it and get to his stitches so I took it off. He was less happy with this than the plastic cone even though this is clearly more comfortable. This would simply be too easy for him to deflate and render useless. If it's a less imperative situation you could use it. His was an expensive surgery and tearing his stitches open would be disastrous and also expensive. In a week when it's less catastrophic I might try again for his last cone week. This could work for minor situations or even a major one if he is not left unsupervised. My boy did calm down with it after a while. But must be supervised in serious situations not as reliable as plastic cone.

More crap to waste $25 bucks on. Bought it for my female GS. To stop chewing on a cut on her hindquarter. Not doing the job for what I bought it for in the first place. Should have just bought a big inner tube and but it on her head. I could have bought a really nice pair of socks for $25 bucks.

I love this alternative. It’s made such a difference after my fur babies neutering. Not only for my pup but for us too because he no longer was running into us with his cone (it hurt). He adjusted to the plastic cone they give but this gave him so much more mobility before this I had to hand feed him and give him water with a medicine syringe. It looks so cute on him. He’s brown so the yellow is complimenting him lol. I was questioning the size to get based on all the reviews I read. I ended up going with a medium because he was in between a small and medium but chose to go with the bigger size and it fits him perfect with collar! The price was worth my babies comfort and confidence. It’s helped him adjust to the restrictions but still be able to get back to his hyper independent self lol. The durability has been great. With use it starts to get soft but it’s ok because by that time which is about maybe a week at most then it’s ready for me to throw in the wash. Defaltes literally in a second after taking the plug out then when washed Blow it back up and wahlah! 🤎 It has a place to put your dogs collar on the inner part of it for a reason. Please learn from my mistake I was running late to work after taking my fur baby out since I live in an apartment. I take this one off and put the plastic one for outside so since I was running late I decided to hurry and put the cone on without his collar to save myself time well when I came home the collar was off but only because I didn’t put his collar on without it so please please please don’t do what I did. His incision was red. I am so grateful to God he didn’t open himself up and I learned my lesson. He is now wearing it with his collar and extended his healing time but it’s ok. This collar is amazing! I would recommend 100% Oh and one more thing yes the plug does stick out but I make sure to put the donut on where the plug is on the bottom and I position it where his chest is. It stops him from trying to go toward his incision and he can’t bite it and damage the cone. Hope this helps. 😊

Very prompt service! We needed it quickly after unexpected surgery - it was delivered to our house in about 13 hours! The collar seems to be less uncomfortable for our 75 pound Golden Retriever - than the hard plastic collars - and it prevents him from scratching the incision.
