  • Effective
These are incredibly similar to my hens’ eggs, which was great for the brief time where I had these eggs and when my hens were still laying (it’s winter now). They showed my hens there was more than one option to lay, which is a genuine problem for all chicken owners. They’re very durable and survived my kids getting into them, and you can tell by touch that they’re the fakes, so I don’t have to worry about mistaking them. ... show more

  • These really work! Get them!
These are really realistic eggs! My young pullets were laying all over the place until I popped these into the nest boxes. I am so happy with these!!! Now I’m getting lots of eggs in the nest boxes & none on the ground. Yay!

  • Great for Training Hens!
These wooden eggs are perfect for helping my hens figure out where to lay. They look and feel realistic, and my chickens quickly caught on. Super helpful for keeping eggs in the nesting boxes instead of random spots around the coop. Durable and exactly what I needed! Highly recommend for anyone with laying hens! ... show more

  • Wooden Eggs: Hen Trainers and Prank Masters
I grabbed these 6 wooden fake eggs to prep my nesting boxes—two per box in my three-box setup—since the hens are about to start laying. They'll be perfect for encouraging the girls to use the right spots without wasting real eggs. But the real fun? I snuck three into the fridge egg carton for a test, and my wife grabbed one for breakfast. She cracked away, confused why it wouldn't break right, then burst out laughing when she realized. Total win for realism—and now we've got a go-to prank for guests. They're well-made, look spot-on like fresh eggs, and should train the flock just fine. Great for coops, crafts, or decor too. 5 stars for the laughs and utility. ... show more

  • Super lifelike
Update- I only have 3 hens but they were molting and laying in constantly and one of them for a long time has been an egg eater. Before the molt started. Since adding these wooden eggs to the nesting boxes I’ve only lost one egg and that was within the first few days of them being there. Maybe like 3-4 days. Seems my rogue hen has learnt her lesson. Wooden eggs hurt the old beak when you try to bust them open haha I know someone whose review I read said they were difficult to tell from a real egg and I thought maybe they were carrying on a bit. But I was wrong and owe someone an apology lol The coloring is not flat and doesn’t look painted on, it looks like a real egg with subtle variation. It literally feels like a real egg! When I laid them in the girls’ nesting boxes I walked away without all my eggs. When they clink against one another, freakin sounds like 2 real eggs! They did realll good!mid give you more pics next to my real eggs but I ate them all lol ... show more

  • realistic looking wooden eggs
These wooden eggs are super realistic. Down to the size and weight and color. I bought this to play a prank on my wife. I bought a box of brown eggs and filled the empties with these and video recorded the prank. It was hillarious watching her trying to crack the egg and wondering what was going on. She even reached out for another egg and same result. These are great joke eggs to have around, though it will trick a person only once. Though it appears to be used mainly for tricking chickens to lay their eggs. The shape and size and color are identical to the real egg. You will be fooled by the looks for it. I appreciate that its made out of wood, so that when people try to crack it, it doesn't break. Great prank! ... show more

  • The hens fell for it right away
I got these fake wooden eggs to teach my hens to lay in the nest boxes instead of random corners of the coop. They worked right away. The eggs look real enough in color, size, and weight that the hens didn’t think twice about them. There is one in each nest shown in the photo. They’re solid, easy to wipe off, and the texture is spot on. The wood feels sturdy, not cheap or hollow, and they’ve held up great even with plenty of pecking and scratching. If you’re trying to train new layers or stop hens from laying all over the place, these are totally worth it. Simple, tough, and they do exactly what they’re supposed to. ... show more

  • Very close to a real egg.
In my photo I put the eggs next to some of our own real eggs to show the difference. The 6 fake eggs are on the bottom row and right row and a little bit more shiny. We have used these before. They work pretty well to try and keep the chickens laying where you want them to. The key is just to develop a habit of laying in the right place. It doesn’t always work but it does help. Some chickens just want to lay anywhere but where you want them to. We usually put a sharpie X on each egg so we know they are fake. The quality is good which believe it or not is important. Sometimes you get a chicken that kicks them out so they can become damaged over time. It’s helpful to start with a quality fake egg like these so they last longer. ... show more
