I wish I had known about this sooner, as having an enclosure that you can use to add outlets, bring cables in and out of, and clean up your living space while having a clean look is great. I like that you can paint the cover of this as well, just in case you want to make sure anyone that peeks behind your tv will be impressed. I got a shallow single gang box to drop into the enclosure and add some outlets and it worked out great. I don't have a cable box as I don't pay for anything beyond internet, but you could add one here--however I could see airflow being an issue in that case. Running streaming boxes might be alright, but overheating electronics leads to early demise so keep that in mind.

The BAD: 1. Lots of dust penetration, needs to be wrapped/taped inside to block whatever is in the wall. ESPECIALLY if you have fiberglass, or (dare I say it) bugs, in the walls. The GOOD: 1. Super lightweight (all plastic). I'd still recommend installing a blocking board below to support, if you have thinner wall surface. I put one above as well just to provide support (depending on what you cram in there) and air sealing support. 2. Fits just fine, no notching or shimming required. The flange hides the cutout 3. The cover is large enough that you can leave it off entirely if it's behind a TV that sits real close to the wall to help with cables and whatnot that would otherwise poke into the wall. Meaning you can mount superflat, super close. 4. Roomy enough to add ventilation (small fan and PVC pipe to help keep your stuff cool (I have a small switch in there too). 5. The cutout templates are plentiful and easily remove with just fingers. 6. Quality plastic build. I mean it "feels" flimsy at first, but once it's mounted between the studs it seems solid. Happy with this over the old metal one I had in place!

This media box compares well to name brand products like LaGrand and Leviton - but it doesn't seem to offer much more than they do. The price is about the same. I guess that at the end of the day, a plastic box is a plastic box. That said, this one will work as well as any others.

Installed this as shown horizontally. I knocked out two openings in the bottom. One for NM power cable though the box directly into a single gang Raco metal box on the bottom of the backbox facing up. The other has a Cat5 cable. It's on the wall in a bathroom for a tv/mirror (which I have not installed yet). Loads of room inside for power, internet and other cables.

I've been looking for something like this for a while now. I'm so glad that I have found this. It's big enough to actually house the cable modem. Older ones were a few inches smaller and could barely hold anything. This, on the other hand, holds si much!! I can finally put my cords and modem away for good. Highly recommended
