I've been using this for about 6 years now. The temp regulation is not precise. From what I can tell, it only heats at full power, and turns itself on and off to maintain a coil temperature, but the cycles are too long so the burner temp swings wildly. When you turn the temp up, it turns on, then gets way too hot before turning back off, then won't turn on again until it's way too cold. I've learned to cook fine with it by constantly turning the temp up and down manually, so you're getting what you pay for. It also turns itself on when in the off position, if the air temp is cool enough (maybe below 65F), which is disconcerting. So I have to leave it unplugged when not in use. ... show more

It cooks fine so I gave 3 stars. But I gave only 3 stars because it only cooks consistently for 10 minutes before it has to cool down (?). I’m not sure why. Maybe I missed that in the description. I 100% do NOT recommend for boiling anything like rice or pasta. Will LITERALLY NOT WORK.

Nice and convenient! Works good. I'm using this in place of my stove that broke. I guess I forgot how long an electric burner takes to get super hot to boil water. So used to propane. I'm sure this is great for camping, or an efficiency apartment. It works.....just takes a bit to get water boiling
