I got this for my Dad for his garage. His fridge doesn't have a water line so I figured this would be the next best thing for ice. It works great, produces ice quickly that can be put in the freezer right away. HOWEVER, if you leave the ice right in the ice maker, it will not keep it frozen. It isn't a cooler that way so you'll have to take it out and use it right away or put it in your actual cooler or freezer ... show more

Choose the Igloo for its reputation. We wanted the small cubes and this works great, easily wipes dry after use, drains easily, and produces rapidly. Purchased filtered(9) bottled water at local market to reduce calcification issues. No taste. The cube size seems to be altered by the initial water temperture due to the timer. Shuts off with red light when water level falls to minimum. Add water and continues the cycles. i have had 3 opal ice machines in the last 2.5 years and bought this machine to see how it stacks up. its not nugget ice but its not hard ice and its good for a nice soft crunch. it doesn't hold as much water as opal so i refill it more often but thats ok
