  • I am SO impressed with this little machine!
Style: CM5100
The media could not be loaded. I am no coffee expert. I love coffee but don't drink it everyday. If I do, it's usually instant coffee. Every now and then I splurge on a latte or flat white. But my bf is an everyday coffee drinker and after a trip to Italy, we realized it was time to upgrade our coffee routine with an espresso maker to give us the capability of making things like lattes. I did a lot of research and landed on this one because it was small, had a great price and seemed easy enough to use. Price: I didn't want to pay for the ridiculously priced machines, especially as an espresso beginner. For a little over $100, this gadget is a steal! Size: I don't have much counter space so the size of this thing is perfect. It doesn't take up too much space. Ease of use: As I mentioned above, I am no coffee expert and I was nervous about having to become a rocket scientist to figure out how to make good coffee. My friend has a fancy $700+ Breville and it did seem like he was performing rocket science when using that one. This machine is so simple to use. You just have to fill up the water tank, hit the power button, wait for the single and double shot buttons to stop flashing to indicate that the preheating process is complete(just a few seconds), put the coffee in the filter and lock it in place, and then select the single or double size. You'll have your coffee ready in less than 30 seconds! Can't get any easier than this! If you want to make some kind of latte or other espresso based drink, the milk steamer is also easy to use. Just pour the milk in the pitcher that already comes with the machine, click the steam button and wait a few seconds for it to stop flashing (preheating), turn the lever on the side to steam and you'll get steam! Move the pitcher up and down until your milk is as foamy as you want it. Just make sure the pitcher is already under the steamer when you turn it on because water and steam will go everywhere. I've had the machine for a few days now and have made a couple cups of coffee and it's so good! There's good amount of crema on the espresso and it's not bitter. I also found the manual to be very helpful, but it doesn't have recipes. So there is a little trial and error period/learning curve regarding the milk/coffee ratio. Not a huge deal as I've managed to eyeball it and still get excellent results but will be something I continue to research and play around with until I find the perfect balance. I definitely recommend this machine to other beginners. ... show more

  • Good espresso for the price, but has quirks
Style: CM5100
Right out of the box, make sure you prime the pump. The first few cleaning brews I did, there was no water coming out. The water flowed out of the water tank fine when pushing the spring stopper in manually, but not enough initially to fill the bottom of the reservoir on its own. I moved the water tank up and down watching the air bubbles go up and the bottom filled up with water. Once that water issue was solve, the preheat was quick and the espresso came out with nice crème. Typical operational noise for espresso machine. My major concern is the frother/steam wand is too close to the knob. You can burn your hand with the steam turning it off. Also, the 12oz pitcher that comes with it is too small and the foam rises up quickly. Try a 20 oz pitcher. I get that this is for home and is compact, but the skinny base makes it difficult to hold still while installing and removing the metal funnel with one hand. It’s very snug and the machine moves around easily. You will not be able to have cups sitting on top of the warmer, so that’s pretty much useless. Overall, Pros: nice to look at with the pressure gauge easy to brew with digital buttons espresso came out good Good machine for the price Cons: steam wand too close to knob Flimsy base due to compact design Hot water comes out in spurts through pump May need some manual help priming the pump. A little bit messy ... show more

  • It takes a little getting used to
Style: CM5100
I was buying to many cappuccinos so I decided to make them. Easy to set up and use. The knack is in packing the coffee right, steaming the milk, and the ratios of coffee, to milk froth, to flavoring ( I like vanilla). I live in a studio and it is compact yet delivers. recommend this.

  • The 20bar pump and steamer is the only way to go!
Style: Modern
Prior to buying this ICUIRE espresso machine, I used two of the more popular "All-In-One" espresso machines (with a milk reservoir) and I thought they did a good job making a latte, but then both these machines broke. Apparently, the weak spot has to do with the way the milk tank mates with the machine and/or how the milk mixing tube adds steams to froth the milk. What I learned along the way about choosing the best, cheapest, expresso machine are these things: * You definitely want a 20 bar pump over a 15 bar pump. * You don't need a high wattage machine if you get one with a frothing tube. All of them will produce steam in 20-30 seconds, but a higher wattage will make seam a little faster. * It's a little more work to make a latte using a steamer tube to froth the milk vs. a "All-In-One" machine which has a milk tank, but you can control the texture of the steamed milk froth better with the steamer tube and you can control the texture of the froth and temperature too. So IMO, the steaming tube is superior even though it’s just a little more work. However, if insist on the best latte, you want the ICURE with the steaming tube. I highly recommend this machine. It is priced low. Works great. And makes great expressos and lattes. In addition, the pump really extracts the expresso from the beans are never burns them. The grounds are always left dry after the extraction process; and it extracts the expresso so well from the beans I use the smaller dispensing cup to get the same blend. This saves coffee and money too! Note: At first, I did not like that my larger coffee cups would not fit under the dispenser, but then I realized I like separating my milk froth from the espresso; and now I don’t want to make an “All-In-One” latte, because it not as good as crafting your own latte using the stainless milk frothing picture that comes with this machine. (Note: I would be nice if this unit came with a bigger frothing picture, but this is a small point.) ... show more
