Features

  • 100% Nylon
  • Imported
  • Rubber sole
  • FAT is the insole if you are looking for maximum cushioning, perfect for shoes with a removable footbed. FAT is around 7 mm thick at the heel and 5 mm at the forefoot. A layer of temperature reactive foam takes a subtle mold of the foot
  • FOR TRANSVERSE FOOT ARCH: In the middle of a step, the whole body weight rests on the foot. The metatarsal pad then provides dynamic support to the front foot arch, thereby promoting its natural movement pattern
  • FOR LONGITUDINAL FOOT ARCH: As body weight moves forward, the foot arches are flattened out to absorb the shocks. The dynamics in the soles help the arches regain their natural form
  • FOR THE HEEL: In heel placement, the sole's soft layer is compressed, which gathers the fat pad into the heel and improves the shock absorption
  • SIZE: Choose your standard shoe size. If you fall between sizes, go up to the next size and trim to fit. TRIM: Trace the old insole on top of the Icebug Insole, then cut along the line to trim off the excess

Description

Funny name for an insole! Well, this is our most cushioned product. If you’re looking for an insole with maximum cushioning and shock absorption, then the fat is the one for you. Its extra layer of open-cell poliyou foam delivers extra cushioned comfort and support. The double-arc heel design cups the foot and reduces pressure on the plantar fascia. The low friction top cover is longwearing and easy to clean. Ideal for: hiking, running (higher volume shoes), walking, work boots, ski/snowboarding boots, or any high volume shoe. Available in three different arch shapes: high/med/low thickness: 5mm

  • The Best Ever, Very Comfortable, Effective Arch Supports.
Color: Blue High Arch Size: M 7/W 8.5-9
These arch supports are the best I've ever used and I am middle aged and have had custom orthotics made by a variety of sources ever since I was a kid. Flat, highly flexible feet and therefore over-pronation are a family trait so the kids that inherited this, got arch supports as we were developing in an effort to minimize the consequences. I noticed one of the top-rated reviews complained about the fabric covering; I don't think her experience is common. I have these insoles in all of my footwear, slippers, tennis shoes, river rafting shoes, hiking boots snow boots, etc. and have had zero issues with with friction wearing out my expensive wool socks either ultra lightweight or heavy expedition weight. Neither have I had any friction or heat issues against my bare feet in my tennis shoe style river rafting shoes, even after a 3 day rafting trip. Since the flat feet is a family trait and I have a large family, I've recommended them to many family members and all of them really like them, too. Another negative review mentioned that the heel is too wide for women's tennis shoes. My feet are narrow, an A width, so I usually wear Nikes tennis shoes as they tend to run narrow and I don't have any problems fitting these into my shoes. My husband has a totally different kind of feet, originally high arches, that have fallen, moderately flexible, with significant metatarsal damage from dropping a 70 lb. tractor weight on his foot 35 years ago. He's a construction surveyor in Montana and Wyoming and hiking 15 miles a day over very rough, mountainous terrain is very common for him. These are the best arch supports for him as well, in fact far better than the custom made supports the podiatrist talked him into buying years ago. Correct fit is definitely important though and to get the medial longitudinal arch (the long arch on the inside of your foot) in the right position he has to buy a size 13 arch support and trim it down for his size 10 1/2 foot. He has sensitive skin, clothing tags and laundry detergent frequently cause discomfort, but he doesn't have any issues with the fabric covering of the Icebugs either. And his merino socks don't wear out unreasonably quickly either. ... show more

Color: Blue High Arch Size: M 12
i'm disappointed overall. i've been having a lot of trouble finding a good arch support, something that won't flair up plantar fasciitis. i tried a dr scholls active, but they placed the met pad in a strange place and overall it was not comfortable. i researched and looked at every single device here, and this one had the least complaints all 5's for the most part. and i will tell you, these are comfortable, i still have to get used to them, but i give them a 5 for comfort. though the met pad is pretty high at first (imagine standing on a walnut shell). the device itself has a 1mm or so plastic/rubber like sole. its an intrinsic device that has a small built in heel post (i worked in an orthotics lab for a while). the black part extends to the sulcus level (right behind the toes), and the 5th met is cut out for some reason. though since that area on my foot always seemed to rub more, i guess that's why they did it? the met pad is both foam and indented in the shell. the bottom foam is sort of a dense closed cell foam, and the upper is open cell, the top is superman blue spandex. it seems to get dirty very fast, but your foot slides right in. the device seemed too wide, and it was hard to get it in the shoe, it wanted to crease in spots, but it went in. and fit the shoe without trimming. but... the edges are sharp. they feel like one of those blister packages. these are heat fused together and form a flashing. if you dare to remove the flashing, the foam separates from the rest of it, pretty easily. i wore these for only 20 min, and it formed a blister. it took a bit of work, a combination of sanding it down and flaring it out with a heat gun, but i think i have it ok now. but for $46, i expected a rolled edge or something softer. and smoother. part of my feet seem to sort of bunch out a bit when i stand and that's what's rubbing. if i had to do it again, i would probably try mid arch, maybe it was that the device was just a little too high. its hard to know without comparing them. would i get these again? they are expensive and at this price i expect to get a lot of use. but i don't see that happening, i'd probably start with a cheaper thing and work up from there, or build it up from there. i would expect to pay about $30 for this, if that. maybe i will get very used to these, but i would only get it again if they fixed the edging. ... show more
