It's great that this isn't larger because it would be so easy to over indulge. lol. It was so easy to use and my 5 year old enjoys making creative flavors of ice cream. We use minimal ingredients and it's so much healthier than a lot of store bought brands.

The media could not be loaded. I don't eat a lot of ice cream, but I do crave it sometimes and this little cutie solves that problem as long as I have heavy cream(aka whipping cream) around! It can make about 2 normal size bowls. Do not try to double a recipe or it will be a mess! My first effort was a complete failure as I tried to follow the directions precisely. I used choc syrup instead of whatever chocolate they were thinking of(it didn't say)and I used soy milk instead of regular milk. I ended up with a runny milkshake type thing. So second time around, I stuck with the basic vanilla recipe. I only had 1% milk, so I substituted cream for a quarter cup of the milk. I also substituted monkfruit sugar for the white sugar. (I try to cut out a little white sugar whenever possible) As you can see in the video & pictures, it turned out like a very thick soft serve ice cream & tastes terrific.😋 I don't recommend doing the "heating" step in the chocolate recipe. It was useless & I think it messed up the consistency. Also, don't whip the cream at all(the recipe required it as one of the steps prior to combining the ingredients). It really doesn't need it. The noise level is not bad. You can hear it in the video and that's because my phone is right up next to the motor. I can't hear it from the next room anyway. I don't stand there for 30 minutes waiting😂 I just keep the bottom section in the freezer for whenever I might feel like making some ice cream. That way I don't have to put it in & wait 8+ hours before use. It doesn't take up much room.

I bought this to make ice cream with my 4 yr old daughter. She LOVES this thing. She keeps talking about how the little penguin makes ice cream. Definitely recommend for a cool activity. Also something to learn patience as she has to wait for the ice cream to make and then freeze!

No having to deal with salt and ice. Just freeze the tub several hours before, then add in your ingredients and turn it on. It only makes small batches of ice cream, which is perfect for singles/small families. I made a tofu- and almond milk-based ice cream and it turned out perfectly, so feel confident in using this for recipes that aren’t milk-based.

Making homemade ice cream with my family sounded like a nice idea, so I decided to try this kid-friendly machine, which was affordable ($32). I quickly read the instructions but missed the key part that reads, 'Turn on the machine first!' The paddles wouldn't spin, the ice cream was already frozen in the bowl. We washed it out and had to refreeze it for another night. On the next run, I tried to make a double batch that would be enough for 3 (2 adults, 1 little) but it was too much liquid and couldn't fully freeze before the bowl thawed out. As they say, third time is a charm! We (finally) made vanilla ice cream topped with sprinkles for my daughter's sleepover. It comes with the penguin bowl, motor, lid, and paddle (not pictured). Also inside will be a recipe book with different ideas for ice creams or yogurt bowls. I wish it was slightly bigger. But one thing to note is the bigger the bowl, the more room you need in the freezer. You would probably need to clear an entire shelf. Honestly haven't used it much.

If you're using this machine, I feel like the experience hits somewhere between rock-salt-and-a-ziploc, and built-in-compressor machines. For this little guy, you still mix up all your ingredients on the stove, chill, then pour them into the running machine. And even then, the ice cream needs to be set aside in the freezer to harden. It's not a fast, instant process. However, this is a small version of this kind of appliance, and I like it for the fact that the bowl doesn't take up too much space in my freezer in the chilling phase. Because the metal bowl is part of the base, and the motor is enclosed in the lid, this machine can be a little bit difficult to clean, but since I don't make ice cream often, I don't have to clean it often, either. I do wish the paddle was a bit sturdier, as it bends a bit when the ice cream gets more solid, and it feels like it will break one day. So far, it's holding up. I like the taste and process of homemade ice cream, and I'm glad to find a device that doesn't take up too much space in my kitchen.
