Put I. A dewalt dcd999 and this cut through the ice faster than my gassers any day. I was skeptical at first to go to the drill type auger but have been sold with the lightweight, compact, effortless drilling this auger provides. Only thing that may be a bummer is the blades are not replaceable at this time.The price is great though as other drills of more name brands are 3 times the $$! ... show more

This is a decent Ice Auger. It's really light, which could be nice, but. I think if you want the most reliable ice auger you would want steel vs plastic that could easily break. Power drive and plastic don't always mix well. I have a Ryobi Earth Auger and it has a 3/4 inch shaft, so this is not a fit directly, but I also purchased a 3/4 to 1/2 inch adapter to make it work. The Ryobi Ice Auger blade was 3 time the cost of this one with the adapter. This will work for now, but, I could see potential for the plastic to break. Overall a decent price, but I can't give it more than 4 starts. The Good: - Blades are sharp and rip through the ice nicely. - Comes with blade guards - Comes with Square shaft adapters - Will fit most Ice Auger motors with 1/2 inch shaft - Light The bad: - Plastic blades that could break in the frigid cold of Northern MN. - Need extra adapter for 3/4 inch shaft motors (not a big deal). I live this auger. It is light weight but does not mess around when it comes to cutting ice. My drill is a little under powered for the job but the auger worked great. It has no issue cutting 18 inch ice. I can’t believe I waited so long to buy this.

I cannot find replacement blades for it. It works really well but when your blades get wore out, you cannot find anymore! But when you have good blades, it drills through 12" ice in seconds!
