The brim is a little wide for a smaller baby, but that's easy to fix with a safety pin. The material is lightweight and the liner material is very comfortable and breathable. My daughter is 22 months old. The hat fits her well. The hat is very light, and it has really wide brim to protect her from the sun. Once the strings are tightened, the hat is secured on her head. I like the flowers pattern on the hat. It's just a lovely girly summer hat. But with a two year old, nothing can stay on her head for long. I bought this for my 5 month old. It's a bit large for her little head, but she'll grow into it. Plus the chin ties help it to snug around her head anyway, so it's not that bad.
