we bought the 9-18 Months for my 15 month old daughter. it fit her great!! after first receiving this product, it was honestly perfect. i loved it! then i took it to an outdoor fountain the next day and that's when the flaws started to come along.... 1. this hat is not meant to get wet (drenched)!!! it's mostly used as a sun hat and i wish i knew this before. i took it out to an outdoor fountain with my daughter and it totally defeated the purpose of shading her from the sun because it got all floppy...i attached a photo of this. 2. after the fountain, i washed this because it was stinky of sunblock and sweat and dirty water. i read the instruction and only put it on a gently cycle and air dried. and even after following that, it is STILL floppy!!! it's constantly covering my daughter's eyes and she's always trying to take it off because of it. i NEVER had an issue with floppy hats with other brand of hats!! and i have purchased a few from target, gymboree and even gap!! they all survive the wash and still retain its shape. but NOT THE IPLAY!! however, it could be my fault, because it got drenched and destroyed in the fountain and i didn't wash it right away. but then again, i didn't have an issue with other name brand hats. 3. the drawstring for the head doesn't really work for us. it might just be our hat but even when i pull it on my daughter's head, it EASILY gets loosen again. i'm constant retightening and in the end, i just give up. i REALLY wanted to love this hat...it was cute and so afforable!! but i honestly don't like how the hat gets floppy after getting washed. it's honestly the worst. however, i could be doing something wrong and i would LOVE for someon to point me to the right direction but i WANT to love this hat. but at the moment, this hat is a NO for me. and i won't buy it again the only way i would ever repurchase this hat is if i ONLY used it as a sun hat and NEVER washed it. ... show more

Where I live is super sunny all year. Very important for my baby to have protective hat. This hat covers her head and is easy enough to get on, however, potential buyers please be aware of these concerns: 1) my baby was 11lbs at 6 weeks and her head is far from small for size, if anything, it's a bit on the larger side. This hat was far too large for her at 6 weeks. It only began to be able to be worn at around 9 weeks (and my baby, at point was measuring 2 months ahead in size). As such I would say the 0 to 6 month size is better described as 3 to 6 months. 2) the rim is too floppy (she is now 3.5 months - measuring at average height of a 6 month girl) and yet the hat rim is too long and floppy. If i am walking around with her, I constanrly have to move it out from her lower face ... show more

I really wanted to love this. It's really cute on but after using it a handful of times the fabric has started to mildew. My baby did wear it while in the water ( The reason we bought it ) and it did get wet. After each use I laid it out to dry alongside our towels and swimsuits but this is what happened. Very disappointed. If there were specific drying instructions or instructions not to get this hat wet then I must've missed them. I tried to wash out the mildew using Dreft a stain remover and detergent but it looks exactly the same as it did before I washed it. ... show more

It is cute and my 11 month old daughter doesn't rip it off nearly as often as a hat with velcro. I agree with the review that says it's not meant for water play, though. Even a brief sprinkler gigglefest wound up with it super saggy/floppy and over her eyes. I also bought the 9-18 month hat when she was around seven months old and it fit her well (both of my kiddos have 95-99% head circumferences, so we buy hats pretty large) with sliding the brilliant toggle strap under the brim. Now that she's 11 mos., though, it's too small so we'll be buying the 2T size for the rest of the summer. ... show more

In my experience babies don't wear hats unless they are tied on. This hat not only has the ties under the chin which work perfectly, it also has an adjustable tightening elastic around the head where the hat and the brim come together. It looks adorable and more importantly, it does the job of keeping sun off babys face, head and shoulders. Highly recommended. It fits my one year old who has an average size head, and it would fit him great if he had a small head or a big head. In addition, the bright orange color is easy to pick out quickly. A big plus for a parent of 5 Littles with lots to keep eyes on. *update Baby is now 2 years old and the hat shows no signs of wear and still fits great! I can see it fitting well for at least 2 more years however he'll be able to untie it then lol ... show more

I ordered this hat because of the reviews. I was a tad bit skeptical because of some of the sizing reviews. Once I got the sun hat I put it on my three month old who is in the 50th percentile for her headsize. It fit great! It was a little loose, but once I tied the straps under the chin it didn’t matter. This hat fits our 7 month old perfectly. She has a little bit bigger head. We are in Kauai during December, the sun has been shining but not burning any of us. I am confident it keeps her whole head and face shielded from the sun, as well as her shoulders and some chest and back. The only reason I don’t give five stars is because it does make it a little hard for her to look around, but that’s part of why it works so well. I ordered this hat for my then 3 month old for the beach, and it was not only adorable but it did its job, which was the most important part. I like the size that you can alter by tightening or loosening the drawstring around the head part of the hat. It also has a nice big brim that's sturdy and doesn't flop down.
