  • Works great for HTC Vive ceiling mount.
It took me about 5 hours to find the right way to do it with my setup, but after doing it it works great! I've lost maybe 2 inches of playspace on the edges due to the length of the retractors but it is way worth it. I just tried holopoint which is pretty much the 'torture test' game for cord management setups. I barely even noticed the cord (it hit my head a few times from above, but never got in the way). If your setup is smaller than mine (around 4 meters lengthwise) you won't have this issue at all. I've had the vive since day 1, so I had gotten used to just walking around the cord and dealing with it, but with Fallout 4 I found I was doing a lot of turning rapidly to go up staircases and it was getting annoying. This solved that issue entirely. The way I have it set up is with 2 of them in the same place and attached pretty close to the vive itself on the cable. That way, it has enough retraction force to pull the cable back out of your way when you come back but you still don't feel it tugging on you. Make sure you set those two up right in the center of your room. I originally put them basically all the way down lengthwise as I had a bunch of extra cable from the extensions that I use and wasn't thinking. I have the rest of them set up along the ceiling just keeping the cord in order with no problems. The sticky pads are more than sticky enough. The sticky things on the actual retractor things are also more than sticky enough if you choose to skip the pads. ... show more

  • Works!
This works well. It takes a little time to find just the right spot for each one, but once you get it the product functions as it should. I ended up only using 3 of them for the area I use (aprox 6’x6’). I also used an achored hook instead of the included stick on hooks. I don’t think the stick on ones are bad, but I had the hooks and the ability so I did. Also people have complained that the wire just slides around in the hook, well if you zip tie the wire to the first hook coming off your computer, the wire doesn’t move around so much. All in all, worth the money and helps the current wire situation. ... show more

  • Works well at first...
The clips it comes with are awful - just to get that out of the way. They're about as bad as it could get. Next, the adhesive is dangerous and if you're not going to be willing to spend (and I'm guessing here) 5 minutes heating this up with a hair dryer and carefully removing this from your walls or ceilings I wouldn't recommend this. One peeled off on its own and I saw no damage on the wall but I trust the other reviewers enough to not risk the damage. Finally the cables simply aren't strong enough. Once they go down they don't go up until all pressure is removed. This means that you'll be stuck with a loop of lax cable just drooping down and waiting to noose you. Even if it doesn't you've got it hanging from your back, your shoulder, and so on. It's not pleasant. I had to run this 3 feet behind my play-space and even then I'm still having this problem. I even ran this up my wall from my desk to prevent: These are ugly. No way around it. They just are. It's unsightly. I have to use a broom handle with a screwdriver ran through its "hang me up" hole so I can pull these down and remove the cable from them just so that they don't make me look like a completely slob. No amount of cable management is going to save you with these because they just dangle and droop your cable. The tension adjustment (in my case) did nothing. Final Verdict: These were great at first - the first week I thought I'd never want to go back - but very shortly afterward these became way more trouble than they're worth but now I've got an extension cable for the HDMI and and extension cable for the USB 3.1 and ergo will have excess cable if I don't do this - a tripping hazard - or have to remove them and simply accept the wasted money as a learning experience. I don't think that hanging cables from the ceiling is a bad idea entirely but without any pull - or even any grip on the cable - these are going to be a massive headache to use and remove. I've even tried doubling them up and spacing them closer together and blah blah blah. Doesn't matter. They're way too weak and have no grip on the wire -and I'd like to clarify this as it's important: Imagine this problem as a gentle game of tug of war. You don't want to not be able to move or to be pulled into the ceiling - you just want all of the excess cable to be gently (no damage to the ports) lifted upward and for all of the slack to be distributed nicely as to prevent sag and whatnot. So step one is making sure the lift is there. You don't want the cable on the ground. This fails at that. Step two is making sure the cable gets "pulled back through the loops" and that's just not possible with this method. There is no "pulling" the cable toward your PC. There is no "tug" in this tug of war. Only lifting above the ground and "letting the rope slip" whenever any force is applied on the other end. Solving step 2 is going to likely require that our cables get loops of some sort. Like backpacks, jacket tags, or even just like a double zip-tie with some electric tape to prevent it from shifting (albeit that tight zip tie would be dangerous to remove due to the risk of cable cutting). I hope that this was helpful. ... show more

  • Does not work as indicated.
Where to start? The ceiling hooks attach to the ceiling and then you hang the lanyards from the hooks. The instructions dictate as much. Only, you can't attach the ceiling hooks to the ceiling if the adhesive is stuck to the backs of the lanyards and not the hooks. I had to buy ceiling hooks and drill them into the joists in my ceiling, in order to hand the lanyards. ... show more

  • Cool product, maybe include rubber bands?
Cool product. I have seen others that hold the cable in place better. The cable slides a bit too much due to the clips it uses. Otherwise a cool product. I recommend you get some type of rubber band to hold your cable in place, otherwise there is too much slack and the clips slide around and may bunch up. I do like the large flat stick plates that hold it to the ceiling. The glue seems very strong and so far, so good. You can't use on a popcorn ceiling though. You need a solid surface. ... show more

  • Great if you have gorilla tape
The structural integrity and design of these are great. The problem lies in the adhesive used. Holding a normal cable from the ceiling was too much for it. I had double-sided gorilla tape, and that fixed the problem. Still, if I didn't, I would have returned it. Doing that makes them perfect.

  • Here for VR reasons? This is exactly what you need.
First off, they work great. If you’re here for VR needs, these are what you need. I, like many others, purchased these to run my Oculus Rift cable across my ceiling and down to me rather than strewn across the floor with me tripping over it and getting one or both legs wrapped up in it. I’ve installed them and they work fantastic. I just want to clarify something. Someone posted a review saying they can’t use them as advertised because the factory put the adhesive on the pulley rather than the mounting plate. Not 100% true. While there is double sided adhesive on the pulley there is also a MUCH stronger adhesive on the mounting plate which is covered with a clear plastic film that you’ll need to peel off to make use of. ... show more
