The HyperDrive Thunderbolt 3 USB-C Hub converts the Thunderbolt 3 ports on a 13" or 15" MacBook Pro into additional connections. The HyperDrive features a slim design to match and directly attach to the side of your MacBook Pro. When connectedto the MacBook Pro's two Thunderbolt 3 ports, the hub provides two USB 3.1 Type-A ports along with a USB Type-C port to access printers, external drives, and other USB-outfitted peripherals. For transferring content from digital cameras, microSD and SD card slots are available. There's also an HDMI port, so you can directly connect a TV or monitor without requiring an adapter. Another notable port on the hub is a pass-through Thunderbolt 3 port,so you can daisy chain multiple Thunderbolt 3 devices, such as 5K displays, external GPU enclosures, and more. Works just fine. Light, compact and gives you the ports you need with the new M1 MacBook Pro. HOWEVER...it really needs a Gigabit Ethernet port and doesn't have one. If you try to go with a version that has one, then you lose your SD port. This sucks because photographers have to choose between the convenience of downloading photos from your SD card or the convenience of uploading images to your cloud.     • Doesn't fit a 16in MacBook Pro
The magnetic piece is supposed to keep the dock in place but it doesn't work at all. The magnetic piece isn't wide enough to accept the body of a 16in MBP so the USB ports do not connect fully and it just doesn't work. Would not recommend at all

Great hub. Had this thing for a long time. I use it all the time to connect my mouse, keyboard, and my external hard drive to my 2019 MacBook Pro. It’s fast and slick. I do use the external cable just so it’s a bit far from my Mac so it’s harder for me to accidentally hit it since my Mac is on a item that slants it. Would 100 percent recommend if you need to run a lot of things at once. Just be aware it can get a little warm sometimes if you use all of the slots at the same time otherwise it’s fine! ... show more

    • Not flush when closed
Reviews say this is flush mount to my Mac air. But in reality the Mac will lot close when attached. So using the extension cord is mandatory. Very disappointing.

    • Not the most sturdy connection
The hub works overall, and looks nice, but after around 2 months of use, the biggest issue I've run into is the connection isn't very secure. This is the case both connecting the hub directly to the computer, and using the included extension cables. If the hub is bumped or your move your laptop, there's a good chance of the port losing power. this is especially problematic when using an external Hard Drive, as the drive could at any point be suddenly disconnected. This hub is extremely overpriced as far as I can tell and is just OK. ... show more

I bought one of these last July and it has stopped working today (May 14, 2021). Took forever to get here (for starters), shipping information was not accurate (showed as leaving the warehouse one day but actually didn't leave until 4 days later when I asked them questions). Save yourself about $100 and get the competitor which costs 1/3 to 1/2 less. ... show more

The magnetic grip makes it so that the hub does not power up on my 16" MacBook Pro. You can see in my picture that the light is not on. Also the grip and extension cable don't fit in the pouch when the hub is in there too. It would be helpful if that pouch was just a little bit bigger so that all of the accessories can be packed up together. Otherwise, solid design and function. ... show more
