It’s a great accessory that will allow me to access a usb drive and charge my iPad simultaneously. However it doesn’t fit with the protective case I have for my iPad, so I will be adding an extension cord.

    • Great for most - not for musicians/audiophiles
This hyperdrive is small, portable, and snaps right onto the side of the iPad Pro. If you have a case, it doesn’t work without an extension cable (the 3rd party one I bought didn’t work, so I returned it). When plugged in directly, everything worked-ish. The audio converter for the headphone jack is noticeably poor; significant lack of extreme lows, and miss (music sounds hollow like you’re listening to it through a phone call). Apple’s USB-C adapter is significantly more accurate. So I tried plugging that into the USB-c port on the hyperdrive; no luck, it didn’t even recognize that I had connected “headphones”. The USB-A port worked great for connecting an audio interface and monitoring through the interface into various apps. In the end, just wasn’t going to work for me, but I could see it being great for many others. ... show more

While the unit works as intended, it has, in my opinion, one major defect. If you use a case for your iPad, you must take the iPad out of the case to use the hyperdrive.

Did not fit well with the keyboard case. Was working well for the first month, but now will not charge the iPad. Not sure why. Easily falls out of the slot when moving the iPad around.

    • I had high hopes for this device
I had really high hopes for this device. I ordered this one instead of the one from Apple. I liked that it had a USB and that it connected directly to my iPad Pro 11. I gave my first HyperDrive about a week before I contacted their customer support line. It did not connect well at all to my iPad and the monitor to which it was connected would blank out frequently while it was in use. Their customer support rep was gracious and advised me to return it to Amazon for a replacement. She felt the one I had was defective. I had my replacement the next day. I plugged it into my ipad and it seemed to be a more solid fit. I was hopeful that improved fit was a sign that the first one had a small figment flaw and I plugged a USB, USB-C cord and an HDMI cable in. Within a very short period, it blanked out. I thought, “Well, maybe that was a fluke.” Unfortunately, it wasn’t. It is still blanking out constantly, so both are now being returned and I’m going to buy the Apple connector. This product is a literal paper weight, after one month of use the device has failed and none of the ports work. Do not buy and do try to leave a review on there website. If the review is less than 4 stars it actually is never seen by the public. Also on a side not the hub i got from Anker that is equivalent to this one works way better and has not had a single hiccup. ... show more

I'm a huge fan of HyperDrive, coming from using their more recent adapter for the MacBook Pro to their newest for the iPad it's been a plug-n-play experience. In testing on the iPad Pro (2018), the adapter works amazing well and is slim enough to work with most cases that allow the frame of the iPad to be exposed (such as Apple's own Smart Keyboard). Important note about cases, if you're using a case with a shell, this adapter may not work. It's designed to grab on to the frame and there's no flex in the prongs that keep it in place. One could trim the prongs from the adapter though you'll likely void your warranty and hitting the adapter may result in the USB plug bending and causing damage to the adapter and device. That said, if you need USB-A, HDMI, and a headphone jack for your iPad, this is a great and affordable option. It'll be in my travel bag for sure. ... show more
