  • The Chair That Made Me Taller… and My Desk Jealous
Size: Foot-Ring Color: Black
The chair is sturdy, yet very comfortable. It has a reasonable range of height, rolls easy, turns easy. The arm rests are comfortable, perfect size for any arms. And it looks very good, the black/gray combination is always stylish. The assembly is very easy even for inexperienced users.

  • Awesome chair! Awesome company with awesome customer service!
Size: Foot-Ring Color: Black
UPDATED REVIEW # 2 (December 18, 2023): Well, after an initial 5-star rating and a subsequent drop to 4 stars after the gas cylinder started to fail, I'm raising my rating of the Hylone High-Back Mesh Ergonomic Drafting Chair BACK to 5 full stars. Here's why ... After months of dealing with a failing gas cylinder that caused my chair to slowly sink or suddenly drop without warning, it finally got so bad last month that I had to decide whether to a.) live with the chair permanently in the "down" position, b.) buy an aftermarket brace that would permanently lock it in the "up" position, c.) replace the cylinder, or d.) buy a new chair. Options A and B were nonstarters because I need the chair to be able to go up and down to accommodate work surfaces at various heights. Replacing the cylinder felt like the simplest and most economical solution, so I contacted the manufacturer to confirm the size and type of cylinder I needed. To my amazement, they not only responded quickly (within a day), but instead of providing me with information about the type of replacement to buy, they simply offered to send me a replacement cylinder free of charge. Apparently I've grown jaded and cynical in my old age (42), because I just assumed that after nearly 3 years, no manufacturer would take ownership of a defective component. I am so happy to be wrong. In fact, the whole experience has restored some of my faith in humanity (not all of it, but some of it). And after installing the new replacement cylinder, my chair works like a dream again. It was like meeting up with an old friend you haven't seen in years. Ahhh.... That said, removing the old cylinder was a whole saga unto itself, and I have the bruises to prove it. However, despite the interminable and epically frustrating cylinder-ectomy procedure, I will say that the effort was ultimately entirely worth it. It just required a lot of patience, a lot of loud metal-on-metal pounding with a hammer, and about a gallon of WD-40. Based on my unexpectedly incredible experience with Hylone customer service, I can say that when I'm finally ready to upgrade to a new model, I will definitely be looking to Hylone. It's a breath of fresh air to encounter a brand that stands behind their products, especially when they haven't even been asked to do so. Not only did they offer to send me the replacement free of charge, but an actual human being followed up with me a few days after the new cylinder was delivered to make sure that I'd received it, that the installation process went OK, and that the replacement solved the problem. Like, what other company does that anymore? If I could, I'd give them 6 stars! UPDATED REVIEW # 1 (November 22, 2023): After 2½ years of use, I still LIKE this chair, but I'm not loving it nearly as much. I'm removing a star because for the last year or so, the gas lift has only "lifted" when it's apparently in the mood to cooperate. While it still goes up and down as it should when I lift the lever on the underside of the chair, it rarely stays *up* anymore. I'll be sitting in the chair doing work, when all of a sudden, it'll drop like a broken elevator, giving me a small heart attack. Other times it will slowly lose height until I'm reaching UP to the surface of my desk to type, like a toddler trying to reach the cookie jar on top of the fridge. For the record, I'm 165 lbs. and have not gained any weight since my purchase, so it hasn't been under any extra strain lately. I only mention this because that's the first question my father asked when I called him to see if he had any "Dad fixes" for a sinking office chair. "Well, have you gained any weight, son?" *face palm* I suppose that one can purchase replacement gas cylinders, but it seems like an unnecessary expense and a lot of hassle for a chair that's not that old. Since the chair moves up and down much farther than most other office chairs, I don't even know if a standard cylinder replacement would work on this one without having to sacrifice several inches of height – so that'll definitely require research. I also know that there are aftermarket devices that one could buy that lock a sinking chair in the UP position, but that's not really an option for me, because I need to have the ability to move the chair back down again, depending on the type of work I'm doing. So, there are no easy solutions. Is this a deal-breaker? No. At the end of the day, is it just a petty annoyance? Probably. There are more pressing issues in the world at the moment than my sinking chair. And I will be keeping it, because there's a lot to like about it, aside from its inability to rise to the occasion when I need it to. But it is disappointing – and something to consider for anyone looking to purchase this chair. ORIGINAL REVIEW (March 7, 2021): I was hesitant to buy this chair at first, but what a great purchase. The foot rest alone was worth it. The height is perfect. It looks sharp. And I love the fact that the arms fold up and down. There are only two things that could make this chair better in my opinion: 1. The assembly could be a little easier. It's not difficult to put together, per se, but the instructions aren't quite explicit enough. I put a couple pieces on backwards at first because the technical drawings were a little hard to interpret and the pieces weren't labeled. Easy enough to figure out, but required a little more time (about 45 mins) and patience than I'd anticipated. 2.. The casters are a little stiff, so it doesn't glide as easily as I'd like on plush pile carpet. It rolls, but it requires some real effort. Those minor issues aside, I'm really happy with the purchase. I haven't enjoyed sitting at my desk this much in ages. ... show more

  • Ok for the price, a little wobbly at weight limit
Size: Foot-Ring Color: Black
Overall seems good quality and comfortable, acceptable for the price . My biggest beef is that the top of the chair wobbles a bit. Like many, I replaced the casters with larger rubber wheel casters ($25 here). A minor disappointment is that the seller's instructions for adjusting the tilt tension are from the opposite perspective as I look at things, and the adjusting knob stripped. (See below for details) Just finished assembling. It was fairly easy. It's helpful to have a multi-tip screwdriver with Allen/hex tips so you don't have to use the included little tool. I used the printed instructions (attach both arms to seat and then attach back) and it worked for me, but now that I have watched the video, I think the video method (attach one arm to seat, attach back to that arm, attach 2nd arm to back, then attach that arm to seat) is probably the better way to go! Also to reduce confusion with the washers: Arms to seat: long screw, large washer Back to arms: short screw, small washer Plate to seat: short screw, large washer Like other people have mentioned, I also had a problem with the tilting at first. To solve: 1) make sure the lift handle is pulled outwards to the "free" position 2) realize that when the seller says clockwise to loosen, it's from the perspective of sitting in the chair and facing down. If you're looking at it from the perspective of facing the knob, as I do, you want to go counter-clockwise to loosen the spring tension. 3) IF you have the opposite perspective and in an attempt to loosen the tilt, you tighten the knob clockwise (facing knob) too far like I did (before realizing the directions were from the opposite perspective), the screw shaft will extend out the bottom of the plastic knob (popping out the center cover). And also you might strip the part of the plastic knob that grips the metal nut, like I did, meaning it's stuck in the super-tight (no tilt) position. I had to break the plastic knob to remove it from the assembly and then use channel lock pliers to loosen the nut. Now it tilts fine! (Unfortunately for me, no longer easily adjustable though). I may reach out to support and see what mercy they might have, but for now, I don't really see the need to adjust the tilt tension once set how I like it initially . ... show more

  • Comfort
Size: Foot-Ring Color: Black
This drafting chair is a great choice for taller people. The height is fully adjustable, so it’s easy to find a comfortable sitting position whether you’re working at a counter-height desk or drafting table. The seat itself is wide and deep enough that it supports your legs all the way to your knees, instead of stopping short like many chairs do. Because of that, it doesn’t cut off circulation or cause that uncomfortable pressure on the back of your legs. Overall, it’s comfortable, supportive, and very tall-person friendly. ... show more
