  • Super Bright, Automatic ease in/out of light.
Size: 14W (for 12-18 inch tank)
I bought a random tank with cool blue led lights, glowing gravel, and with neon plastic plants. Only thing is, the fish freaked out with blue light - not to mention the shock of the light being super bright when it turned on. When I removed the old tank leds, it read, "Danger: Do Not Look at Lights When On." It was pretty bright. So this is very simple to use, and eases into brightness settings, which is AWESOME. It's kinda clunky, but I got it after playing around for 10 minutes. Before I go into the how to, know that it is indeed waterproof, super bright, and brightness can be adjusted; I'm still playing with between 50-80%. The fade in/out happens during time periods you specify. There are 3 modes. Think of them like this. Sunrise to a few hours before sunset (51), Sun has already started to Set to night (52), and full custom (53). Fortunately I only needed 2 modes. Whilst you can set modes 51 and 52 to overlap, it's causes mode 52 to kinda not work right. For me, I needed to use two modes. Some people may just need one, depending on where the tank is located. I need mode 51, as turning on the lights in the house caused the fish to freak out in the morning. I needed mode 52 because the room where the tank is located has blackout curtains, which will block the natural light if left closed. For me, I have mode 51 go from 6am to 3pm. What happens is, the white lights go from 0 to 70% from 6 to 615. Then stay at 70% till about 245, then from 245 to 3pm white light goes off. Mode 52 starts at 4pm and goes to 9pm. Red/Orange lights brighten from 4 to 415, then start to dim at 845, with off by 9pm. Mode 51: Day Time. This is your basic "white" light settings. Think Sunrise to a few hours before sunset - the sun is still up. 4 Options. 1) On/Off ( as in used or not used ). 2) On Time. 3) Off Time. 4) Brightness. Cool thing: I set the on time to 12:00 and off time to 12:03 with brightness set to 100%. From 12:00 to 12:02 it went from 0 to 100% brightness, and from 12:02 to 12:03 it went from 100% brightness back to Zero. It seems to take 10-15 minutes to go from Zero to the brightness level you selected; a gradual wake up. Naturally, if you set the on and off time to less than 10 minutes, it turns on at 00, peaks in the middle, and goes off by your end time. It will go from Your Selected Brightness level, down to 0/off in the last 10-15 minutes. Mode 52: This is for dusk colors. Same 4 options as mode 51. The difference is the brightness. Here you can set Red, Green, and Blue (RGB) colors, only up to 50% brightness. There are options for R + G, G + B, Just G, etc. From testing my fish do not like this blue either, even at 25%. My fish were okay with green/yellow, but ultimately I settled on just Red, as the fishies were cool with it. Actually setting it. You Tap the "M" button to cycle through 51, 52, 53, back to clock. When you're at 51-53, you can long press the "M" and that option will start to blink. Use the up/down arrows to change options, Tap "m" to move to the next option. Upon reaching the last part of the option, you're basically back at tapping "m" sequence. Overall I would give this 4.75 stars and not 5. The missing quarter star is for the 51, 52, 53. It could read, Day, Nite, & Cust. However, I only plan on setting this once, and plan on having this thing go for years between settings. It's not enough to remove a full star. ... show more

  • A very good light
Size: 42W (for 48-54 inch tank)
It’s altogether very easy to program, though can be a bit confusing at first. I previously had an older Hygger model and replaced it with this after it was showing signs of failing. This hg999 is a much needed improvement. I wasn’t expecting it to be half as wide as the older lamp. A major plus. And wow is it bright! I love the greater variety of colors possible and the various options for programming. I have it set on diy mode so the lamp simulates sunrise and sunset and then stays on 10% red overnight. It’s nicer on the eyes at night than blue light so it works out for everyone. I’m happy that, because the lamp is a lot wider and much brighter, the lighting is a lot more effective on my aquarium. I will look into getting a couple more of these for my other aquariums. (= ... show more

  • Hygger aquarium timer light
Size: 18W (for 18-24 inch tank)
Love this product! Its only been a couple of months, but IMO, this item is A++ quality overall. I used the custom setting (53) and I am amazed at how well it simulates dawn to dusk lighting. So as not to stress or spook the fish, it has a 'gradual' phase-up to next light level and then a slow fade-down through the evening hours, til the very last moments when it fades to just barely a glimmer then poooof... darkness. What an awesome feature! So worth the money. Oh, did I mention that it has extendable bar ends so that you adjust it to an 'exact' fit over your tank within 6". Yep!... So worth the money! ... show more

  • High quality light at a great price
Size: 22W (for 24-30 inch tank)
Already enjoying this light and I know my catfish are too. The 10 brightness modes are great and allows me to fine tune the amount of light I want going into my tank. The mode controller is tricky at first but following along with instructions made it easy. The casing and lights you can tell are quality. This will be the only light I put on my tanks from here on out. ... show more

  • great aquarium light
Size: 22W (for 24-30 inch tank)
This aquarium light has lots of different settings. Very easy to use. I currently have the light set to come on slowing in the morning and slowly dim in the afternoon. Somewhat like daylight. I'm happy with it, and my fish seem happy too.

  • Nice bright light
Size: 42W (for 48-54 inch tank)
I hesitated to buy this light since most the reviews said it was hard to program. I just followed the instructions on how to set up the time and timer. I didn’t have any problem at all. It even held the program while I plugged the light into a different outlet. I only had to reset the current time which was very simple. The lighting is perfect for my aquarium plants and shows off the fish nicely. I really like the moonlight setting. ... show more

  • Amazon “Like New” / No manual / 48” light
Size: 42W (for 48-54 inch tank)
Bought from Amazon “Like New”. Saved a little money. The light works fine. The only down side is there was no manual in the box. Not a big problem; more of a nuisance. Hence the four star rating instead of 5. Looks like an internet search is in my future to figure out how to set up the 24 hour cycle. 07/31/2023 Update: After downloading the instructions and watching some You-Tube videos, the lights are working great. After some practice, it's quite simple to program the lights. They are very bright, and for that reason I will not use them at 100%. On the 24 hour clock, this light allows you to set 8 different levels of lighting at time intervals of your choosing. If you're having difficulty setting the light up, watch the many You-Tube videos. They are helpful. Choose 51 for daylight Choose 52 for moonlight Choose 53 for Manual settings time and brightness: L1 - L8 ... show more
