  • Best Heater Yet!
Size: 300W for 50-80 Gallon
My old Aqueon heater kicked the bucket. After looking over piles of reviews, I settled on this heater. I am glad I did. It functions perfectly and better than any other heater for our 55 gallon aquarium. It keeps the water temp exactly where it needs to be. Easy to use and install. Well with the price! Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Huge with safety benefits!
Size: 300W for 50-80 Gallon
This is a very large heater with tons of safety features. I own a slim Hygger as well. I have nothing bad to say about this company, everything is excellent. And the value is definitely there.

  • Love these aquarium products
Size: 300W for 50-80 Gallon
I now have an LED hood light and this heater to go with my aquarium. This is a great value and gives me everything I would expect from my local pet store, if not more. Easy to use and install. Heater is a little larger than I would prefer but looks nice and works greats.

  • Very large heater, nice display
Size: 300W for 50-80 Gallon
I like the display for this heater, which shows the current temp, the set temp, and the current power usage. First. the power usage is watts is always whatever the heater's power rating is or zero. So that display could just be an LED light that turns on when the heater is on, the number of watts is irrelevant. The current temp seems to be accurate and shows the same temp as another digital heater I have, HiTauing Aquarium Heater . I like that the display can hang on the side of the tank and that the display is large and readable. They supply an adhesive hook to hang the display from, although I have it hanging on a suction cup in the picture. They also supply an adhesive plastic tray that you can set the display in. My tank is only 25 gals, so this heater is actually overkill for that size tank. And the heater element is very large, as tall as the tank itself. It would be nice if they offered a 100w or 200x version with a smaller heating element. ... show more

  • Large, high quality heater!
Size: 300W for 50-80 Gallon
This brand has come a long way. This heater is big and suitable for larger setups and tanks. The display is large and clear with meaningful information at your fingertips. The build quality of this unit is top-notch. I have it in place in a large reef system and it is working EXTREMELY well.

  • Well made, smart design, tips in review.
Size: 500W for 66-135 Gallon
Hygger started out as a value alternative for aquarium supplies (lights, heater, etc.) and over the past decade has become an established brand, whether compared to other bargain options or recognized names (e.g., Eheim). After experiencing a failure of our last heater (an aging 15 y.o. Eheim, fwiw), we decided to grab this as a backup to a replacement Eheim heater. I can say that we're very impressed with the build quality, and the smart design (LED display, clean install, etc.). Overall, we're quite happy with it and while the price ($45.99 at time of review) is on par with some of the bigger brands, so is the quality. I did want to share a couple of tips: 1) Size the heater wattage correctly to the gallons of your aquarium. It's gennerally accepted that aquarium heaters be rated at 5 watts per gallon for under 55 gallons, and 3 watts per gallon for over 60 gallons. This is particularly important if the heater ever fails in the "on" position- you don't want to cook your fish! 2) I'm reading a lot of reviews where people are over-wattaging their tanks, perhaps thinking "more is better". It's important if you do size up, to use a back up temperature controller. As above, you don't want it to fail in the "on" position. We use the one made by Inkbird, which runs about $30. It uses a thermal cut-off that you set, then plug your heater into. It might sound a bit excessive, but a little redundancy never hurt anyone. I consider it cheap insurance, especially if you have several hundred dollars invested in your aquarium. ... show more

  • Heating Up the Mix: Hygger Aquarium Heater Review
Size: 500W for 66-135 Gallon
I've incorporated the Hygger 500W Aquarium Heater into my reef tank routine, specifically within my mixing station for daily water changes. With an 80-gallon barrel setup, finding a heater that can efficiently bring the temperature from a cool 50°F to a more tropical 78°F was crucial. This heater hits the mark, taking about 5 hours to achieve the desired temperature. Performance Meets Expectations For a 500W heater, it packs enough punch to handle the volume of water I'm dealing with. The pace at which it heats is perfectly suited for my needs, especially since the water prepped lasts me close to a month. It's a set-it-and-forget-it kind of deal, maintaining the temperature steadily once it reaches the target. Smart Features for Peace of Mind What I appreciate about this heater is its intelligent automatic power-off system. It's always a bit nerve-wracking to leave heaters unattended, but this feature adds an extra layer of safety, ensuring the heater doesn't run amok if something goes awry. Plus, the LED digital display makes it easy to check the temperature at a glance, a small but significant convenience. Final Verdict Overall, the Hygger Aquarium Heater has been a reliable addition to my mixing station. It does precisely what I need it to do—heat and maintain the temperature of my saltwater supply without a hitch. For anyone managing large volumes of water for their aquatic setups, especially in reef tanks where stable temperatures are non-negotiable, this heater is worth considering. It's efficient, reliable, and comes with safety features that give you one less thing to worry about. ... show more

  • Nice powerful heater in a shorter size
Size: 500W for 66-135 Gallon
I’ve been a growing fan of Hygger in the last 5 years. They consistently offer a lower priced product than similar items from other brands. I think this is true for this heater as well. The digital display is great, the size of the heater is nice (at 500w, many heaters are around 20” long which can be challenging to find a place to put it). Its shorter size made it easy to stick in my sump tank. The plastic housing around the heating elements seems well made and work well at minimizing risk to equipment or animals that touch the heater. The price around $50 is great for what you get. ... show more
