  • Won't pull sifted masonry sand.
Three attempts to make this work in 100 degree F temperatures. It wasn't fun! My goal was to remove the paint and primer from around the lug nut holes on a steel rim. Attempt #1: I hooked it up with no problems. I used play sand that I ran through a kitchen vegetable strainer. The moment I started the tip got wet and the sand clogged in the tube at the tip (see pic). Once this happens you have to get the wet sand out of the tube and start all over with a dry tube. I just left it outside until the next day and let the heat dry the sand out for easier removal. Attempt #2: This time I used sifted masonry sand that is very fine grain. I sifted through a kitchen flour sifter with holes smaller than window screen. Again, as soon as I started the sand at the tip got wet and clogged. At this point I watched videos on this type of blaster and took the recommendation of making sure the sand tube was on top of the water tube. The sand tube should also be taped to the water tube to prevent kinking. Attempt #3: I used sifted masonry sand, kept the sand tube on top of the water tube and even wrapped the tip and tubes in plastic (see pic). For about 60 seconds sand/water mix came out of the tube but only in spurts and not a continuous stream so I got sporadic paint removal. It didn’t remove any gray primer. Perhaps my 1700 psi pressure washer is too small but this thing is only rated for 2500 psi so I assumed it is for smaller pressure washers. Maybe the good reviews are based on a more powerful pressure washer. Please let me know if you found this review helpful. Thanks and good luck! ... show more
