Yes, yes, yes this is expensive coffee. Okay, got THAT out of the way. I am sooo glad that I ignored the few naysayers on here whining that THIS is not up to Kona 100% coffee standards. Do NOT be dissuaded by them. THIS is the smooth, NO bitterness wonderful stuff that I remembered from Kona that I last had about two years ago. Most coffee tastes like, well, coffee. Sure! But you get into fine nuances of flavor and smoothness with virtually zero bitterness with this Kona. This is not considered a dark brew, but sort of medium. It is one of the very few coffees that I actually can enjoy drinking without sugar and half & half. One tablespoon per 6 oz. of water for me. I won’t discuss “worth the money” as everyone prioritizes something. I’ll likely drink this Kona more as “an occasional treat” rather than a staple. “Your mileage may vary.” Bon appetit.

If you noticed the seller does not respond to bad reviews (always a bad sign). Kona coffee is known for its rich aromas, smoothness, almost sweet taste. When I first opened the bag I was disappointed that it didn’t have that sweet, full, aromatic coffee smell. Scooping the grounds they lacked color consistency, were very dry, lacked the usual oils you’d expect in a quality coffee. Grinding it further didn’t release anything either and didn’t help with the brewing (pour over). The pours color was light and what I would consider a “weak” cup where you can see the edge of the cup, somewhat clear below the surface of the coffee. Over the next few sets of pours the quality and consistency changed little. From my regular brewing method to quick pours with lower temp water and a metal screen versus metal filter (to lower the bitterness) it stayed bitter and “flat”. The coffee stayed on the bitter side with adjustments making no real difference to the taste or quality.

I love this coffee have been buying it for 20 years when I went to the islands . Was so happy to find it here . It was fresh and amazing . It’s the only coffee I can drink with no heart burn , I don’t need creamer . It’s a smooth as can be. It’s expensive, and if you can’t taste the difference why it cost more , then don’t spend the extra money . This is top bean with a light roast because you get more caffeine that way . It breaks my heart to see the negative reviews on here because this is a superior product .

Right away, I noticed this these Kona coffee beans don’t have as rich of an aroma as some other premium beans. It drinks very smooth, but the flavor is very muted. Definitely not the same quality as some of the other brands I’ve tried. Don’t get me wrong, it’s decent coffee. It’s just not worth the price.
