  • Snow Blower impeller modification kit is designed to minimize the gap between the blade and the snow discharge chute to reduce the chance of your snow blowing clogging up after working a while. The great tool will also increase your work efficiency and help your snow blower parts especially the blades work longer.

Description

Most two-stage snow blowers have a large gap or space between the impeller blades and the cylindrical chamber surrounding it. As the working time of snow blower increases, the gap gradually let in more and more snow and slush and build up in the internal space. This issue can cause clogging issues and reduced snow throwing distance, greatly decreasing work efficiency. This is a common design fault for many snow blowers. One of the easiest and quickest solution is to modifying the blades by adding a strip of durable rubber to each of them to reduce or eliminate the gap. It is also recommended that all blades should be modified to ensure the mechanic balance while the blowing is running. Note this modify kit is for improving the performance of two-stage blowers. For single-stage blowers or those with small (<1/4’’) or large (5/8’’) gap, this kit is probably not needed. If your snow blower has a large gap between impeller blades and discharge chute, you are more likely to encounter snows building up in the chamber while operating the machine, causing disturbing clogging issues. More clogging means less power to throw snow to far distance and reduced lifespan of the snow blower parts, especially the blades. To achieve higher snow throwing efficiency and continuous use experience, snow impeller blades can be improved by adding a strip of rubbers to minimize the gap. If you have a large gap or frequently encounter clogging issues, you will probably find this kit a great tool for improving your snow cleaning work.

Buy these (and some spray), then watch the video on installing on Airens older snowblowers. Nice!
These work great. There is a video on You Tube showing the installation process. You will need a cordless drill, bits, sockets and wrenches to install. Placing the rubber pads in a bench vise will allow you to cut the pads to the same length to keep the weight balance even. A $20/$30 vibrating saw will cut them the best. When installing, remove the spark plug wire and ground it on the cylinder head. Prop the snowblower up from the ground so you can see what you're working on. Block both the snow scoop/auger end from the ground. Also block the snowblower handles so it can't tip over backwards. Now remove the blower chute. Rotate the impeller blades so you can install the 1st set. Once in position to work on, also block it so it cannot turn as you press down with the drill. I recommend having 2 people. Makes it much easier. Maybe order 2 sets, and work with a neighbor, friend, or relative so you both get a better operating machine. After the install, spray the blower insides with "Snow & Ice Repellent" spray. Almost no snow stick inside anymore. (Hint: Also spray your snow shovel, too!) ... show more

From “jammomatic” to “ throwamatic”
Prior to installing this kit I had a cub cadet 3x30 snowblower “jammomatic”. Any significant snow fall and was constantly cleaning out a jam. After installation, and with considerable snow fall this year, no jams yet. Now the installation is not just a drop in. Being a generic kit there is a lot of measuring and hand work (multitool for the rubber, cutting tool for the metal straps, and multi step drill bit to make the holes in the auger paddles for the bolts that hold the pad and metal straps on). But, with this relatively inexpensive kit installed, the “jammomatic” is now more like the “throwmatic” even in 12 to 18 inch snow and especially on the stuff left at the end of the drive way by the snow plow drivers. At least now I no longer feel cub cadet 3x buyers remorse 😉. ... show more

Work great. A bit of a challenge to install.
A bit of a pain to install well. I am a perfectionist so I had to cut and bend the backing plates to match the contour of my snow blower fins, but I love what they do. Shoots snow farther than any of my neighbors snow blowers and you know that it is important to do that!!!!!!

Very effective way to increase throw - take your time installing to get it right the first time.
I have a 30 year old 555 Simplicity 5.5 hp 21" snow blower. It had a poor throw of about 6 ft and even less if the snow was wet. With this kit, it went to 20 feet when discharge in the direction of the impeller spin. It increased to about 10 ft when discharged in the opposite direction of the spin, though this probably is due to poorly designed chute curve. The impeller was "U" shaped with 2" on bottom and 1" on each arm. I cut the rubber to 3", the made a 1/8" slice on one side at 1" from edge so I could match the bottom and back arm of the impeller. Be careful to line up and stack the rubbers so all the holes align and the slope of the leading rubber edge match. In my case the impeller was braced with a steel plate under each impeller so I had to properly select the hole location to miss the brace plate and align with the curve. Measure and plan ahead! The included self tapping screws quickly drilled through my 1/8" steel plate in 5-10 seconds. I had to enlarge the hole with 1/4" drill and finally with 5/16" so the bolts fit easily. When I miss-placed the hole, I used a rat tail file to compensate. The first blade took some time because of my mistakes, the last blade was only a few minutes. I did find my impeller was not exactly centered in the cowling so I had one high spot; nevertheless, with use, the rubber wore to match the shape. It has worked great. ... show more

If you do one modification to your snowblower, do this!
Very impressed with how this helped my late 90’s Yard Machines 10hp snowblower throw snow. Bought the machine used and got to use it in a 20”+ storm the next day, and was underwhelmed with how far the snow was thrown. Installation of this was a little bit of a pain because the snowblower’s impeller isn’t completely flat and you’re reaching around the bucket and into the chute, but holy cow does it get distance now. Went from maybe 8-10 feet to probably 25-30 feet of throw distance. I had to cut the rubber and metal down in half to fit my impeller, so I actually have enough to do another snowblower in the future. Great upgrade for the price ... show more

Great with wet snow
This kit makes my 60 year old REO throw wet snow better than it ever did. A bit of work to install but well worth it. I couldn't have bought the SS nut's and bolts for the price of the kit

Once installed the product worked well
I ordered this after watching a You Tube video via a link. I attempted to use the self tapping screws. They were useless and did not working even after drilling a small starter hole. I went to the local hardware store and bought self tapping screws that went in without any problem. The snow blower works incredibly well now, no clogging of the shoot, despite the blizzard CT got. ... show more
