  • Incredibly Complete Drawing Tablet for an Unbeatable Price
I bought this as a gift for my nephew, who had watched scads of YouTube videos, and claimed this was the ONE he wanted. Actually, he wanted the 450P model, which is MUCH smaller. This was $65ish at time of purchase, and offered a $20 off coupon, making the total price $45ish. Seeing what I hoped was a steal, I bought one for him AND myself (because OF COURSE I DID). After screwing with it a good bit, and stumbling a little, I think I have it working the way I want — and I am VERY happy. Some tips: - Initially, pressure sensitivity didn't work correctly. This was fixed by rebooting Windows 11 WHILE the tablet was connected. - There is a VERY TINY "lock" button on the end of the tablet OPPOSITE the USB connection that will enable/disable ALL of the "quick press" buttons (on EVERY model HUION tablet). This was not noticed initially, and I thought the buttons non-functional. I have used it with Adobe Fresco, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Krita. All worked exactly as I hoped (wonderfully). I highly recommend Krita with this tablet. It (and all of it's add ons) are 100% FREE, and it appears to be a MUCH better drawing/painting program than the others I used with it. ... show more

  • Good but too laggy
Getting this thing set up was a breeze. In all layman aspects, I didn't have any issues. The problem arose when I started playing with it and noticed the very distinctive lag. It was perhaps .2 to .3 of a second, but it really started getting to me. When I started to do research as to why this was happening, the website said it was probably because the firmware drivers on the device were old and that I should update them. After a process of figuring out how and trying to be sure I had the right drivers the firewire was updated -- as far as the installer was concerned --, yet product software wouldn't register a change in the firmware version. I gave up. I did everything I could, but at the end of the day, the delay/lag was just too much for me to use the product. ... show more

  • A relatively inexpensive hobby-level device
This tablet has been reviewed to death so I'll only concentrate on a few things. I rate it 5 stars if you remember what it is: a tablet that costs a fraction of a professional model, and is suited for hobby work but not professional use. If you "just want a drawing tablet" --- as was the case for me --- this is a nice choice. I needed a tablet for writing on web whiteboard for a class I'm taking online. Simple as that, but I got a lot more. Working with a mouse on the whiteboard wasn't so great. This tablet is about a zillion times better. Then I tried with some drawing software. So much better than the mouse. But, I couldn't see how you could make those amazing professional drawings that I see online. And you probably can't. It's a fairly crude drawing tablet, which does the essentials quite well, but won't satisfy a true artist (which I am not). There is just not the precision and finesse of a unit that costs hundreds of dollars. The other aspect I want to cover is getting it to work with Linux. I have an Arch Linux system, and I don't have any Windows or Mac setups. I was delighted that on my up-to-date system the tablet worked instantly out of the box. The pen control worked and the pen tip and buttons on the pen (mapped to mouse buttons) worked as well. The buttons on the side of the tablet did not work out of the box. I did get them to work eventually but it took a lot of doing. Something to keep in mind, although in the end I'm not sure what I'll do with those buttons --- I just wanted to get them working. None of this is relevant to Windows and Mac users, of course. Bottom line: a good unit for casual use and works with Linux. Five stars for what you get for what you pay. Just remember it's not suitable for professional applications. ... show more

  • Not compatible with Linux, but works well with android.
So, I got this because I saw it on a site about the best "Linux Compatible" drawing tablets, but it's not actually compatible. I had to install a bunch of stuff to just to get the HUION interface to at least open, but it doesn't look quite right. All of the text in the interface seems to have been replaced with rectangles and the buttons in the interface don't work except for the minimize, expand, and close buttons. However as for on android, it doesn't seem to like it when I move my hand too fast as if I do, the cursor will vanish and so I have to slow down how fast I draw. But nevertheless once I've drawn something on my phone, I can easily move the drawing over to my laptop with USB and edit or touch up the drawing there since again, I can't use the tablet with Linux. It is also easy it get smudges on the surface of the tablet, so I have to wear a glove whenever I draw. I also find myself not able to draw in landscape mode as it seems it only detects portrait. However despite the setbacks, it is very useful and is a very good drawing tablet. (Not sure what the buttons on the side of the tablet do, though.) ... show more
