After much research we purchased this before we went full time rving across the country. It saved us in our first campground and several times since in the past 6 months! A great piece on mind to protect our motor home from old faulty electric at rv parks. We loved it so much we gifted one to my sister to use as she lost her entire electric system on her rig due to faulty park wiring and ended up replacing her entire rig due to the damage! We choose this one due to the bluetooth app it offered. It is very nice to open the app and see why it cut the power without having to run out to the electric pole and see what is going on. (especially on cold, rainy nights!!) The app will also tell your your electric use which is nice to monitor in case you want to boondock and know what you are really using or if you are in a campground that charges for usage. if it does shut the power down for surging or undercurrent-it monitors the electric and turns it back on as well. Very nice piece of mind to protect expensive electric components on your rig. Only complaint I'd have is the brightness! It has a huge bulldog face on the unit that shines bright white when all is good. This draws attention to it for someone who maybe looking to help themselves to it. We have not had any neighbors complain about the brightness however. Do make sure to buy a cable to secure it to the pole to make sure it doesn't walk off in the night. ... show more

It's very easy to use, simply connect it to the hookups at the campsite and then to the RV's power cable. Flip on the circuit breaker at the campsite and it will power up and filter the electricity being fed to your RV. There is an app (for Android, not sure if it's for apple) that allows you to monitor its status and performance. You can manage it with the app too, and reset it if it clicks off because of a power issue. My only gripe is like a lot of other people have, about how bright the unit is at night since the face of the unit lights up. To remedy this, I used some non-transparent foil tape (for ducting) to cover the face of the unit except for the small digital readout that will display error codes if an electrical event occurs. Other than that minor issue, I really like this item as it makes me feel secure knowing my RV's power system is safe. I also like that it has a way of locking it with a chain to the hookup at the campsite, so that way it stays mine and not someone elses. ... show more

I am a first-time RV owner. The cost of any surge protector is going to be far less than internal electrical repairs of appliances inside the RV. I got this unit for two reasons. First, it not just detects problems, it actively protects against many problems well beyond simple surge; that's not true of some other alternative brands. Second, the surge protection module is replaceable. That's quality design, and customer-focus The app is awesome. I really found it useful to sit in our RV and watch the amps draw in real time. For example the compressor in our A/C cycles on and off according to the thermostat, but the fan is manual and always runs. I found the ability to monitor when the compressor cycled on and off was very useful in quickly fine-tuning the thermostat to ensure the A/C was set properly. I can also see when the hot water heater kicks on, gauge how many amps each appliance draws, and know when I have spare capacity to plug in a particular extra appliance into a 120 volt outlet. One word of caution and one suggestion for improvement. For other customers like me, please note that there are two apps from this vendor with similar names. One has a black dog face with red highlights and one is a red dog face with white highlights. They are for different products and you have to get the right one or the app won't work correctly. As for improvements for the vendor - the illumination when the unit turns on is hard to see in direct bright sunlight. An increase in brightness, or an additional LED to indicate all is well, would be a great improvement. ... show more

Great for use hooking to a fixed power source, but will not function with a generator. And yes, my generator is properly grounded, but it thinks it isn't. Not a big deal, but something to be aware of. Bluetooth app works well. A little bulky, but light weight.

A complete shore power management system for your RV, protecting you from spikes, low voltage, and overcurrent situations. I got this with the mission of measuring AC loads in my RV so that I could size a solar solution. Without actual measurements, it's difficult to size solar correctly. The bluetooth app lets you see the power consumption as various loads switch on and off. I built a spreadsheet to build out my load usage profile and quickly identified what I need for a solar power bank. For example, I was delighted to discover that my AC has "soft start" where the fan turns on for a few seconds, and then the compressor turns on to reduce the surge current required. This means I can run with solar and a generator for AC use. AC's use a lot of power, so solar alone isn't the solution. Yet, I'll be able to power everything else, now that I know what my loads are and usage is. It is physically much bigger than other power protection solutions, and as others pointed out, it has a bright light. I turn the face towards the power pedestal and bungee it in place, and will be adding a security cable to increase resistance to theft. I'm happy! ... show more
