I felt nostalgic for a whole stack of CD's I could no longer play. I was not looking for the latest and greatest with a host of fancy features. This CD Player is compact, portable,easy to use and reasonably priced. Best of all I can play my CD's again and recapture all the memories, good and sad, that are part of my music and life. Since it arrived I am enjoying some of my favorite music again and singing along tuneslessly but happily. I should have bought this long ago but it is great to have it now. Within a couple of months of purchase, the controls on the front stopped working consistently. sometimes they are completely nonfunctional. Even when turned off, the player has a low, persistent hum, which means that it cannot be left on between uses. Very good sound, though. Not a good model for young listeners.

I purchased this item for my husband, who is in a nursing home. He is recovering from a serious injury and unable to walk or take care of himself. I wanted him to be able to listen to our CDS which have old songs. I installed 6 brand-new batteries so that he wouldn't be restricted to an area with an outlet. As soon as I started the music, he started singing along. He really enjoyed it, and I was pleased. A few days later, a friend visited him. She tried to play music for him, and discovered that it wouldn't play. When I visited him, I tried plugging it in, and it worked. So, I unplugged it to move it closer to him, plugged it back in, and it wouldn't play. I took it home, tested the batteries, and found that all 6 brand new cells were weak. But, that doesn't explain why it wouldn't work when I plugged it in. I returned it and ordered another. I started it up with another 6 new batteries, and it worked fine when I tested it at home. But, when I brought it to my husband at the nursing home, it wouldn't play on battery power. It played when I plugged it in. I plan to bring my battery tester to the nursing home to find out whether this CD player is really depleting batteries this fast. If so, I might have to return this one as well, and purchase a CD player which doesn't run through batteries after such a short time.
