  • Ok value, only recommend for a few specific use-cases
From a value standpoint, this is just okay but even among HP's own offerings there are much better products at similar prices. The hardware inside is designed for laptops and is power efficient, but I would only recommend this over a laptop for someone that knows they won't move it around and wants the larger screen. It is competent for web browsing, basic productivity tasks such as word processing, and media playback. I wouldn't expect great things beyond that. There is no dedicated GPU, only the embedded one with the CPU. It's good for efficiency, but won't be capable of graphics intensive tasks. I mention this because of the included Game Pass subscription. It can run some more basic indie titles, a few e-sports games at low settings, and much older games (if they can run on Windows 11), all of which can be a blast. However, it does not even approach the minimum hardware requirements for the majority of modern games. The iGPU does support HEVC and AV1 codecs for media, which can be beneficial for some uses. They market the copilot button, but this CPU is a rebadged 2 generation old product from AMD that doesn't have a NPU for AI workloads making it a poor choice for copilot. The RAM and SSD are reasonable capacities for the money, but I'm not happy that they're not serviceable. The screen is not particularly good with notable light-bleed in all 4 corners, but you get used to it and it's only very noticeable in darker screens with little ambient light. There are laptops with better hardware and better but smaller screens for a similar price. I was able to bypass Microsoft's online account requirement when setting up Windows. HP adds a few steps to the out of box experience that are easy enough to decline but also have some dark patterns which could lead people to unintentionally accept something they tried to decline. Pre-installed bloat was minimal but notable, with a handful of HP specific apps, a Dropbox promotion, and McAfee. I was able to remove most without issue. Setting up local user accounts, our use for this is primarily a shared computer for a 5th grader and a high school sophomore. We were able to set some appropriate parental controls and their needs are generally contained to web searches, school login portals, and office suite items such as PowerPoint and Word. ... show more

  • Comfortable AIO PC with Wifi 7 and 120 Hz HD screen. Very simple keyboard/mouse.
IMPORTANT - Install the stand into the rear of AIO body while screen is still face down in packing tray. It makes an audible click and you can safely confirm the connection. This HP OmniStudio All-In-One PC is a pretty decent home desktop system for most people. It's not meant to do intense AAA gaming, with a low-power Ryzen 5 220 (comparable in benchmarks and feel to my prior 6 core 9600k system), Radeon 740M graphics, and 16 GB of DDR5 5600 (installed as 1 stick, leaving one slot available). The 2026 market for memory chips is rough but 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of SSD is not lacking for a general purpose PC. This HP AIO computer has an active fan when powered on, which does make it audible even at idle. It's not loud or whooshing but it is at a higher pitch than traditional PC fan noises. The CPU temperature seems to idle in the mid 40 C range with minor excursions into 50 C on minor load. CPU-z stress testing brings the CPU temperature up to 80s but the fan does a good job of not letting temps go higher. The Realtek-powered RJ45 network plug at the rear of the AIO is only 1 gigabit speed but the wireless is Wifi 7 powered by a Realtek 8922AE chip. The back of the AIO system includes 2 USB C ports and 3 USB A ports. Those USB A ports start filling up pretty quickly if you use the included USB A keyboard and USB A mouse. I could understand upgrading to a wireless keyboard and mouse combo using a single USB A dongle for keeping ports open. There is also a rear HDMI output that could be useful for attaching another monitor in a dual-monitor setup or perhaps connecting an even larger screen, like a TV, for movie night. The internal stereo speakers are surprisingly loud at even 50%, better than most laptop speaker designs. The 27" diagonal screen is full 1080p HD resolution with a 120 Hz refresh rate. It's larger than a laptop and fits a desk well. The camera on the top is capable of 30 fps 1080 HD and has a slider to cover the lens. The downside is it's laptop-like, at a fixed angle on the top of the screen, meaning it's aimed more at the top of my head when I have the screen raised at eye level. The image from the small camera is fairly noisy but it's usable. The keyboard looks better than it feels. It's a low-profile membrane keyboard with very broad keycaps that make it easy to hit adjacent keys. The keyboard has dedicated emoji and copilot buttons. The mouse is even more basic, with two buttons and a clickable scroll wheel. These aren't peripherals that will impress anyone using a mechanical keyboard. A review of what is involved in accessing the motherboard to upgrade RAM and M2 storage suggests it's pretty involved, requiring removal of the LCD screen. It's possible to add a second stick of memory but most people really won't be doing things requiring more than 16 GB of memory. I think this HP OmniStudio system looks nice and has the power of a laptop but the larger screen typical of a desktop. It's easy to upgrade with a better keyboard and mouse. If you plug in USB thumb drives I would also suggest a USB A hub with a cable longer than about 1 ft so you can plug thumb drives in more easily. ... show more

  • Entry level hardware, good for those that just want something that works, clean easy setup
This HP OmniStudio 27-inch All-in-One Desktop PC is one of those computers where the intended user will determine whether it represents good value or an overpriced purchase. After using it, I came away feeling that it is designed for someone who wants a simple, clean desktop setup that just works with no frills. For web browsing, email, streaming, office applications, video calls, and other everyday tasks, it handles the job well and provides a tidy all-in-one solution. The biggest limitation (for me) is the hardware. The AMD Ryzen 5 220 processor, 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB solid-state drive, and AMD Radeon 740M graphics are adequate for basic computing, but they are entry-level specifications by 2026 standards. The Full High Definition (FHD) 1080p display is also somewhat underwhelming on a 27-inch screen, where higher resolutions generally deliver sharper visuals. In some applications, the pixels can look stretched and sometimes blurry. Power users, gamers, content creators, or anyone doing heavier local processing will likely find the performance limiting. I also couldn't find any obvious access panels or screws to take it apart for upgrades, so what you buy today may be what you are stuck with long-term, and there isn’t much future-proofing on this one. From a build quality and design standpoint, HP put together an attractive package. The Cotton White finish looks clean and modern, and the adjustable stand makes it easy to find a comfortable viewing position. It’s fairly easy to install: a single screw at the base attaches the neck, and the monitor clicks onto the stand. The all-in-one design helps reduce cable clutter, and if you bring your own wireless keyboard and mouse (which I did), it can be completely wireless, except for the power cable. The feature set is fairly complete. It includes a keyboard and mouse, built-in speakers, a webcam, two USB-C ports, three USB-A ports, Ethernet, HDMI output for a second monitor, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The Full High Definition infrared camera supports Windows Hello facial recognition, and the solid-state drive keeps the system responsive and delivers super-fast boot times. When you first boot, you will have to go through Windows setup and updates, which take around 20 minutes. You can decline any extras or subscriptions. You can also get around having to sign in with a Microsoft account, but it’s more of a process than it’s worth most of the time. My biggest issue is the price given for the hardware specs. At around $1,000, I think HP is charging a premium for convenience and branding rather than raw capability. You can buy a mini PC with significantly better performance for less money, but you would need to provide your own monitor, webcam, keyboard, and mouse; that setup is more involved and requires more setup. I think the HP OmniStudio 27 is a good option for someone who wants a simple desktop computer with everything integrated into one package. The usability, appearance, and functionality are all good, but the performance and value are harder to justify at this price point. For basic users, it should work well, but shoppers focused on performance per dollar will likely find better alternatives. I’m giving it five stars for the intended user and audience, but in my account, I would consider it a four-star at best. ... show more

  • Great for its target audience - with caveats
Probably the most comprehensive review I've written yet, so buckle in! (To those who aren't computer-savvy and are looking to buy a gift for another person: feel free to skip to the last paragraph.) The manufacturer's packaging was very, very organized. Everything was arranged securely - the included keyboard and mouse, too, were in their own box-in-the-box. The inside of the box's lid has instructions on connecting the monitor base to the monitor, and more detailed instructions are in the included manual. The monitor display is nice, clean, and crisp! Although the instruction manual shows the keyboard and mouse as wireless, both the keyboard and mouse that arrived with mine are wired, with built-in white cables that match the PC (both plug into the back of the monitor). You cannot disconnect the cables - they are, again, built-in. Though them being wired-only is a bit of a drawback, the keyboard is satisfying to type on (a low-profile, laptop-like full-size keyboard with a tactile feel). It's also quieter than a laptop keyboard. Mouse seems adequate (though wired mice will always be a bit of a pain to use, in my opinion. Cord creates a bit of a mess; I would ditch it, personally). Screen is a great size. It measures 24" horizontally, and 27" diagonally. Monitor can be raised and lowered - I was able to do it successfully. I haven't tried tilting it, even though the instruction manual says I can (can't see any hinges where it would tilt, and am nervous to try, especially considering the existing discrepancies in the manual). Got jumpscared by the Windows sound when I started it up, so the speakers! definitely work! Haha. Now for the huuuuge caveat: it forces you to log in with a Microsoft account - and I mean FORCES. Workarounds like Shift+F10 simply do not work, at all. You need an internet connection, and you need a Microsoft login (or at least the willingness to make an account). Also, even though the product page lists it as good for gaming, I would not use it for gaming personally, since the CPU and graphics card are integrated. This is a problem, as sharing the system's memory means reduced performance. You could probably play basic games (e.g., visual novels) with no issue, but if you're looking to run a AAA title, this isn't the PC for you. For academic, business or everyday use, it's more than adequate. Now, for the target audience... I would recommend this PC to folks who have a Microsoft account and regularly, actively use Windows software for either work or daily use (and who don't mind Copilot hovering over their shoulder). I would NOT recommend this for heavy gamers, Apple users, Linux users (ESPECIALLY not Linux users!!!! Unless you're buying this for a Linux user that you hate, in which case, go for it), people looking for a bit more control over their computer's OS, anyone who does not have a Windows account and is unwilling to make one, or anyone who is allergic to McAfee. ... show more

  • An okay budget entry-level All-in-One Desktop PC depending on the value
Update (6/17/2026): Well, my worst fears happened. Two days after the review, my wife barely bumped the monitor, and if fell off. I noted in my initial review how the screen (monitor) is fairly easy to pull out of the base stand. I was careful, but my wife was not. They really need to fix that issue, or it can be an expensive book weight. I'm very familiar with various All-in-One Desktop PC's. It seems an okay value for the price, it's easy to use, and matches the product description. The quality is decent. I'll get into details later, but overall, this is an entry-level all-in-one desktop pc that's not really good for gaming, and not really good for heavy production tasks. However, it is quite snappy, and it takes 11 seconds from pressing the power button to load into Windows. It's also pretty efficient - the power adapter is only 90W. It's good for browsing, watching videos, word processing, spreadsheets, and video conferencing. The CPU is a Ryzen 5 220, an entry-level processor with 6 cores and 12 threads. It can get up to 92C with the factory applied thermal paste, but replacing with something better got it down to 82C for the highest core. The memory is actually pretty good, a single 16GB 5600MHz DDR5 SO-DIMM, but it'll be running in single channel. There's room for another SO-DIMM if you are so inclined to upgrade. The NVMe SSD is only 512GB, but it's one of the better TLC PCIe4.0x4 ones. There's only one NVMe slot, and it occupies that. The WiFi is a RTL8922AE, and only has drivers for Windows 11 or Linux. Since the PC comes with Windows 11 Home, it's something most people won't worry about, but if you decide to install Windows 10 instead, you'll want to replace it if you want to use WiFi. The 27-inch IPS matte screen isn't bad, but it's only FHD (1080P), and paired with the CPU, doesn't support HDR, but does allow for HDR streaming. However, I've not seen HDR available for streaming videos being provided. It's not a touchscreen (in case you're wondering), is only 8-bit, but does allow 120Hz. It has two speakers placed on the bottom of the panel, and it's okay. It uses Realtek audio, with 24-bit 4800Hz bit depth and sample rate for both the speakers and microphone. The speakers can get loud, which is nice, and about 40% audio strength is where I like it. The camera has a privacy slider, and allows for FHD (1080P) quality. It's not laggy, and picture quality with natural light looks good for a 1080P camera. The keyboard and mouse are pretty basic. The base stand does not swivel left to right, and only provides maybe a 10 degree angling up and down. It does not slide up or down. It has a fully closed single cord organizer, so the ends need to be pulled through. The screen is also fairly easy to pull out of the base stand, so be careful. Opening the back panel to access the motherboard and internal components is somewhat easy if you know what you're doing, and if you have the correct tools. If you don't know what you're doing, you'll likely break a few plastic pieces. The back panel ports are lackluster. I think a USB4 port would have been a game changer, and whoever's idea to put the headphone/microphone input in the back panel should be fired. The same for the speakers facing down and not forward. If you just want a computer with a large screen you can setup once and not have to mess with getting all the different parts to connect together, and have it just work, then this will do the job. ... show more
