  • FROZE AFTER EVERY PRINT JOB UNTIL...
I ordered the printer on 12/28/20 and it arrived 2 days later (I live in Hawaii so this was really fast for us). I got it all set up but it seemed to be freezing after every single print job. It was on the WiFi yet it would say that it was offline. The printer would not turn off so the only way to reset it was to unplug it, plug it back in, and restart it. The first couple of times I thought it might be my WiFi or my computer, but it happened with every single print job. It got so bad I named her Elsa, and I was going to let her go (via a return for a defective item). The replacement was not expected until February (they are currently out of stock). In the meantime I googled the problem wondering if this was a common occurrence with this printer. Someone posted a solution in the HP forum. He said he uninstalled the printer, did a factory reset, and reinstalled. He also mentioned that HP would have to be called if you use the "instant ink" option because the cartridges would no longer be recognized (this did not apply to me but I figured I would mention it in case someone else does). So I uninstalled, reset, and reinstalled. So far, so good! My only issue now is that my replacement ink has not arrived yet and I am almost out of ink in the tiny cartridge that initially comes with the computer. Ha ha. I have been able to print from my computer (more than one job), and my phone with no freezing! I cancelled my return/replacement. ... show more

  • The Crafter's Delight - Restoring my faith in HP! **UPDATE** The Crafter's Delight - Restoring my faith in HP! **UPDATE**
I spent months trying to make a decision about replacing my Epson 2200. I just couldn't deal with the clogged printheads anymore. All of the other printers in my home and business, are HP. But over the years, I have become spoiled by the outstanding quality of the color printing of the Epson 2200 Photo printer. So, I was really torn between buying another Epson or buying an HP color printer. My SIL solved the dilemma when she gave me Hannukah cash and told me to purchase something that I really needed in my studio! I purchased the HP Envy Pro 6455. The price was great (I had enough cash left over to buy more craft supplies) and the features were appealing. I must say that I was surprised by the quality of the printing on the Envy! In addition to creating greeting cards, I am an avid planner and I like to design and print my own stickers for my planners. The quality of the color prints is wonderful. I use #28 paper for my planner pages and both matte and glossy sticker paper. The Envy handled both of these media very well. I was able to set up this printer in a very short period of time. I had not upgraded my Mac OS and so I had to locate High Sierra 10.13.6 because the printer will not work on lower OS versions. Once that was done, the rest was easy peasy. The printer located my network and installed itself really. I signed up for the ready ink program because I find it convenient and after doing the math, I know that the plan I chose will be a money saver for me. I also liked the fact that you can roll over unused pages. UPDATE (JUNE 2022) I have been using my printer with Alexa, my Silhouette Cameo, my Curio, and my Cameo 4. I continue to be blown away by the efficiency of this printer. The HP Envy is a powerhouse and a little workhorse. I have had 19 months of trouble-free printing! I saw a few reviews that mentioned a lack of printed documentation for this printer and I must say that there is no need for huge printed manuals anymore. I was able to get all of my questions answered using the Virtual Assistant at the HP Smart site. ... show more

  • Good simple printer
Update: SUBSCRIPTION BEWARE: we signed up for the HP instant ink. Thought we’d get more out of a monthly plan than buying the cartridge outright. Cancelled our plan about 2 years in because we weren’t using it like we use to. Found out that while I have FULL ink cartridges in my printer, my printer will not print because I don’t have a plan. The app literally told me I cannot use those cartridges anymore without an instant ink plan. I didn’t see that fine print anywhere…. That’s garbage because you’ll never run out of ink before the automatic plan sends another cartridge… not my thought on environmentally friendly. I bought a printer because we had an older HP8600 which aside from being super bulky/big, was starting to have issues printing on the edges (we've had that printer for over 8 years). I found the Envy 6455 and the biggest concern I saw was setting it up. I actually found the setup process the easiest. I downloaded the app, and it took less than 20 minutes to complete the entire process. I needed a simple home computer to print the random documents, and something a little sleeker. The cons I am finding after owning it for a few months are the following: The light stays on always where the completed documents come out. We have the printer in our little desk area that is in the nook of our hallway. So it is a bright night light that I am not the fondest of. I cover it with a piece of paper each night. If anyone unplugs our wifi at night, then that thing flashes constantly until the wifi is plugged back in. The second con, which is my biggest con, is the software. I have a good wifi connection, but the printer is always a fight to print wirelessly. Case in point, we still have the old printer and are using it for small things until the ink runs out (ink is expensive). I can send a job to the Envy and it is "finding" the printer because it's unavailable or not connected, though everything is and we haven't touched anything. I switch the job to my old one and it prints right away... old printer is sitting beside the new one, or in the same area. So I don't understand what the problem is. The envy also takes a few minutes to print. My old one prints within seconds of sending the job, the Envy can take a few minutes before it starts. I'm not in a rush to print out jobs, so this doesn't bother me... but when I don't know if it's even actually printing or still "finding" the printer, then the delay becomes a problem. I like the sleekness and the quality of the print job. I like the price of the ink, though the color comes in a bundle rather than 3 separate cartridges. On my other printer, I had to normally change the color cartridges right around the same time though, so this didn't really bother me. The HP ink program is really nice so far too. Very cheap for us with our printing quantity versus the price of ink cartridges. We won't spend the price of both the black cartridge and color cartridge in the year of monthly charges we incur. There is a touch area to manually do jobs, but everything else is on the app on your computer or phone. I did a print away from home which worked nicely. But the computer being "active" is a problem through my phone app too. So I am not sure if it is my particular printer or the software or the HP Smart print app. ... show more

  • Great Choice of Wireless All in One Printer. Would highly recommend.
I returned a HP Tango Smart Wireless – Mobile Remote Print, Scan, Copy, Printer for this HP Envy Pro and was completely satisfied with my choice. The Tango was difficult to connect to my iPhone App and Mac computer. After researching what the problem was (HP“unintentionally” revoked the certificate for Mac users in Oct. 2020 resulting in Apple thinking you were about to load malware and blocking it). I searched You Tube and found a way to circumvent this but it too was complicated and I am NOT a computer geek. After following the instructions to a T, I still couldn't connect. The Envy Pro easily connected to my Mac and iPhone. It has a USB port if you prefer that method of connecting rather than WiFi. IT DOES NOT COME WITH THE USB CABLE but I ordered one for $7 to use if the WiFi goes out. It doesn't require screen shots for scans and printing either. All in all, SO much easier to connect and use. It probably took me an hour tops. I really enjoy the ease of use and the quality of the prints, copies and scans. SO glad I found it! I highly recommend this all in one wireless printer for "technically challenged" computer geeks like me. ... show more

  • Printing Panic
Let me start by saying that I've had my fair share of frustrating encounters with printers, but my experience with the HP ENVY Pro 6455 was a whole new level of chaos. It all began innocently enough when I decided to upgrade my outdated printer to this supposedly modern marvel. Little did I know that it would turn my life into a comedy of errors. Firstly, setting up this printer felt like navigating through a labyrinth of wires and buttons. I swear I needed a degree in engineering just to decipher the instruction manual. After an hour of trial and error, I managed to connect it to my Wi-Fi and thought I was in the clear. Oh, how wrong I was! The printer's mobile print feature promised convenience, but instead, it became a game of chance. Sometimes it would work seamlessly, and other times it would act like a rebellious teenager, refusing to print even the simplest document. I once sent a print job, only to have it mysteriously vanish into the printer's black hole, never to be seen again. It felt like the printer had a personal vendetta against me. Scanning documents should have been a breeze, but this printer had its own mind. It would chew up paper with reckless abandon, leaving me with shredded remnants of important documents. I'm pretty sure I caught it chuckling maniacally at my distress. The auto document feeder turned out to be more of an auto document destroyer. As if the printer's antics weren't enough, the HP Instant Ink service left me feeling like a hostage. The concept of ink being delivered automatically seemed fantastic, but the reality was far from it. I received ink cartridges when I didn't need them and was left high and dry when the printer ran out of ink mid-printing session. It was like a cruel game of ink roulette. To add insult to injury, the printer claimed to work with Alexa. Well, Alexa must have been laughing at me because no matter what I said, the printer remained blissfully unresponsive. It was a classic case of false advertising. And let's not forget the noise! This printer had a knack for creating a symphony of mechanical sounds that would rival a construction site. Every time it started printing, it sounded like a herd of stampeding elephants had invaded my home. I half expected my neighbors to complain about the noise disturbance. On the rare occasions when the printer did manage to produce a printed document, I was greeted with streaks and smudges that would make any abstract artist proud. It seemed like the printer had a secret mission to turn every page into a modern art masterpiece. If only I wanted an inkblot test instead of a document, I would have been ecstatic. Customer support was no help either. After spending what felt like an eternity on hold, I finally connected with a representative who seemed as clueless as I was. They walked me through the same troubleshooting steps I had already attempted, only to conclude that the printer must be "acting up." Well, that was an understatement! I can't deny that amidst the frustration, there were moments when I found myself chuckling at the sheer absurdity of the situation. The printer's ability to transform a simple printing task into a comedy of errors was truly impressive. It was like living in a sitcom, with the printer as the mischievous protagonist. In the spirit of fairness, I will admit that the HP ENVY Pro 6455 did have a few redeeming qualities. The print quality, when it decided to cooperate, was decent. Colors were vibrant, and text was clear and legible. But alas, the sporadic nature of its performance overshadowed any positives it had to offer. To make matters worse, the printer seemed to have a mind of its own when it came to paper sizes. It had a knack for refusing to recognize the correct paper size, leading to frustrating moments of futile adjustments and wasted paper. It was as if the printer had developed a rebellious streak and was determined to sabotage any hopes of a successful print job. I must say, however, that the printer's ability to evoke laughter was unmatched. The sheer absurdity of its behavior became a running joke among my friends and family. We would gather around, placing bets on whether the printer would successfully complete a print job or decide to go on strike mid-task. It became a source of entertainment, albeit an expensive one. In terms of price, the HP ENVY Pro 6455 fell into the mid-range category. While it wasn't exorbitantly priced, I couldn't help but feel like I had overpaid for a headache-inducing device. In hindsight, I would have gladly paid a little extra for a printer that actually functioned as advertised. In conclusion, the HP ENVY Pro 6455 was a nightmare disguised as a printer. From its infuriating setup process to its unpredictable behavior, it left me questioning my sanity. If you're looking for a printer that will provide you with a stress-free printing experience, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This printer turned printing into a circus, and I'm still recovering from the laughter-induced headache it gave me. ... show more

  • Easy setup, avoid the bloatware!
This printer has been streamlined to be easily setup within 10 minutes of removal of the packaging. It comes with starter ink that will easily allow you to print ~100-150 pages. I had a backlog of documents I needed to print/scan so I was able to go through most of my starter black cartridge on day one. Here is my only advice: Look for the printer drivers on the HP support website by searching the model of printer. (HP Envy Pro 6455) and download the software. Do the printer setup that walks you through installing paper, ink, and printing test pages. DO NOT accept any of the prompts to collect data and DO NOT set up an HP account unless you NEED to use their software to print/scan. If you are like me, you will never use these things. Once you've completed these steps you can remove the software as the printer is now on your network. From there, you can use the IP address of the printer to make any modifications or check toner levels. Printing from iPhone works PERFECTLY without any software. You only need the software if you want to remotely print meaning you are NOT on your home WiFi. Any device on your WiFi will find the printer with no issues and print perfectly. This review was posted 6/11/21, if for any reason I have issues I will return to update this review with my complaints. As of today, smooth sailing. ... show more

  • So cool!
Bought my VERY FIRST printer. And I have to say its freakin AWESOME!!!!!! It came with ink (which i didnt know). which made it easier to use ASAP. I absolutely love the features this printer has. The little chime it makes when its done printing is so cute. I also love how it tells me in the app what is wrong with my printer (cuz originally i had no idea how to work this thing) I also love the backlit display where the paper prints from. Its so cool. Probably my favorite part. I wish it came with more set up instructions ( i had to google a thing or 2 ) but otherwise it was very easy to set up. This is definitely worth the purchase. It has passed my product test for my etsy shop Phase 5 Organics. Its super easy and convenient to print things in a snap. I wish i knew everything my printer could do...Like, does it print on sticker paper? Would be awesome if i could use this printer to label my products. Thank you! ... show more

  • Installation was ridiculous
The installation of this device in Window 10 is absolutely terrible. It's supposed to 'automatically' join your network at power up, my guess is this only works if it detects an unsecured wireless network. Since it doesn't, you then get prompted to connect it with a USB cable (not included) and install the HP software. However, the instructions direct you to a HP site where it then forwards you to a Microsoft App version of the HP software, which installs OK, but after 5 attempts never detects the device via USB After wasting at least an hour waiting for the WIndows app store version to communicate via USB, I searched the HP site and found a direct driver download which worked, and I was then able to complete the setup. Installation I give a 0/10. absolutely horrid, and i feel bad for anyone trying to set it up without IT experience. print quality seems good so far, so I am hopeful the hard part is out of the way. Good luck installing this device ... show more
