I received it but the box? When the fed ex guy handed it to me? The bottom fell out and the printer parts did too. Which is probably why he was hugging it. But the printer was a refurbished and it works. Prints like I want it to. The digital screen could be little easier to tap because it doesn't seem to react well otherwise. But I figured it out. It prints and scans. It replaced a HP 8600 Pro which the 7855 is a smaller footprint on the desk but looks just like the 8600. For the most part, I like it but was frantic when it fell out of the bottom of the packaging. Don't understand that one. Never had that happen before. Just happy it works. ... show more

This is my first time buying a refurbished item, at least if this type of an item. I was nervous about what condition it would be in as well as the set up going by some of these reviews. I'm a bit tech savvy so that may be what made this easy for me. This arrived in excellent condition. While it was not in the original box, I believe that I got everything that would normally come with it. The ink cartridges were new and I had the right cords. The set up was incredibly easy. It automatically looked for my wifi connection and was easy to enter, though it's a small keyboard on the screen it was usable. I set everything up through my phone. I suggest getting the HP app, makes printing, scanning and anything else so much easier. I wasn't able to connect to the web services, and not sure I need it. I ran everything through my phone and the app. The quiet mode is worthy of the name, I can't hear it print and I'm only 8-10 feet away. I was looking into some of the ink tank models, but I don't print enough for it to pay off. Overall, I'm very happy about this purchase. It prints beautiful, everything of lined up. ... show more

    • Renew process may have been badly done (or not at all)
I just received this "renewed" printer today. The price was too good to pass up. While setting it up, the paper jammed. I tried to clear the jam and discovered a page crumbled inside. I can't be sure, but I believe that there was a jammed page inside the printer when I received it. If so, this causes me to question the "renew" process. Print quality is reasonable for a four-ink printer. Listed as 18-20 pages per minute, one would infer that it might print a page in about 3 seconds. No such speed. More like 5-6 seconds or more to print a page. I'm guessing that if one prints a multi-page document, that the pages might complete maybe 5 seconds between, but not on a small job. I have had to clear jams in 5 out of 7 of my first prints. It just printed 4 pages in a row correctly, so the jury is still out. If I get any more trouble, I will return this printer for a refund. In either case, I will update this review soon. ----------------------------------------------------------------- It is now a month since I began trying to use this printer. I think I have solved the paper jam problem: you have to use a heavier ($$) paper than most printers will reliably use. I bought a ream of 28 pound paper and the printer seems to behave very well with this. Normal draft version printing uses 20 pound paper which is much less expensive. This 28 pound paper is often used for presentation handouts to lend a bit more authenticity to what you've printed. I don't need that for everyday printing needs. In the future, I will try 24 pound paper and see if that, too, will suffice and save a buck or two. I believe that this printer should be able to use the less expensive paper and that the paper handling mechanisms were may not have been adjusted correctly either at the factory or during the renewal process. The printer does print well, is relatively fast, handles two sided printing, and is priced well. So I have raised the star rating from one to three. ... show more
