  • Good phone, great battery life... had to change camera app.
I've used this phone for just about 3 months now, and have made a few tweaks... The google camera app started acting stupid, and not working, but when I replaced it with a 3rd party camera app, it works great again. I also didn't like the google assistant stuff, always in the way, so I use Nova Launcher, to completely change the "desktop" to my liking. I don't use google assistant, and it no longer is displayed anywhere. I've had problems with step counter apps, either not starting, or stopping randomly, but I believe this is a google/android "feature" that kills background apps... I did find a very small and "simple step counter" app that seems to work most of the time now. It's probably not as fast as phones that cost 5 times more, but for the price, it packs a lot of value. ... show more

  • Excellent Phone, just one minor flaw Excellent Phone, just one minor flaw
Got this phone to replace a Motorola One Action. THE key feature I needed was solid connectivity. My old phone tended to drop the data connection in some areas - these issues have been completely resolved with Nokia. Battery life is great, also much better than the motorola - even after a day of heavy use there's still plenty of charge left. I don't recall having less than 30% Also, since it is an unlocked phone, there's virtually no bloatware pre-installed. Camera is decent - I'd say up to par with the Motorola Action One if not better. I use it for videos of my classes as well as snapshots and it handles all lighting conditions well. The only reason I'm giving it only 4 out of 5 stars is that Nokia elected to put the google assistant permanently on the main screen - I believe a change of launcher will be in order in the foreseeable future. One additional note; I'm using the phone on the T-mobile network. No issues here. Interesting fact T-mobile sells their branded/locked phone about cheaper than this one. However, they will charge you an "Upgrade Fee" that is roughly the same amount as their lower price. When I asked them what the service was that this fee supposedly covered, they could not provide a concise answer. Bottom line: This unlocked version comes to the same price as the T-mobile branded/locked phone and you have less pre-installed "Stuff" on it - definitely recommend this one! Update: lost the software connection to the front facing camera about nine months into using this phone. Thankfully still covered under warranty, but I got to remove all sensitive data and ship it to Nokia to fix. Currently struggling to find a temporary replacement. As good as the phone is otherwise, this is a major flaw and apparently a common problem with Nokia ... show more

  • Simply Awful. Nokia has lost its way... again.
As a Finlander I try to support Nokia. I bought the 5.3 and was happy with it, but the battery started getting short and I wanted to try a 5G phone. So I immediately went to this G400. Massive mistake. Sadly this is not the simple robust phone I was hoping for at all. As received, the main camera does not seem to be compatible with google camera anymore. (???) The screen is constantly fighting me and self-interrupting swipe gestures. The speaker sounds as bad as a drive through order speaker with zero exaggeration. I could not possibly be less happy with this phone. Update: I realize I was way too easy on this phone in the original review. The battery life is significantly lower than its predecessors. It also has several times gotten stuck charging at 75%, requiring a reboot to resume. The phone also no longer fast charges at all, on several new chargers that it worked with only for the first few weeks. As a Finalnder, I am genuinely ashamed of this phone :( ... show more

  • Almost sent it back! Glad I didn't.
Was initially disappointed when the phone would not work in mobile data mode. I bought this phone to take with me overseas. I had WiFi before leaving for the airport and didn't try the data out before leaving. I have a Digicel SIM card and thought for some reason the problem was due to being in the US. Upon arriving I expected it to begin working, nope. After checking my old phone I found that the APN was different from the new one. I copied the APN data from the old phone and created a new APN on this phone with the old data. Viola!! it worked. Couldn't be happier. ... show more

  • Excellent Value
One of the better phones you can find under $300, and is probably all many people need. Good battery life, nice screen, reasonably fast, and good camera for the price. No issues using social media, web browsing, and light game playing. The phone also works well as an actual phone with decent sound quality. I compared this Nokia G400 5G camera in multiple lighting conditions to a Motorola G Stylus 5G (2021), and the Nokia had a better picture in every case. For a phone at this price it has a good camera. I also compared the camera to a Pixel 7a (which cost more than double) and the Pixel 7a had a better picture in every case (as expected). So is it the best phone on the market - no, but it is a good phone for under $300. An excellent value when on sale for under $200. ... show more

  • Not fully unlocked
Phone is new, partially unlocked. unable to link with Metro PCS. Calls drop on and off. Internet connection with the towers is sub par. when it works, it works, When it doesn't work and link with the cell tower, then it doesn't work at all. Can't even receive or make phone calls. • Solid, cheap, repairable smartphone.
I only bought it for $90 but the charging port was broken. However, being a repairable phone, I bought a new charging port kit for $20 and fixed it. It runs android 12 and only has 4gb of ram so some persistent apps such as VPNs and music can be a little slow. It does have Android Auto, and the newest version of Google Play and other apps, but still supports other apps newer versions of android don't. It does have NFC for Google Pay, but does not have a wireless charger. The speaker is kind of bad, to be frank, it does not use the earpiece speaker to create stereo, and the quality is to be desired. Although, the earpiece is still pretty decent, and it does make it up with a headphone jack. ... show more

  • NOKIA G400 5G NOT Verizon Compatible
I purchased my "new" NOKIA G400 5G Smartphone February 2025. This Year! I've had it for about 8 months on My Verizon Network. As of Tuesday, October 7, 2025, I can no longer RECEIVE text messages. Text messages from my contacts just stopped appearing for no reason. Even Verizon cannot text me. I contacted Verizon and they advised me that this phone is OBSOLETE (the Verizon Support Tech referred to this phone as a grandfather??) Verizon advised me that it is NOT COMPATIBLE with the Verizon Network. The Verizon Support Tech further advised me that because the NOKIA G400 5G Smartphone it is NOT COMPATIBLE, I will experience little or no connectivity with my contacts or anyone else. The NOKIA G400 5G Smartphone listed on Amazon is described as Verizon Compatible. A bargain price is not always the best option. Also, in case you're not aware, the SIM card is not included with this Amazon NOKIA G400 5G Smartphone and you must have a SIM card, in my case a Verizon SIM card for the phone to function. BUYER BEWARE! ... show more
