  • Error with printer cartridges but GREAT customer service
Size: Printer+100 Sheets
Edited to add: Below I detailed an issue I had with the printer not working due to an error whereby it did not detect the ink/cartridge properly. I wrote my review before customer service had a chance to address my issue. They wrote me several times to assess the problem so I grew impatient thinking we were getting nowhere when in reality they were trying to determine which avenue to take for a solution. After they understood what the root of the matter was, they escalated my communication to the proper department which then sent me a replacement printer. I was able to use the ink cartridges that were previously showing up in the app as "empty" and I am now back to printing BEAUTIFUL photos. I was so upset before, I didn't mention all the things I loved: - The paper cassette sits on top of the printer for a smaller footprint (easy storage) when not in use. - There is only one physical button on the printer to have to deal with - just requires you press for a certain amount of time or multiple times depending on which function you need. - You can print 5 different ways - with the app, from your android, from an iOS device, connected to your PC via USB, or connected to your PC via Wi-Fi. - As mentioned in my original review, connectivity is a breeze and the app is user friendly. - I didn't know this when reading the description on Amazon but there is an ID printer function... This was super helpful in that I've used it to print passport photos so I didn't have to pay the USPS to take/print them for me! I'm so glad this company didn't just consider me and my printer a lost cause and solved the issue. For anyone else in the same boat, I would just recommend giving them a chance to remedy the problem. We get so used to fast fixes, it is easy to forget sometimes that just because a company is going back and forth with us does not mean that all hope should be lost. This little device brings such cheer! It was worth the wait of getting it replaced. ***************************************************************************************** I purchased the bundle with 3 ink cartridges. The first cartridge is labeled that there is enough ink for 20 photos. The other 2 are labeled to be enough for 40 photos each. I got 4 photos out of the first cartridge and then it said empty. What's worse is that even when I replaced with either of the other 2 new cartridges, the printer still indicates an empty cartridge! I contacted customer service with a screenshot of the error message and the explanation that even brand new cartridges are registering as empty. Their response/advice was to reset the printer and clean out any debris (even though my printer is brand new). After following their advice, the printer still won't work! The 4 pictures I was able to print came out beautifully and using the app was easy. But if that's all I get for the price I paid and customer service can't help fix the issue, this item is definitely not worth the price. ... show more

  • Bought 3 Years Ago Today Bought 3 Years Ago Today
Size: Printer+20 Sheets
I bought the Leine printer precisely 3 years ago today. I've never had a single problem with it. I figured it was time to review it. I'm an amateur photographer. I shoot digital with my mirrorless Sony A7R5, and 35mm with a variety of vintage glass and cameras. I've been a photographer for 40+ years now. I started printing my own photos when inkjet printers first came out. I still own an HP 4 x 6 photosmart printer that's almost 20 years old, and discontinued years ago. The problem with inkjet is the initial cost of ink, and the waste; it dries out, and you go through a lot of ink to clean the jets, let alone to print high resolution. For the most part, 4 x 6 is a good size for my prints. I have thousands of photos. If I want a larger color print, I'll order it. Otherwise, I can print black and white photos on my laser printer. It's much cheaper in the long run to use thermal dye sublimation. The ink is in sheets that look like colored cellophane. It ever dries out and there are no jets to get clogged. The printer lays 3 separate colors while printing, which is interesting to watch. The ink is instantly dry, and it's archival. The printer does have a tendency to print a tad darker than what I see in Photoshop. This is correctable through calibration, and each computer/device will be different. In fact, I have 2 new laptops, so this may not even occur anymore. I've simply tweaked my photos a tad on the old laptop; as a result, I get beautifully sharp, true color rendering. The printer is wifi, creating its own wifi hotspot. You simply go to your Wi-Fi settings and connect your device to "Leine". It's a good solid connection that has never dropped. Each photo is fed 3x, but I find it plenty fast. I've never wasted a cartridge, or paper. It prints every time. The tray of paper stores magnetically on the top of the printer, which is great and makes it very portable. It saves space and it never gets lost. I bought a small hard case to store the printer; I recommend you do this. You'll find a good variety of cases meant for the Leine printer here on Amazon. I think mine cost around $20. The Leine printer has been a good investment for me. I can control the prints. When you order prints, they simply print what you order, never looking at the centering, sizing, or quality. The last time I ordered several 4x6 prints, 1/2 were unusable. I build acoustic guitars, and restore historical Guitars. The prints were to display some of my past work at a guitar show. I will never order prints again. I know there are a couple of choices for 4x6 color printers today. I'm very happy with the Leine printer. ... show more

  • Excellent print quality, but serious software and documentation issues Excellent print quality, but serious software and documentation issues
Size: Printer+100 Sheets
[ Update July 18, 2025. The company got in touch regarding some of the observations in the review and has said they're working on software and documentation updates. I appreciate their response and for that reason I'm adding 1 star to the rating. If the software updates are good I'll definitely increase to 5 stars. Considering the excellent print quality, it's certainly worth 5 stars.] The print quality is fantastic. I've been taking and printing photographs for a long time and have never seen such excellent quality right out of the box, so to speak. The Liene completely smokes my wife's older Epson 4x6 inkjet printer (which we stopped using due to connection problems and inkjet clogging). «Liene Image quality» Given a properly exposed and correctly color-balanced original image, you'll get outstanding print quality—see the photos I've attached to the review. The reproduction of the bright red in the one picture is flawless. (Both were taken by a mobile phone.) Neither photo has gained or lost contrast. The neutral areas are very clean. Highlight detail is preserved perfectly. The prints are 99% faithful to the originals. Excellent results. «Connection» We connected a Google Pixel 7A and an iPhone 16 to the printer without difficulty right after installing the Liene apps. The connections were instant—faster than Bluetooth. Now the bad news—why I gave the printer 3 stars instead of the 5 stars it deserves (!). Part of the problem is the software itself. There are also major documentation issues. Liene has got to improve its documentation! «Internet access disabled» Apparently by design, the Liene private wifi network is not meant to connect to the internet. On both Android and iPhone, when we connect the phones to the printer their internet access is disabled even if the phones are still connected to our home wifi. I'm guessing this is how it's supposed to work when a phone connects to a private wifi network lacking internet access. When we were running the Liene app and wanted to connect from within it to Liene's own site, we first had to turn off the phone-to-printer connection. It might all be by design but it was downright confusing until we realized the private network was the problem. Liene should document this _explicitly_. «Compatibility issue: Lenovo tablet» The Google Play store informed me that the Liene app can't be installed on my Lenovo tablet, which is running the latest Android version. The software just isn't compatible with that model. Disappointing. I don't know if this applies to other Android tablets or iPads. It's another thing Liene should document explicitly. (But, why not make the app compatible with tablets in the first place?) «Unpleasant bug in the iPhone app» When I print from the Android phone, when I'm done I can return immediately to my photo gallery (within the Liene app) and find something else to print. No such luck with the iPhone. After my wife made her first print on the iPhone, the Liene app has remained stuck on that first image. We haven't been able to "clear" the photo and display her photo gallery again within the app. It seems to me we'll have to uninstall and reinstall the app on her phone. But then we might have the same problem again. Super annoying. She did find a workaround: She opens the iPhone's photo gallery, picks one or more image(s), and prints directly to the Liene. But then she can't select certain features provided by the Liene app. She's ok with it for now, but it's far from ideal. That bug needs fixing. The workaround doesn't work at all on my Android phone. When I try it, I get only an error message saying that the phone can't find the printer, even though they are already connected. It's another thing Liene needs to fix. «Annoying design flaw in the Android app» I was kind of astonished that I can print only one image at a time via the Liene app. It does not support selecting more than one image at a time. Come on, Liene—why limit the software that way? It isn't exactly a benefit to the user. Conclusion: So we figured out how to deal with these issues, and as I say the print quality is outstanding. We'll live with limitations for now considering the high quality prints. But Liene REALLY needs to work on its software issues and documentation. ... show more

  • Worked once and not again...
Size: Printer+100 Sheets
I am so disappointed in this little printer. I had high hopes for it too. I purchased it and the Kodak photo printer that is similar at the same time (during the July '25 Amazon Prime Days). My husband (has worked in IT for 25 years) and I tested the two together. Hands down, the Liene printed better photos and was easier to connect to which was very important for what I planned to use it for. Planned use: I am a Children's Pastor and have a huge Trunk or Treat event every year. I had a photo background all set up and someone to manage the printer. The plan was to let families have their picture taken via cell phone, print it within a few minutes and take it with them in a nice 4X6 card holder/frame that I purchased. At the event: The printer would not connect. My husband spent 45 minutes trying to get it to work and a friend who is an IT Director spent twice as long as he was determined to figure it out. He went to the Liene website and made sure the drivers were updated and all of it. He finally had to give up. We had close to 400 people come through our event in two hours and I couldn't offer any photos. I even purchased additional cartridges and printer sheets because I expected so many people. Bottom line: It worked great once but when I needed it, it failed. Now I have extra printer sheets/cartridges to return along with 300 card holder photo frames. It's past 30 days so I can't return the machine to Amazon but am trying to see if I purchased a warranty at the time. This was going to be the cool, new thing I was offering this year. At least there was cotton candy. The kids loved that. ... show more

  • Great printer
Size: Printer+100 Sheets
Easy to use and makes a great photo. Colors are really good and there is no drying time. Occasionally, it has had a bug that won’t pick up the paper, but not enough to be a huge problem.

  • You can olny use it through wifi not Bluetooth or USBC
Size: Printer+100 Sheets
I don't love it. Set up isn't difficult. Scan the qr, download the app, make an account, connect to the printer and start printing. It isn't a terrible printer, however for the price I expected it to function better. It won't work unless you connected to its wifi, then it won't stay connected to the phone. It won't print using the USB c outlet nor will it let you remove any pictures from the app. So, unless you want to print the same 9 pictures you're stuck trying to use the app. The other option that isn't reliable leaves you waiting for it to print from the phones pictures app. I will say the paper quality is fine, but the longevity of the ink is poor. Perhaps I got a dud? I'm not thrilled and do not have the time to keep dealing with it. I will return this item. ... show more

  • Difficulty connecting with phone
Size: Printer+100 Sheets
This took me quite a while to figure out and connect with my android phone. I have a Pixel9. It does provide QR code and an app. Once I got to the right app, it was much easier, but it took me well over an hour to figure it out. That being said, the picture quality is pretty good, not a sharp as I would like, but for instant printing and size of photos it is very nice. I love that it came bundled with extra ink and paper. Would have liked if it has rechargeable capability, but I chose this model. No paper jamming. I hope it will be a reliable and quick way to get a photo versus having to order prints or visit a store to have prints done. ... show more

  • Worked only ONE time....
Size: Printer+100 Sheets
I used this printer once, about 2 months after I received it. It worked well, and I was pleased with the overall quality of the photos for a quick home printer. At that point I had zero complaints and was happy with my purchase. A couple weeks later, I tried to print photos again, and it did not work. Initially it flashed the tool icon, but it did not tell me what the problem was. I messed with it for about 5 minutes--trying to print the photo over and over, and finally it told me I needed to replace the ink cartridge. After replacing the cartridge, I tried to print again, to no avail. I will spare you all the rest of the details and how much time I wasted trying to get this little printer to work. I even unplugged it and tried again the next day--nothing. It is super disappointing to pay this much for something and only have a 30-day return window. Too much money to only get it to work once, yielding 20 photos. In the past I owned a Cannon Selfie photo printer. At least that one lasted for a couple years before it quit. This printer has a lot of good reviews, which is why I was willing to give it a try. Hopefully I got a lemon, and the rest of them work better. ... show more
