This is perfect for my craft room. While it didn't come Wi-Fi ready. I have my Wi-Fi antenna from the old desktop and this unit is Rockin and Rollin now. Great deal. This one issue I had was that when it was being refurbished the hard drive connector plug was not fully inserted and it kept giving an "IDE device failure" I googled that issue on my laptop and found that, that is one of the possible issue causing it. The correction was very easy. This unit can be opened up by removing the thumb screw on the back, easy to do.

Took a bit of time! Only issue was a was the wifi adapter it came apart in the port and the shell is still in it. Luckily I just pulled the one from my other Pac. Now, I have to buy another one for my other PC. But, other than the normal grap you do when start up a new PC it seems to work pretty good. It does get very loud which I am not use to. Fan I am assuming is just louder than my older huge box stand up. It’s slower than I expected but that’s my fault I bought wrong one but it doing a need to add more ram but as ut is it’s more than good as is for the cost. Wifi adapter not so much as it’s casing is still inside. I would purchase again for office not gaming!

I can run Ubuntu Linux (WSL) on my Windows machines but I wanted a full Linux installation so I bought this EliteDesk 800 for a great price. It arrived quickly in working order. The only exception is the optical disk drive which I don’t need. I replaced the HDD with an SSD that I had on hand and installed the latest long term supported version of Xubuntu (Ubuntu Linux with the light XFCE desktop). It boots in about fifteen seconds and runs just about everything I want. I love its speed. This older HP is a well-built machine.

This item honestly deserves no stars at all! However, it won't allow me to submit the review without giving a star. I purchased this desktop and everything looked fine when I removed the items out of the box. However, by the second day of owning it and browsing the internet. The entire computer would just shut off and restart. I also tried to connect multiple monitors to the desktop and one of the monitors simply would not work even after trying different adapters. I contacted HP (the manufacturer) and they stated that there might be system updates needed. After one update was shown as possibly needed per the manufacturer's site and the update was completed, the problem still continued with the computer shutting down on it's own. The manufacturer also tried having me change some settings as well as changing the settings back to default. Neither of those options worked. The manufacturer concluded that there must be a hardware issue within the computer and that the computer is defective. They advised me to notify the company that I purchased the desktop from (AMAZON) to request a refund. They also wanted me to make sure Amazon knew about this third party seller (SJ Computers LLC) selling a defective item to me. After speaking with HP I noticed that the computer had stopped shutting down completely in the middle of usage but now the computer would start displaying a completely blue screen with a stop code error and restart on it's own. It would do this more frequently than when the computer was shutting down on it's own. I've since returned the product back to Amazon in order for them to return it back to the third party seller (SJ Computers LLC). However, Amazon seems to be buying themselves time on processing my refund back to me for this defective product. They (Amazon) seem to be trying to buy time to get the item sent back to the third party seller (SJ Computers LLC) in order for them to verify that they received everything back before Amazon releases my refund back to me or before the third party company releases the refund back to Amazon so that they can release it to me. Either way, this has been the worse purchase that I've ever experienced especially since it's taking so much trouble to simply get my refund back. Amazon is being very secretive and non transparent about whether they even have received the item back (UPS confirmed that Amazon in fact does have the item back) because when I log onto my Amazon account it says that Amazon cannot track the return because they have not received the item returned. That is a lie because UPS (the carrier) stated that they returned it and provided me with a slip showing the date, time, and location within Amazon where they delivered it successfully back to Amazon. The customer service has not been helpful at all and many of the customer service agents have even disconnected the phone call in the middle of the call. I have reported this to Amazon's corporate and I have also file complaints with the Better Business Bureau against both Amazon and the third party seller (SJ Computers LLC). I have also reached out to some attorneys about this matter because I refuse to wait months for my refund.

Needed just a basic computer to have in my shop for music and looking up parts and other stuff. Not using it as a gaming computer. Not going to play games while working in the shop. Probably could play some basic games on it but it is probably going to crash or choke and bog down if you try to play any cool games on it. Overall for the price, which was really good, it does what I want and took no time to set up.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the condition of this refurbished HP mini-desktop, spotlessly clean on the inside and only one very light scratch on the underside. The 8gb RAM is in two 4gb sticks which gives dual channel memory, another nice surprise. The 500gb disk is quite slow - as expected - so I replaced it with an inexpensive SSD. It has plenty of CPU grunt to run Plex server software under Linux and can easily support multiple transcoding streams and does this silently. You won't be playing any AAA games on this rig as the HD 4600 graphics chip is not designed for it but it does play full HD videos without a hitch. There is one MXM slot for upgrading the video card however very few cards are still available for such an old standard and it's doubtful the tiny power supply could support such a card. I'm very happy with my purchase and I consider this a bargain for such a nice, older desktop. Would be great to give to the kids or anyone that just needs an inexpensive way to get on the internet. It also makes a great Plex server for media needs as that is how I'm using it.
