This was a replacement for my old desktop that had a motherboard crash, and for $200, this was the most cost effective solution. Okay. FIRST thing I did was wipe 'Doze off the system and install Linux (Ubuntu/KDE)! 32G RAM makes for a nice system that gives me plenty of memory to run VMs. I'm not a gamer, so can't review it on that basis, but as a combination desktop and server, it seems to do well. Transplanted a 1TB drive from my old system to the add to 2TB one that came with it, and connected it to my 7TB NAS. Handles dual monitors nicely, one VGA, the other HD. Been in service for about three weeks now, and it's on 10-12 hours every day. No issues. ... show more

    • Great Deal and better customer service!
Bought for new audio studio. Great specs. Great deal. Unfortunately, the hard drive was defective after a couple weeks. These guys have been nothing less than top notch in the customer service department. They are sending me a replacement Hard Drive to get install myself ( which I am savvy enough to do so) but if this option doesn't seem to be the permanent fix, then they will be sending me an entire new unit/tower. Can't say enough about how helpful these guys are. And trust me, when the cpu was running( before the crash) it was smooth, fast and just an excellent product.     • No signal to the monitor
The computer looked clean when I unpacked it. Hooked it up and no signal to the monitor. Can't say anything else about it yet till I get a picture on monitor. Contacted their customer support a couple days ago, still waiting to hear from them. Will let you know how it goes. Customer service got back with me a couple of days later. Decided to get a new video card and the computer is working great. Bought a G Force card and picture is great. Thanks again for customer service getting back to me. ... show more

    • The DVD Player doesn't work
I ordered this in January 2022 but my circumstances changed I I didn't get to set it up until a couple of weeks ago, so my window for return has ended. The dvd player doesn't work. No matter what disc I put in, it doesn't read it. Device Mgr says everything is fine and it has the correct driver. Also it was supposed to have windows home 10, and it has windows pro 10 instead. Microsoft says they don't support that anymore. I advise buying a NEW computer, or if you're going to buy a refurbished one, go directly to the manufacturer website. ... show more

I completly gutted it and put in 2 tb samsung ssd and a lite on premium optical wiped the obsolete windows ten and installed ubuntu (linux) 22.05.5 system functions very well now its a four hundred dollar computer

My old HP just wouldn't turn on last Saturday. I purchased it 10 or more years ago, so it was due time to upgrade. This Elite 8300 was purchased in anxiety as a rush order but am completely satisfied with my purchase so far. It is super-fast and quiet with 32GB vs my last HP that was 3GB. Didn't know what I would expect so I thought the online purchase would just carry me until... I am out of words now for what I got that works and looks like new with hopes it will carry me another 10 years. Only use my computer for bills, and listening to YouTube but think I can use it now for more and most importantly when I go back to school. ... show more

Buyers should be aware that HP used the same model number (8300) for four different models: a full tower, a small tower, a small form factor desktop and and ultra-slim desktop. This review is of the small form factor model. The computer was thoroughly cleaned - almost like new - both inside and out. It is very quiet (though not silent) and cool in operation. Little information is given about expansion opportunities, so I will mention a few: The computer comes with an internal hard disk drive, and a CD/DVD player/recorder installed. There is an empty 3.5" drive bay, with a power connection for an additional drive, and there are two unused SATA drive connections available. There are both PCI and PCI express slots on the motherboard. The computer has a DisplayPort connector on the back, but no HDMI connector. If you have an HDMI monitor you will have to purchase an HDMI to DisplayPort adapter (about $8 on Amazon) All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase. ... show more
