This hoverboard was a gift for my 8 year old Christmas 2022. When it works, it is a great hoverboard with excellent features and operability. This quickly became my son's favorite toy. He loved it. It would be a 5 star review if the story stopped here. Unfortunately, by March (so, just over 3 months later) the board started to malfunction. Basically, the sensor in one of the footpads still thinks he's on the board even after he steps off - which then doesn't allow it to turn off correctly and sometimes the board will even continue to move/stutter/spin etc. First issue: Good luck talking to a customer service human being at Hover-1. While I could find a couple numbers to call, they all go straight to voicemail that then refers you to their website. It would appear that the only way to reach their customer service is to submit a ticket on their website (which I did). I will say they did respond to the ticket within only a couple of days, but only to let me know that the board was out of their 90 day warranty, and that "Hover-1 does not provide out of warranty services." So basically this is on me, as I should have known at purchase that a mere 90 day warranty is a major red flag. If a company produces a quality product, why warranty for only 90 days? So now I am off to find a new hoverboard for my son, which will not be another Hover-1. ... show more

Product would not work. I hit power button but it did nothing, it wouldn't turn on/off. Hoverboard would light up but would not move. After letting battery completely drain and then completing full charge cycle, I hit the power button and device turned on and now works great. Hopefully it stays that way. ... show more

Like almost half the reviews, we purchased two of these for our kids for Christmas. As soon as I plugged one in to charge it was acting weird. Fully charged both of them till the light was green and the board showed a full charge. My son was able to ride his about 30 yards and it shut off and they will toss you off the board when the shut off if you’re not careful. My daughters didn’t make it ten feet. Then they would not come on again unless you plug the charger in and turn them on again. I decided to wait overnight with them plugged in before returning them . The next morning they were doing the same thing. It’s a shame these were one of their big gifts this year. We returned both boards . ... show more

We own a couple of Hover boards in our house, and even have another Hover-1 that’s a different model. We actually really like the other Hover-1 that we have! My kids all ride around on there hoverboards everywhere and the other Hover-1 model we have is the one they tend to fight over who gets to ride it. So when this Hover-1 Ranger Pro Elecric Hoverboard became available I figured I would get it so there would be no more screaming matches between the two older kids about the hoverboards. Now it’s not that this particular hoverboard is bad or anything like that, it’s just not what I was expecting considering the price point. Especially considering the quality and price of the other one we have from the same brand, which was half of the price of this one retail. This one does work perfectly fine and is easy to ride as well. But unless you can get it for under $175 I would pass on it. ... show more

The Hover-1 Ranger Pro Electric Hoverboard is a fun toy to get around town on. The unit is very intuitive to use. As a note, everyone in our family skis, so we have a fairly good sense of balance - it only took one or two tries for everyone to step up and get going at a fairly good pace. The hoverboard is well-made, operates smoothly, and doesn't take too long to charge. I haven't noticed any issues with overheating or battery issues, and it can hold a charge for up to 8 miles. There is an option to use the unit as a portable speaker as well, but our family doesn't really utilize that feature. As much as I like to blare music to everyone on the street, it's just not my thing. The sound quality is pretty decent, although I'd rather use headphones when zipping around. To operate, simply charge the unit, then press the small silver button on the back of the unit. The hoverboard will automatically self-adjust and reset itself, then all you need to do is step on it. To move forward, you lean slightly forward, to move back, simply lean back. Turning left and right requires you to move only one foot forward while the other goes back. The unit rolled very smoothly, although it's a bit tricky to roll the unit from the street to up some driveways. I'm not sure if it's not powerful enough to go over the bump, or if we're simply going too slow over the bump, but we just couldn't get up some driveways. As far as overall travel distance, the unit does seem to last 8 miles and goes fairly quickly. It takes some time to charge once the battery is empty, but it didn't seem to have any issues while charging. Out of caution, I would charge it in a room you're in and no charge it any longer than the required 6 hours. One added bonus is that you can use the unit, then turn it off and leave it for a few weeks then return to it and go. We left it for two weeks without using it and found that it still had a great charge when we got around to it again. Overall, this was a great first hoverboard unit for our family to play with.
