  • Light duty but super fun
These are super fun, but they are not large and they really are not very efficient. But they are super fun! I used in my one tigress tp style hot tent over the winter on several occasions and had a blast. Cooked on it, used it for heat, and just overall ambiance. You do need to continually add wood and it is not a large stove, so be prepared to add wood hourly, not recommended to use while sleeping anyway, so not a problem. They heat up!! Had a red glowing chimney pipe pretty quickly, but worked great and the next day when all was cooled off it worked great. They add to the experience and have a small footprint, are light weight, and portable. This is not the unit for a practical continuous use situation like a cabin, workshop, etc., but is fun for those occasional outdoor winter weekend when you want to play woodsman! ... show more

  • 5 stars Hot Stove for Camping
We love this little guy! We have used it for camping in rain and wind conditions. We created a "hot tent" setup with a not a fully closed space, but good enough to block the wind and rain. This little stove is amazing! Pro: starts up easily. It is well designed to pull through the chimney and it has oxygen control slats at the bottom for air intake. You get some but not much smoke when you open the door. It burns hot! Look at the photo to see the chimney glow red. It puts out heat well. We even cook on it. The side metal bars that fold out are great for drying clothes or keeping food warm - they seem sturdy, we've put pots with food on them and no issues with sturdiness. The portability and storage is great: the chimney fits inside the stove, the legs fold down, the side racks are handles. Con: it is a wood guzzler. I mean you really go through the wood quickly. The size is small so you need to have your wood chopped at half-length. This is annoying when camping: we had to buy a portable saw. You are almost always going to be chopping wood, that's how quickly this burns. You have to watch it every 15 min as it will burn out and you lose heat. But this is the case with all small stoves. Going forward, we are pre-cutting wood at home. The air intake control is there, but I find it not very helpful: i could not get that sweet spot of slower burning: either it burned very hot, or i choked it and it died down. I tried many times to get it right. I wish there had been a better way to control this than the front slats. The door glass got dark and soot very quickly. You have to clean it once a day if you want to see the fire. I give it because it does well what we wanted it to do: put out heat, no smoke, portable. ... show more

  • Compact, Efficient, and Great for Cold‑Weather Camping
This portable wood stove is a nice addition to any camping or ice‑fishing setup. The size is just right—compact enough to transport without hassle, yet large enough to generate meaningful heat. Once assembled, it feels sturdy and stable, and the 71" chimney pipe does a good job venting smoke away from your shelter. It heats up quickly and maintains a steady burn, making it great for warming up a tent or small outdoor space on chilly nights. Cooking on it is surprisingly convenient. The flat top surface handles small pots and pans well, and the stove burns efficiently enough to keep a consistent temperature for simple meals. It’s versatile too, working well for everything from boiling water to heating up a skillet. The design makes ash cleanup manageable, and the airflow control is decent once you get used to it. If there’s one area for improvement, it’s the assembly instructions—they could be clearer, especially for first‑time stove users. But once everything is put together, the stove performs reliably and adds a lot of comfort to outdoor trips. Overall, it’s a dependable, well‑built option for campers who want warmth, cooking capability, and portability in one package. ... show more

  • Awesome portable wood burning stove
I picked up this wood stove as part of the Amazon vine review program. My wife and I do a ton of camping in our RV. We like to sit outside in the evenings. Some places we travel will not allow an open fire pit. I saw this item and thought it would be an awesome alternative. We love it! This is basically a mini wood burning stove like one you would see in a house. You obviously wouldn't use this in a house, but you get the idea. The stove comes almost fully assembled. All you have to do is take it out of the box and attach the stove pipe. This heater will burn pieces that are about 18 inches long. It is the perfect size for camping. All the pieces pack up inside the heater. There are 2 metal handles that fold up on top of the heater and you can literally carry it with one hand. This little stove is well made, and there is even a metal plate on top you can put a pot on for cooking. The stability of the stove makes it safe to use. It comes with a great pair of heat resistant gloves to. The manufacturer really did a great job of making it portable. The instructions say it can be used with sauna stones to create a tent sauna. I don't plan to use it for that but it appears it would work well for that purpose. I am really glad to add this to our camping kit. Love it! ... show more

  • Good Heat, but Door Lacks Seal and Can Cause Smoke Leaks
I tested this Gyfent portable wood stove for camping and ice fishing, and while it produces good heat for its size, the front door does not have a gasket or seal. Because of this, smoke can leak out around the door, especially during startup or when adjusting airflow. Hence the lower rating. Fix that and it would have gotten a much better rating. The stove itself is sturdy and heats quickly, and the chimney and damper work as intended once the fire is established. However, the lack of a door seal makes it harder to control the burn rate and can result in smoke escaping instead of going fully up the chimney. It’s a usable stove with decent build quality, but adding a proper front door seal would significantly improve smoke control, efficiency, and overall performance particularly for use in tents or shelters. ... show more
