While this is not an industrial grade roofing heat gun, it is a very nice DIY tool. I used it to repair a Hobie Adventure Island that had been damaged. Investing a couple hundred to repair a $6000+ kayak is well worth it. Bought the matching color 1/8" polyethylene rods elsewhere although I did just find some flat LDPE rods on Amazon. Did not use on highest setting and haven't tried it on TPO roofing membrane. It would probably be fine for a patch or two but not for doing a whole roof. I'd say that if you are in the roofing business go ahead and buy an industrial grade heat gun. If you need to do some plastic welding around the house and want a good tool, this is it. The tips are not the greatest fit but they work. As I said, if you are doing a little plastic welding for crafts, repair, projects, etc. this is a good choice. ... show more

It's not as small as I was anticipating, it's similar to grabbing hold of a fat motorcycle hand grip. It's a serious tool for what I feel, is close to commercial quality. It is constructed of plastic (handle body), metal (heating tube) and also a welcome rubberized collar towards the front of the grip. It feels good in the hand. It readily produced the necessary heat to weld the 40 mil HDPE I was working on and purchased the tool for. The kit of nozzles are most useful and the roller tool is of decent quality as well. Although, the rubber roller has a glossy coating on it that makes it a bit slippery on the plastic. The variable temperature knob on the back end is clear and precise as to its function and potential function. There are inclining numbers circling the red knob indicating minimum to maximum. The graduation from minimum to maximum seems smooth and precise. The power cord is hefty (of course), and of good length. The plastic case isn't any worse than what you'd get from the top name brands. It's simple and very utilitarian. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my choice of this tool.
