Description

The HORIPAD Plus+ for the Nintendo Switch™ is a customizable wired controller for the Nintendo Switch with special motion aim features and more. Equipped with Motion Aim technology that differs from the gyro sensor/ acceleration sensor on the Joy-Con ™ and Nintendo Switch Pro controller. When Motion Aim is activated, the Right Analog Stick input can be controlled by tilting the controller. This allows for precise motion controlled aiming and steering for games without native motion control. Adjust Motion Aim sensitivity on the fly with two unique modes: Quick Mode and Snipe Mode. Quick Mode increases sensitivity for fast aiming and movements and Snipe Mode temporarily lowers sensitivity for precise aiming and fine tuning of movements. Use the Turbo Hold in intense moments by assigning Turbo to a specific button and continuous rapid fire without having to hold the button. Set profiles and settings with the companion HORI Device Manager App for PC and connect your headset for in- game chat. Gear up and game on with the HORIPAD Plus+ for the Nintendo Switch. Officially Licensed by Nintendo.

  • wired controller great for docked play
controller works great and feels great in my hands. this controller helped me get rid of joycon drift. i have the regular switch joycons and a wireless gamecube controller and they both of joycon drift in the right stick. i only play my switch docked so this controller is great because it's not a wireless connection which im worried might be causing my joycon drift. ... show more

  • Decent controller that sacrifices too much
Sorry this review is going to be pretty long, I have been desperately trying to find the perfect controller for me but everything just has to come up short in some way; and this one is sadly no exception. In short: This controller is probably only worth it if you want that special FPS feature (which is not that useful considering how many switch games natively support gyro aiming), or need a switch controller with turbo and back buttons and don't need the dpad or the missing features (it's not really a "cheaper pro controller alternative" either, you can easily get a real Pro Controller for as much or less than this). Lack of wireless, rumble, and other bonuses isn't the biggest deal to me but it makes the price very questionable when the rest of the controller isn't perfect. D-Pad The dpad is even worse than the Switch Pro's (an already extremely low bar), which was one of my biggest reasons for trying something different from the switch pro in the first place. It's super mushy with a really low travel distance so it's hard to tell what you're pressing, and little tactile difference between sliding from one direction to the next, and when holding a direction for more than a few seconds it becomes hard to tell you're even holding it down at all and it feels like it requires more and more force to hold it down for some reason (switch pro has this issue too). Unfortunately a lot of controllers have this problem which has been one of my biggest struggles in finding a good controller; I was really hoping this controller would be different but it's the worst of the bunch so far. I've been burnt by so many dpads I really have no idea what to expect from anything anymore without being able to feel the controller myself ;-; Face buttons The face buttons are a little farther apart than the Switch Pro, not a huge deal but combined with the cliff on the southern edge of the B button for the handle, the edge presses into my thumb which is uncomfortable. The buttons themselves have a bit more resistance than the pro, but while the pro's are more comfy, this is good because the pro's can occasionally be in a limbo state where the button is between pressed and unpressed and the actual input is unpredictable. Shoulder buttons The triggers are a little less comfortable than the Switch Pro (which unlike the dpad is an extremely high bar, the Switch Pro's triggers are perfection) because for some reason the body comes up to meet them so my skin almost gets pinched when i press them. The press is also not as smooth in the corner of the triggers, which is where your fingers are going to be pressing them unless your grip is like super loose for some reason. The bumpers are also slightly less comfortable because of being angled at the edges instead of having a smooth dropoff like the pro. Other buttons The menu buttons look like the ones on the switch pro but they're actually soft rubber that depresses pretty deeply. Because of this it can be hard to tell when they actually input, unlike the pro where there is a loud satisfying click. They could be worse but the travel distance is too long for comfort The back buttons are nice, close to the perfect form and resistance that I would like. Turbo The turbo function is decent, you can bind a button to turbo and set it between 5, 10, and 20hz (would have liked the option of 15hz), or you can use the software to bind a button (probably one of the back buttons) to Quick Turbo which temporarily turbos all other concurrently pressed buttons. I would have liked some more options but it would be hard to cover every conceivable situation and I'm not experienced with turbo in general so I don't really take any points off here. Other The body while a bit big is very light because of the lack of rumble, which you might know can make a controller feel cheap. It's not a big deal but it's hard to get around that psychological hurdle; if the dpad wasn't actually bad then I might have been able to get over that feeling. The software is decent, it's not as restrictive as I feared. You have lots of control with bindings and stuff. While you can set profiles, as far as I know you have to switch them through the software which is a bit of a pain, though I think you can rebind individual buttons at any time through the controller itself. I can't speak to the gyro-stick feature since I've never had any use for it, it sounds neat I guess, though I feel the controller being wired would be a little bit of an obstacle to that... I also don't have really anything of note to say about the sticks, I think I'd prefer if they were a little lower and had a tiny bit more resistance but with any new controller I expect to have to get used to a different stick. Summary: D-Pad: 1/10 terrible Face Buttons: 7/10 fine, bit uncomfortable Shoulder Buttons: 7/10 fine, bit uncomfortable Back Buttons: 10/10 good as hoped Menu Buttons: 5/10 too soft Sticks: 8/10 little to note Software: 8/10 mostly good Total: 6.5/10 not bad, but not for me Final Thoughts Maybe it was my mistake getting this controller marketed around its "motion aim" features, hoping it would be good for other stuff? By the name I expected it to just be an upgraded Horipad but even the Horipad solved the problem of the mushy dpad by optionally separating it into buttons. I would totally get and use the Horipad if it just had back buttons; and it's less than half the price of this controller. If you don't need the motion aim, back buttons, and fancy customizable turbo etc then save yourself $30 and get the normal horipad or find something else. As for me I'll have to decide whether to risk taking it apart and trying to replace or modify the d-pad, or return it and continue my search for the perfect controller. ... show more

  • A great, cheaper alternative to the pro controller
The controller and buttons feel great. Nice to use. My only issue with the controller is that my computer reads the controller as a Xbox controller, so it uses their ABXY button functionality instead of the Switch Pro Controller. You'll have to use their HORI device manager app to swap the button layout to match the pro controller, but that'll also affect the layout on the Switch, so you'll have to keep swapping back and forth if you plan on using this controller for PC and Switch play. Aside from that, it's a great option if you want a wired pro controller for your Switch that can function as a better PC controller than the actual pro controller. ... show more

  • Been using for 2 months and snapback/bounceback is even worse than on switch pro controllers
Purchased this to play Smash Ultimate because I was hopeful analog snapback issues would be better vs pro controllers. Even if there was some snapback I figured the ability to customize deadzones would resolve any issue. Unfortunately, the snapback is so bad on this controller that I would have to set a deadzone greater than 50% to prevent it from happening at all. Not sure if this is an issue with every controller or just the one I received. Other than the snapback issues, I do like the feel of the controller overall so I'm giving this 3 stars. I will likely need to go back to a pro controller but this has held up well enough. Also the software to customize the controller on a PC was hard to find. The packaging does not tell you where to download it, and I was only able to find it on the Japanese Hori website which was hard to search, though there is an option to translate with google translate. ... show more

  • It's a wired controller with some issues
Got this for the programmable buttons on the back, even tried to use the hori app on my PC to do some button mapping, doesn't work for me. So app doesn't work, I can't edit buttons, PC registers it as an Xbox controller [ A and B buttons are swapped, can be confusing] However plugged into a switch dock, works like a normal controller, with some changes. Gyro functions differ on this controller. So it will mess with your game until you turn it off. Instructions only say where to plug it in and mentions the gyro controls. No app instructions for when you use it on pc. Still can't figure out how to program the back buttons - main purpose for my purchase. ... show more

  • Hori left in the dust (1 star!)
I gave it 5 stars so I could warn people! Hori was one of the best third party controller companies around back in the day and it is sad to see them not put any effort into the controllers anymore! This company builds solid controllers with zero modern day standard features. Gyro control, wireless gaming for pro style controllers , being able to use products on multiple platforms, Wireless gaming for their joy con alternatives and lack of standard pressure sensitive triggers (which have their pros and cons I’ll grant you). Please start making controllers that have the features that we need for today’s gaming landscape! 8bitdo seem to be the only company that are making an effort! ... show more
