  • Good for newer HVAC systems
This product was nice but never could get it to connect to the Internet or my unit as the electrician said this was for newer units my unit was 20 years old and is not compatible with it. The product is good though just not compatible with my HVAC system

  • C wire (blue wire) required
Fyi only - I take no responsibility for any work anyone does. I finally got the thermostat working after much effort. I really wanted it to work so I could control both thermostats in my house with one app. My previous thermostat was battery operated and didn’t require 24 vac to operate. This one does. I almost returned it. The thermostat wiring had a blue wire C wire but it wasn’t connected at the hvac unit. I had to pour through web posts and hvac manuals to find the wiring panel, which didn’t match the diagram in the manual. Fortunately in my case I read that the C wire had to be connected to one of two 24 Vac output terminals of a transformer- the terminal that is grounded to the metal frame of the unit. I wish the scheduler could set the mode so that ac is on for hot days and heat is on whenj cold At night but most or all ac apps don’t permit that. Follow up: my Google Home app for my nest router permits switching heat cool mode on schedule. Apple Home will too but requires hardware Homekit. I appreciate the Matter smart appliance support- lots of options to choose for future smart home set ups ... show more

  • Love the GeoFence feature. T6 working great so far - I will update if not
First off the listing I now see for this Honeywell T6 Pro I purchased as I write this review now looks like some cheap old fashioned basic thermostat. And there is no multicolored handheld remote that is shown in the second picture in the listing???? This is (was) a high-end wireless smart thermostat at a great price. Perhaps Amazon made a mistake and will correct the listing by the time you read this review. whatever - I don't know. Anyway I replaced my Honeywell Lyric Round with a Schneider Wiser smart thermostat when my Round died 2 years and 1 month after I bought it (one month out of warranty). The Lyric Round had another major flaw (other than dying) that soured me (see below) so I decided to try the Schneider Wiser instead of another Honeywell product. However when I came home on three different occasions to find my home at around 47, 52 and 55 and the Schneider indicating it was 67 in the house (therefor NOT turning the furnace on) that was enough. Had I been away longer my pipes and possibly my cat would have froze. The Schneider doesn't offer the geofence feature which was a real plus for me with the Honeywell. You can download an app for your android to monitor the temp and provide some type of geofence with the Schneider but it is a generic app that Schneider doesn't really support. Either way I wouldn't risk my cat or pipes freezing again. So I returned the Schneider Wiser. I really liked the Honeywell Home app with built in geofence so I ended up buying a Honeywell Lyric T6 wireless that works with the Honeywell Home app. The Honeywell Lyric T6 also doesn't have the flaw that the Lyric Round had when using a lithium battery without a C wire because you don't have the option to use a battery in the first place. I replaced the first battery after about a year with no problems being it wasn't dead or even indicating weak. You see the problem is that Honeywell in its ultimate wisdom feels a dying battery only rated a 'notice' on your phone. A notice that gets buried under hundreds of other notices. However Honeywell thinks the humidity dropping below 31 rates an ALERT that you can't miss on your phone and in the app. When I found the weak battery notices buried under all the other notices (user has gone outside the geofence. user is home, etc.) after the heat went off (while I was home thankfully) I couldn't believe Honeywell designed such garbage. That to me is a major flaw. That to me is just plain STUPID. Using a C wire eliminates the battery and the major flaw the Lyric Round had if you used the lithium battery option (just a bad choice that shouldn't even be offered in the first place). With the Lyric T6 you have to use a C wire (no battery option). Both the Lyric T6 and Schneider Wiser came with a C wire adapter. So I decided to give Honeywell another chance. With the Lyric T6 we can fly to Vegas for a week in the winter after filling the auto-cat feeder, liter box and setting up my web cams to check up on the cat AND monitor the temp with the Honeywell Home app. I wouldn't try that with the Schneider after the first time it screwed up. The Lyric T6 hasn't tried to freeze my cat . . . yet. ... show more

  • You must know technical details of your furnace and compressor to set up
I purchased this until to replace a T-6 that did not have Wifi. It is a plug and play replacement. No need to change the wall plate or wire anything. So the thing to understand when programming this unit is that you will need a lot of details about your furnace, compressor, etc. Example - How many stages is your compressor? Is it GF air, Heat pump, etc. So if you do not have these details, you will need to get them. Google is your friend. In my case, I could hold the center button and plus sign on the old T-6 to run through all of the advanced settings to see how the old one was set up. If you don't have that ability, google your furnace and compressor models for details. The Wi-Fi set up is easy to set up. I did make a call to tech support and it was excellent. However, they will not speak to you about most of the advanced options, because the recommend a professional install it. Advanced options are what configure the items I mentioned previously. ... show more

  • Love it
I was skeptical because of some reviews, but it arrived quickly and was easy to wire up, I have a 1 stage gas heat and 2 stage ac system with six wires one being a common wire to the furnace. It fires right up without a problem and connected to my WiFi right away , I used the app on my phone to connect the thermostat to my WiFi. I had absolutely no problems and everything is working fine. I like the ability to change the temperature from my phone without having to go downstairs to the thermostat, nice back light that is adjustable as well. You do need to know how many heating and cooling stages you have. There are sever videos on line walking you through all this and WiFi set up as well as scheduling the thermostat for different times throughout the day. I don’t have any complaints so far. ... show more
