    • Excellent Thermostat that I control with my phone.
I installed this on a Trane heat pump unit that I have upstairs. The Trane thermostat was a temperamental pice of junk. I had this thermostat on my downstairs unit and was so impressed with it's quality and functionality that I purchased this one to replace the Trane. This installation was easy and straight forward. I had one question about a jumper wire on the old Trane thermostat so I called the customer service number. They quickly answered my question and went over the rest of the wiring with me to confirm that I had everything correct. After turning the power back on I went through the on screen setup as well as syncing it to my network and phone. It works flawlessly and I live using the Honeywell app to control it. I have to admit was hesitant to spend this amount of money on a thermostat, but I needed remote access to check the temp while traveling, and adjust as needed for inside animals. It just literally pops in place of the same style I already had but it is WiFi enabled. At first I did have to have help (under 5 mins) from my A/C guy to walk me through the setup questions. But then after that it works like a charm! Super convenient even when you are just not wanting to get up and change the temp! ... show more

I purchased four of these thermostats from the seller and did not install them until later on when it was cold and I needed to know remotely what our temperature was in the house and by then had passed the return by date. When I tried to connect all four of these thermostats none of them worked and I still cannot get them to connect to the Wi-Fi even with a 2.4 modem. I spent hours on the phone with Honeywell support and they told me that it is a fight between Apple and Honeywell and then had an android phone try to connect them and still did not work. Huge HUGE disappointment and A LOT of money spent on four thermostats that don’t work and cannot tell me remotely what heat temperature is in my house in northern Vermont. Beware. I fear I was sold bad thermostats and can’t return them to get new ones to see if that is the case. ( I have these same thermostats in two other houses and they work like a dream which I is why I think I bought defective goods). UPDATE- the fight btwn apple and Honeywell/ now residio has been resolved and I tried to connect 3 of them again and they work perfectly. 1 is not working correctly, but considering I was going to loose all 4 I am in better shape. ... show more

    • WiFi Interferance Causes App to Go Offline Constantly

The Honeywell thermostat suddenly would not communicate with the WiFi App and reported a WiFi Radio Error. We discovered an issue when using 2.5 GHz WiFi. Read on for our test results. -- WiFi INTERFERENCE APLENTY: The Thermostat would report WiFi Radio Error after a few minutes, and it would not respond to the Resideo App, but the wall-mounted unit would still operate normally, it just could no longer be controlled by the app over WiFi. After spending six weeks troubleshooting, working with the Resideo Support (who were very helpful), and even replacing it with a new unit where the problem still occurred, it can only be WiFi interference. We even moved any nearby WiFi devices, but they would still drop out. After it goes Offline, the Thermostat would never reconnect on its own, and we would have to pull it from the connector and plug it back in. usually, it would work for a few hours and then go offline again. The Thermostat does not have a 5 GHz WiFi option which might have helped if we could connect to that. -- GOOD SUPPORT: The Resideo support was good, quick to respond, and knowledgeable about the Thermostat while not solving my issue, providing tips to help troubleshoot. -- THERMOSTAT WORKS WELL: The Thermostat, either via the panel or over the app with WiFi, works well.....when it works. It's simple to use. -- WARRANTY WARNING: If the Thermostat is a Pro model, it means a contractor installed it, and if it fails, the contractor will want labor costs to replace it. There is no method to have a warranty replacement provided to a consumer, whether a contractor or a Pro model. The labor cost will far exceed the cost of purchasing a replacement that you can so easily install yourself. It simply pulls out from a socket, and a new one is inserted. A contractor wants $300 to do that. Conclusion: This model thermostat is one to avoid. ... show more
