    • Thermostat is amazing
Our thermostat broke a couple years ago and we got along with it jimmy rigged until a couple weeks ago. We had been putting off getting a new one because we were worried about the hassle of reinstalling and the worry that it wouldn't work. Ordered this one last week, got it in less than a week. Very sturdy design, which I loved. We had the very old version (probably around the 1980's) and it wasn't as big, but also broke very easily. Installing it took about 15 minutes, and worked right away. The instructions were very well laid out, and the system was very easy to install. The old system took longer to take off than this one took to put up! So far, haven't had any issues, and it's been wonderful to have a working thermostat again.     • Direct plug-and-play replacement for failed unit
With a strong pull the failed unit will release from its base and socket. Then plug the new unit into the socket and you're as good as new! The included base can be discarded; easier to reuse the original. One star removed because the previous unit of same model failed. Albeit there are three zones in my home and only one of three thermostat units has failed in the nearly 15yrs that have elapsed since original installation. ... show more

    • Oldtime reliability
We got tired of the programable thermostat always needing to be adjusted anyway when set temperatures were either too hot or too cold based on the type of day - windy, damp, sunny, sunny and windy, etc. We went back to this original manual thermostat and couldn't be happier. We set it to the temperature we want when we want it to suit the day's weather at any time it needs adjustment. At bedtime we set it down to 67 degrees. Not difficult.     • When It Comes to Thermostats; If It's Not Broken......
When we renovated we had our house divided into heat zones we got chrono-thermostats in every zone and tried the heat up/down thing for a year or so. We were freezing all the time and our fuel costs actually went up. When you let your room temperature go down too low for too long it takes the temperature of everything else in the room with it. So when the heat comes on the air warms up quickly so the thermostat kicks off the heat. Problem is all your furniture and your floor (and your bed) are all still freezing cold. So everything in the room and the floor quickly cools down the air temp and the heat comes back on. But the air itself heats up quickly and the heat comes back on. Problem is....... So then we tried just using the chrono-thermostats as regular thermostats but they just wouldn't stay set at one constant level. So we went out, bought good old reliable Honeywell dial thermostats just like the ones in the houses we grew up in. Now we're warm again and saving money on propane. ... show more

    • Needed quickly for heat!!
My thermostat decided to quit during a cold spell this past winter. Thankfully I had an honest oil tech visit to determine this, although I knew beforehand. He was awesome and showed me how to install it myself after buying the part on Amazon! So I needed this in a hurry to get my heat back on.
