Great improvement over our previous 'unintelligent' thermostat. The location it was installed was in the coolest room in the house and managing the temperature in the bedrooms was very difficult. This thermostate uses your home wifi to connect to remote sensors. You can set priority so that it uses the sensor in the room that is occupied. In our case we did have to have the C wire connected as our previous set up didn't have it connected. You can do it yourself but we had our tech do it during the spring inspection. I wasn’t sold on buying this product initially, but now that we have it it’s great. You can monitor your home temperature from your phone. There is an extra sensor to put in a different area of your home to help better regulate the zones of your house.     • A few hiccups on install, but works great
The Honeywell Home App referred to in the instructions no longer exists. It is now called Resideo Smart Home. That's a bit of a misnomer, as all it does is control your thermostat, not your entire home. But there it is. Connecting the T9 to a wifi was a journey. It would not connect to the 2.4GHz or 5 GHz SSIDs I set up for my Xfinity Xfi router. Fortunately, I have another router I've set up as an access point in a room that is further away, and I was able to connect to that. The Alexa skill didn't stay connected when I connected through the app. I kept getting a "server unabailable" message about 20 minutes later. Further research disclosed that it sets up a skill in Alexa called the Resideo skill. I went into Alexa, disabled the skill, and then reactivated it in Alexa. When activating the Resideo skill in Alexa, I needed to set up yet another account on the Resideo website. So the login I used for the app didn't carry over to the Resideo website. But fortunately, I now have a stable Alexa connection. For the display of outdoor temperature in the Smart Home app, when you first start/load the app on your iphone, it will update the current weather ONCE. Say you open the app in the morning when it's 38 degrees, and it warms up to 55 degrees. If the app stays loaded in the background with all the other apps on your iphone, it will continue to show an outdoor temp of 38 degrees all day long, even though it will update other data from the thermostat. You have to close the app and relaunch it to match the current outdoor temperature reported on the thermostat. I would call that a "usage quirk". Speaking in more general terms, while the T9 thermostat itself seems to be very well designed, the "ecosystem" setup has some rough edges. On the plus side, the use of remote temperature and humidity sensors is brillant. With all of that said, and with the challenges I have been fortunate enough to overcome, I am happy with my purchase. Just be aware you may have to go an extra mile (well, maybe a few feet) to wring out all the features this great thermostat has to offer. ... show more

    • Use with Home Assistant works great
my home temp has been more consistent since I replaced my old thermostat with this one. I use Home Assistant as my home automation platform, and this connected into it without issue. I'm able to control this from my phone. the room sensor was also easy to setup and attach to the wall.

Yet another device for which I'll get minimum functionality because the app has no respect for privacy. I had hoped to maybe adjust the temperature from bed... But no, it wants 24/7 access to my location (for functions I don't want) or else the App won't even start.     • Main device worked flawlessly troubles syncing the room sensor
Set up of the main device physically was done by somebody else but it looked easy enough. He did not use the bypass by changed the wire from the wall for me. So I cannot attest to that. I had trouble syncing the room sensor I gave up for a day and then all of a sudden it worked. The whole system has had no issues about a month now. ... show more
