Read and follow the installation instructions. They are step by step and very clear. Once I hooked up the two ends of the hose from the unit to the window I just turned it on and began cooling right out of the box. Do take a few minutes to read the entire book. Find what the different "modes" are how to set to cooling. The remote has a power on button on top, up and down temp setting next, then fan speed. Once you set the min temp, say 78 for a small room the unit will start cooling and cycle within a 3 to 4 degree range to keep it cool. It is not totally silent, but has a white noise quality to it. Better than lying in bed sweating for 4 or 5 hrs till it cools down outside. Besides all that it is a Honeywell air conditioner and its sold by Amazon. We don't normally have a need for A/C but it was very nice to have it. Just a few things first, this beast uses a lot of electricity. It really needs to be on a dedicated electrical line. If you do not have the ability to do that you really need to unplug ALL other electrical devices on that line and at the very minimum, turn them ALL off. We have an old home with metal face plates on the outlets and the face plate was EXTREMELY hot, almost too hot to touch - THIS IS BAD. We did connect it to a line that we knew had nothing else on it and all was good again. But do try and heed the warning of having it on it's own line, this could save you from a fire. Now that's out of the way, this can keep a room that is a little more than 500sq/ft at a reasonable temp of about 75F with several people in the room. If you plan on cooling anything bigger than that, you better have lower expectations for how cool you want the room to be. It's not quiet but it isn't loud either. If you have a smaller room, this thing will freeze you out. It's a good unit and it is very tough, our box that it was shipped in was absolutely and literally in tatters and mostly just packing tape - but it was totally fine. We got this for a 1000 ft2 cabin where we will only need A/C a couple of times a year. Not worth the expense of putting in a full system, but nice to have on those really hot evenings. It works as Advertised, cools the room it's in and is amazingly quiet. The hardest part is getting the window vent installed. Our windows have a 1/2" deep groove the window drops into when closed. The circular vent opening in the window mount panels goes right up to the top and bottom of the panel, so we can't just set the panel in the window sill, we have to put a slat into the sill to level it. Then the window panels can be held in place by the window and the hose will fit into the hole. ... show more

We installed the Honeywell portable air conditioner in the bedroom, about 400 sq feet. It was straightforward and easy to install though the window kit that came with it wasn’t enough to have an air tight arrangement. I did notice a few gaps and had to cover this using a seal that I had to purchase locally. It would vary based on your window length and would be useful to purchase the additional window kit as an addition that most of the customers purchase instead of the unit that comes with it. Also the hose length was enough for us but do note that if you need the portable unit closer to the middle of the room, you will have to invest in a longer hose. Overall we are very happy with our purchase and love the fresh cool air that it’s circulating. Very easy to install and from unboxing to fresh air can be as short as 20 mins. ... show more

Granted we only got this in today so I can't say yet how it will hold up but my husband and I are SO impressed with this ac so far. Set up was quick and easy, the unit itself isn't very heavy. The temp was reading 83 in our room when we first turned it on and it dropped down to 68 (which is what we set it to) within about an hour. We live in South TX and the current "real feel" temp outside is 105 so that's pretty impressive. I read a few comments talking about the unit being loud- I would not consider if loud at all. You can obviously hear it but it isn't distracting or too noisy. I work from home and am on calls all day- no issues with the noise level. At least so far I would absolutely recommend, I am in love with it. ... show more

Complete waste of money. Even with proper draining and cleaning. The unit leak at the bottom for no reason and ruined the floor . Not only that cant find literally anything anywhere to buy replacement parts in my haste to maybe fix the problem and nothing. Unit is basically done after a year and you only get a one year warranty. Not only that but the air conditioner will just randomly decide to shut off the cooling then kick on again. It does 500 square feet and I live in a tiny house built , which is 400 . And it struggle . Only thing I can do is put it in my bathtub due to leaking but that's not effective area to cool the house . Can't get it to stop leaking no matter what I do . Biggest waste of money ever, do not buy this product run away . ... show more

This AC unit works. It is very quite and it does the job for the large room I have it in. From now on Honeywell is my go to product. The only problem I had was with Amazon delivery. They left it in my front yard. No where near the front or back steps. It was too heavy for this crippled senior to move. So I paid some men to put it in my house. Then I read the statement from the delivery person saying they handed it to me. LIARS. Unfortunately Amazon was the only place that had this AC unit. hopefully I never have to order a large item from them again. ... show more

it indicated one year warranty. the AC broke down less than year. we filed for claim for repair or replacement. the seller rejected the warranty so we filed claim directly with manufacture(Honeywell). the manufacture asked for photo, serial, receipt, etc. that we provided all documents as requested. Then, manufacture gave us hard time with explaining the installation defect, not acceptable, etc. on and on. the bottom-line is manufacture or seller not honored the warranty. ... show more
