  • A great engine at an excellent price
We ordered this as a replacement for a Honda GX160 engine on a piece of farm machinery. We should have ordered the GX160 but were misled by some of the labeling on the old engine, which we believed meant that it was 5.5 horse. However, this engine installed fine after we realigned the mounting bracket on the machinery. It started right up and is working great. It is more powerful and has more vibration than the old one, but what did we expect? The only thing we believed was lacking is that there was no muffler deflector, something we needed in our configuration to keep the operator's pants from overheating. We ordered this online separately ($5.95 plus $7.95 shipping). But considering that our alternative was buying the engine from a local dealer for more than $700, we got a pretty good deal. ... show more

  • A great engine-- bolt-on replacement for an ancient Tecumseh
This is a great engine except for one tiny thing: on my tiller the exhaust points right at me and I get puffs of exhaust in my face. I would hope that any redesign would allow an optional 90° redirection of the exhaust. I will be making a deflector-- no big deal. This engine starts on the first easy pull, and even at low RPM when tilling through tough soil it doesn't stall. I should have got this years ago!! Honda engines are very well engineered. ---additional information: Deflectors specifically designed for the Honda GX series engines are available from numerous sources. It baffles me (no pun intended) why a deflector could not be shipped with each $500 engine, as the supplier has no knowledge of how the engine will be mounted, and this would cover all situations. It's just a few bucks, so no big deal, but a small irritant. At the very least a note could be put in the engine ordering information as to whether an exhaust deflector should be included in the shipment, even for an additional charge. ... show more

  • Good Engine
We have a yard vacuum and had tried two other replacement motors that either blew up or was too hard to get started. The Honda usually starts on the first pull and vacuums leaves and thatch down to the dirt on the lawn. It is a great motor.

  • Very disappointed it took 2 weeks to get the motor
Very disappointed it took 2 weeks to get the motor. It was damaged and took 2 more weeks for them to tell me to send it back. I needed the motor for my trencher for work, so I had to keep the damaged one. I got no compensation for the damaged one.
