This is a decent piece of furniture. It is indeed wood (mostly) and has pretty good functionality. I was able to put it together after several hours, with a little help. Instructions were easy to follow. What is notable is that there were two of the same parts that were damaged - the blocks or planks of wood that have the roller gear for the drawers were ripped off. It seems it's common for those pieces to be damaged or loose during shipping. Although, there is a way to screw them back on if the damage is minimal (I recommend you purchase wood glue to help reinforce those blocks if they are detached on arrival). Things I Like: Once it was put together it looked great. It is an actual piece of furniture, not like the usual assembled pieces you get for pretty cheap. I believe this will hold up very well to moving or transfer. I was able to fit my microwave (a Panasonic 1.2 cu. ft - for reference) on top, as you can see in the pic. The microwave does extend about 3/4" from the edge, but the feet of the microwave are nearly 2" from the edge, giving it plenty of room to stand firmly. The bottom cabinets have quite a bit of storage. The wine cubby is sturdy. I believe it's worth $400 given it is made mostly of wood. I wouldn't pay more than that if I found this at a furniture store, especially if I had to put it together. But, worth it nonetheless. Things I Don't Like: One thing I can complain about are the drawers. They are functional and have at least a little room for storage, but one doesn't open smoothly, it has to be yanked slightly. It may something to do with the damaged wood plank that has the roller gear. The plank itself wasn't damaged during shipping, only detached from the base of the piece. I screwed it back in to the correct position, however the wheel seems to be catching on something when I pull out the drawer, indicating a possible misalignment. Anyway, I believe I can fix it but I haven't tried yet. Additionally, and this may be a minor issue for most, are the glass pieces in the doors on the hutch. The glass is not firmly fixed causing it to rattle every time you open or close the doors, the drawers, or bottom cabinets. But, that also can be fixed relatively easy. Overall: I would recommend this piece to others - even with the need for few tweaks such as wood glue etc,. Other than that, it's solid and looks nice. ... show more

Lots of pieces to put together. I had one door that had damage to the top of it but I think I can put black paint over it or something. I tried putting my Breville Espresso machine on the counter but it doesn’t fit underneath the hutch part unless you remove the lid to the hopper and tilt it at an angle. ... show more

The unit comes in three boxes...so much better than other companies that try to put everything in one box. It arrived 4 days early, which was great. Everything is packaged so well. It is the best packing job of any that I have seen. The buffet was very straight forward to put together. I had an issue with one of the larger pieces of the hutch and they replaced it. Best customer service I have experienced in a long time. An actual real person answers the phone. They sent it FedEx and it arrived in two days. I would say the hutch is a bit harder to assemble by yourself. Get someone to help. I taped the B side to a cabinet in order to attach the other side after all the inner pieces had been attached. I love it and it looks great in my kitchen. I only have nice things to say about my experience with this company and this piece of furniture. I am really happy with it and how it looks in my kitchen. I typically do not write reviews, however I purchased this after reading reviews of users complaining about the instructions. I am using this in a media room for storage of glasses, wine, spirits, etc. I am not sure where the confusion is for some. If you look at the picture and read the instructions there should be no issue. Perhaps they've changed the instructions or hardware packaging since my more recent order. Instructions were included for both the buffet and hutch. The hardware needed is packaged in sealed and labeled bags. It is also referenced in the instructions as to which bag of parts you need. The cams and cam locks are high quality, much better than those that typically come with a cheap desk or shelving unit. As for the build quality it is excellent. The product is made of solid wood, not cheap particle/chip board. The unit is heavy and solid. Like any other wood if you abuse it, it will scratch. However it doesn’t seem softer than other furniture I’ve purchased and assembled. I can’t speak to damage regarding shipping as mine arrived undamaged and packaged well. The holes required for installation were all pre drilled. When installing the black back panels for the unit there are pre-drilled indentations to indicate where screws should be placed. Slats are cut for the wood to slide into for the back panels and drawer bottoms. They are not simply nailed in place with small tacks. As for the complaints regarding drawer depth, if you are looking to put a standard cutlery tray in this unit you will be disappointed. The drawers are a few inches less than the depth of the unit so take a look at the dimensions of the buffet online if this is concerning to you. Hardware is provided to secure the hutch to the buffet and optionally the whole unit to the wall if you are concerned with it tipping over. I found the buffet for $100 more locally (excluding the hutch), so the price is right as well. I was skeptical that I would be satisfied with this because it is quite inexpensive, however I was pleasantly surprised and I'm happy with this purchase. ... show more
