Bought these for a wedding reception. My biggest fear is that only a portion of the 72 lights would work and that they would not be bright enough for the evening. Neither of these was a problem. All 72 worked (although one of the 72 was a little dimmer than the others)! They put out enough light so that they shined nicely through mercury glass votive candle holders. Event planner turned them on at start of event and 5 hours later they all were still going. I brought a bunch home with me and have been using them since (still going at least another 5 hrs). I initially thought that the flicker was too weak but once they were placed in the mercury glass votive holders, the flicker was really obvious, very natural and quite lovely (I would not have known it wasn't a real candle). Just to note, these are not wax - they are plastic. If you are putting them in a colored candle holder, you'll never know! Highly recommend them for performance and value. ... show more

We purchased these to decorate tables at a church class dinner for 50. I was a little concerned that they would look a little chintzy for this purpose but turned out great. I can't vouch for whether the claimed battery life (which is pretty outlandish) is realistic, but they held up well for 5 hours and appeared to have a lot of life left in them. Yes, as some other reviewers have noted, the lights are not exceptionally bright, but this was a good thing. It made them appear understated without standing out like blinking beacons. We love these.
