Like most hand shredders just make sure you don't put anything too thick or you could break the device and or the contents simply won't shred properly and you'll just have some dented lines in the papers. I definitely prefer this to my old, bulky, loud, messy, plug in shredder. Pros: Works well for small amounts of paper. Smaller than my toaster so can be stored anywhere. Very quiet. Easy to use. No electricity required. Minimal shredder dust. Cons: Not a fast process (have to rip each 8.5x11 sheet into quarters and feed through 1 quarter at a time or struggle with crank trying to do 2 layers at once).     • No motor! Easy for kids to use. Fits in a backpack.
Bought for my nephew. He is autistic and likes shredding paper. He stims with the shreds which is easier to clean up than sand or slime when it gets on the floor. It is small so full size paper needs to be torn/cut first to fit. The handle doesn't stay in, but that actually makes it easier to take it from house to house. He just puts the handle in the bin, then into his go bag. No worrying about it breaking off and being unable to use it. Works fine on coloring pages completely covered in crayon ( both sides ). The crayon wax hasn't effected the operation at all. He has used it almost daily since getting it with only a few paper jams and he can fix it himself as there is no motor to worry about. Just turn the handle backwards a bit to pull the jam free. The paper shreds can be used in alot of craft projects or as gift bag filler as well.     • Always get what you pay for
This is good for manually shredding thin single pieces of paper, like store receipts, atm receipts and the like. Anything more might be too much for it. The head of the crank is hexagonal and the crank handle is plastic, so if you try to shred a thicker piece of paper the plastic will slip off of the head. Because it would take more force and the plastic is soft. Managed to use a metal tool instead to turn the head with great success, even with thicker paper. But after a few jobs the "blades" got out of alignment and there were gaps where it would not cut. I was able to take it apart to realign them but i might not be worth it for some. It does the job but I wish the product was better constructed. You can only shread 2 pages at a time. If you do 3 you need some arm power. I had to cut the paper in half to feed it in. The width isn’t much. The handle keeps popping off. The lid keeps popping off. I wish it clicked on to the bottom part but it doesn’t . So it kept popping off. I had to put a rubber band on it to stay on while I cranked the handle. It got the job done but I was tired n exhausted after using it. I had a lot of pages to do. ... show more

You will want to make sure to rip up the paper before shredding since this is a smaller paper shredder but its small, saves space and works so very well! I love it! I can use the shredded paper for paper mache projects! <3 So cool!

I was looking for a small paper shredder for my home office. Something that did not take up space and was expensive. It came already assembled. You just had to click on the handle. You do have to be careful and shred one paper at a time for the width of the shredder. But if your patient Like me it will work just fine. I spent almost an hour and a half shredding a lot of old documents and it held up pretty good. It does make a squeaky noise but I’m ok with that. ... show more
