I used this device about four times to try and remove some hair from the backs of my thighs but I really didn’t see any difference between when I started and the last time I used it (over a period of a few weeks) It is hard to hold because it’s pretty wide, the light is really bright. I did appreciate the ICE feature after using the light. I think I’ll stick to waxing.

I definitely find the cooling function to be super helpful, especially when I’m using this in my bikini area. As with all such devices, I find the gun type button to be easier to use than the button on top of the device. But overall, the cooling function still makes it preferable to use over IPL devices without it.

I used it on level 3 (on a scale of 1-5 ) and it has been effective on my caramel skin tone. The hair around the area has already started to be noticeable less and less new growth after just two uses. It has a cooling fan that runs and the metal tip that touches the skin gets very cold, so the laser is not as hot on the skin and reduces the chance for any burns or irritation. It does have a little tingle with each zap and that intensifies as the level increases, just like at a professional salon. I have not experienced any irritations or discoloration. Pros: Convenience of doing it at home. It feels cool on the skin. You can do multiple areas at once. Everything you needed was enclosed in the box. Cons: I wish the hand-held was cordless instead of having to remain plugged in at all times during use. Overall, my experience has been great and this is will definitely get the job done. Looking forward to using it and enjoying my hair-free results.

This hair removal tool has been a game changer for me! I picked a small, unnoticeable area to try out compared to hair that hasn't been bothered. In just three weeks I have noticed a great difference! Little to no hair re-growth! I would highly recommend purchasing!

I gave this some time and a few goes, but ultimately, it didn't remove my hair. I don't have the thickest hair, but it's up there. I was still in the range for this to work, but after consistent use and following the directions to the T, I still have normal hair growth on the areas I tested.

Although a bit painful, it does the job (sorta). If you are looking for a more permanent solution with guaranteed results, though, just spend the money and see a professional. The many warnings it has is a bit of a deterrent anyway, so I am paranoid because I don't really know what I am doing.

There is now a crazy number of choices for IPL devices on Amazon. Mostly they're pretty similar, but there are a few features that differentiate the better ones: ** Does the IPL offer "ICE" active cooling ** Does the IPL offer additional filters/modes for different effects ** Does the IPL offer unusual and useful ergonomic features ** What kind of power does the IPL use (higher power should translate into better performance). Power levels are typically in the range of 18W-60W. Higher is better. This is a mid-priced unit that adds ICE Cooling functionality a better-than-average 48W power supply. Specifics of this IPL device: ** Only performs hair removal ** Includes ICE skin cooling functionality ** LCD screen shows the number of flashes left and power level (1-5) ** Rated for 48W (medium-high) ** Rated for 999,999 flashes Using very slow-motion photography, I was able to capture a snapshot of the light (see photos). But the light duration is extremely short (and very powerful...be sure to wear glasses to avoid accidentally looking at the flash). You run the tool over the area where you want to remove hair and make sure you expose all the hair follicles in that region. You will not see any immediate results. The light signals your hair to stop growing, but it requires multiple treatments over several weeks before you will be expected to see results. Eventually, you should find a substantial reduction in the hair in the treated areas. In the box, you get the tool, a power cord, a pair of eye protection glasses, a cheap disposable razor, plus instructions. This IPL offers "ICE" cooling. Ice functionality is another term for "Local epidermal cooling." This is local cooling of the epidermal region (surface skin) in the region where the IPL light pulse is being applied. The high-powered light can be irritating to some people, and cooling the skin in that region can reduce the immediate irritation. (It does not improve/decrease efficacy of the treatment). This cooling effect is achieved via a Peltier junction semiconductor and a good thermoconducting material at the head of the IPL device (frequently sapphire or aluminum) that transmits the cold that the semiconductor generates to the skin. (A heatsink and fan inside the IPL device remove the heat that the Peltier junction also produces). Epidermal cooling is not required for efficient use, but it may make it less unpleasant to use the device for some users. Two things about this IPL were annoying to me. The first is that the shape of the device (fairly wide and oblong) isn't the most comfortable in my hand. I prefer other devices that are either more slender or gun-shaped. The second is that I found this particular IPL to be very sensitive to making sure the head is making full and flat contact with the skin. If it's not, it won't flash. I found this device to be far more sensitive to ensuring the device remains in full flat contact, and that often leads to missed flashes. Overall, this is a decent IPL device offering upgrades of power supply and ICE cooling and would make a reasonable choice--with the caveats in the previous paragraph noted. Summary: Pros: ** Integrates epidermal cooling (ICE) ** LCD readout ** 48W power supply Cons: ** The light green LCD readout is a bit difficult to read ** The IPL is wider than many and a bit uncomfortable in the hand ** The IPL is very sensitive to keeping full contact between the flash head and the skin--or it won't flash.
