My 4th Drone and all I can say is wow, it is great! The Good Stuff: It was super easy to set up and get in the air. The various calibration options were simple to navigate.I was also impressed with how it handled in a steady breeze with gusts up to 14mph for such a light Drone. The recording was smooth and I like that the camera can aim straight down below the drone. The app display also has a small map in the corner to show you the path your drone is flying so even if you lose sight for a moment, you know where it is. The Bad: May not be bad for you but after flying an HS600D that is dark in color, this light gray Drone is easy to lose sight of in the sky. I always like to keep the Drone within a visible range. The other thing I did not like was the battery needed to be plugged into the Drone and you charge through the Drone. I did purchase the HS900 Charging Hub which provides an option to charge 3 batteries in the dock. The dock does only charge one at a time and then it moves on to the next but there are also options to discharge yoru batteries and there is a storage mode for battery maintenance which will hopefully extend the life of the batteries.

This is my first experience flying drones and I really did not wanted to invest a lot of money but I wanted to get to know the most common characteristic of this flying experience. After looking lots of comments and youtube videos I got decided for this unit which has all common features for a great price. I received the drone as expected and started flying it with no problems and get to know all the features I wanted. Easy to fly, good Video (stabilization not as a gimble but its OK), battery time ok (I purchased 2 units and even better!), flight control easy to learn, cell app works OK, gps mode (not a millimetrical precision, but fly it in open space and it OK!), drone stabilization (not 100% still and stable but definitely works OK)... in conclusion its a great unit! I got to bought it because of the price and holy stone reputation and definitely it was a great decision.... I received more than expected for the price I payed!! Now guy most important!!!!! After one month the drone was unstable and had a pair of takeoff crash aborts!!! so I went thru the HolyStone youtube channel and looked for maintenance advises (one month with a lot of flights.. its normal!!) then I tighted all screws and check everything was in order... an started flying again very stable, but unfortunately the camera WIFI was not displayed on my cell phone, I wrote Holy Stone USA customer service because I was looking to buy a new camera, they asked for my Amazon PO # and to explained the situation and also, they requested me to make some tests which did not solve the camera problem. I was surprise when they informed me the camera was not sell as a part but I was even more surprise when they immediately informed me that I due the situation they will ship me a new unit!!! and next day the unit was shipped!! Definitely its a great drone with a lot of features!! you get more than you expected for the value and the guys from HS Customer Service really support you!!!

I am completely wowed by this drone. I purchased a smaller, lighter beginner drone which experienced a fly away during a slight 6mph wind a few days ago. I instantly went drone shopping for something a little heftier that could take on a little crosswind, as well as a better camera, follow-me mode, and that could actually hover instead of drift around aimlessly. I did my research and came across this gem. I took a chance, and it fulfills everything above, and more! Today I flew it with a 12mph crosswind and saw no erratic movement whatsoever in this HS270. Flight time was around 14 minutes while using the camera, it’s bigger than most other entry level drones due to the battery, but this is something I actually wanted. Controls are ultra responsive, and the drone doesn’t allow you to over correct, it compensates for really quick movement without over flaring when coming to a sudden direction change. Check out the video, and photos to see the camera is pretty good for what you pay for, and both the controller, and battery can be charged using any micro-usb cable (one is included in packaging). At no point was I worried about losing control if I went a reasonable distance away, or the wind carrying it off to Oz. If you’re just getting into the drone game like myself, this is a good starter investment platform to learn on without much to lose. You’re getting the performance of a 400-500 drone for roughly a quarter of those numbers!

As a new, recreational operator, I really like this drone. It seems to have a nice set of functions for a relatively inexpensive price. The drone is small and light and folds for storage, which means I can drop it in a day pack and take it with me on a hike and maybe add an extra dimension to my outing. I've flown this little guy 3 times since registering it, having performed quick and limited function testing below 3 meters, when I first received it. So, I haven't gotten too far into the automated features. So far, so good. Set-up and calibration were fairly easy, and I haven't run into any major control problems once the calibration was set (foreshadowing comment, to be sure). The restricted range for the beginner setting (about 30 meters) has surely kept me out of trouble, thus far. As many have noted, one of the limitations of the HS270 is battery life - I'm getting about 16 minutes of flight time per full charge (about 4 hours). So, it's important not to overextend on distance and knowledge of controls, or you risk falling short on your return. Of course, you can set automatic over-rides to ensure that the drone returns before the battery runs out. Now, the best advice that I can give to a beginner is to go find some nice open space to test out your new HS270. This means that you should get the registration out of the way and head to an open field. It's funny how at first you think that the biggest risk posed by drones to people is that of one dropping out of the sky. In fact, one of the FAA restrictions is that you must not fly over people. Falling on someone from overhead would be bad. However, a less apparent risk is flying a drone horizontally below 2 meters with people around. The HS270 has open, plastic blades that operate at high angular velocity. Believe me, when I say that not only do they leave marks, but they will also draw blood following even very low-speed impacts. A strike to the face of a bystander would be beyond regrettable. There is a way to quickly disable the motors by holding the take-off and landing button for 2 seconds, but that won't save you when you are low and in tight spaces and trying to avoid hitting someone. Just keep it above 2 meters when you are testing it out and getting the hang of maneuvering. As for my own self-induced brush with humility: tis but a scratch...or two...well..four, actually. Some nice additional features are: 1) it came in a nicely padded box that can be used for carrying it around and for storage, 2) an extra set of propeller blades was included, and 3) the opportunity to receive a free extra battery by posting a review - and that earns an extra star in my book.

I have flown several smaller drones that can be classified as toys and then I decided to step up and get something I can fly outside. The HS 270 is definitely not a toy! It also is a very responsive drone that hovers nicely too. The setup was easy to follow. Do it exactly as the manual says and you will not go wrong! If you have never flown a drone outside, it may be a good idea to wait on a calm day to do so. It is manageable to fly it with some wind but it will bounce around. Just point into the wind and be prepared to give it some forward thrust - be gentle. Due to the weight of the drone it can handle a bit of wind. ( I have flown smaller drones outside and I can tell you the wind will blow it away if you are not prepared for it! ) When the drone first lifts off, it hovers just a few feet off the ground. I say this cause I was not sure what it will do, so just in case you have wondered the same thing...now you know. So far I have not checked how long the battery lasts but it does have a long flying time. Will update later about that eventually. So far the flight has been responsive and predictable with no surprises. Will take it out to a larger area after the winter to test its range next. This drone may not be as fancy as others out there but it is not as expensive either. So if you are looking for a large size drone to fly outdoors, maybe this one is a good one to try.

I ordered an HS270 hoping it would be an OK drone I could recommend to somebody who was looking for an inexpensive drone, since that's a question I get asked a lot. When the HS270 arrived I charged it and the controller and read the instructions. There are some secret handshakes and winks to calibrate its sensors and get the GPS working, but nothing too difficult. The drone would not hover at liftoff, wasn't drifting, was trying hard to crash itself, went zooming off sideways as soon as it lifted off a few inches. Thinking that this was just another cheap, unflyable drone, I posted a scathing review here. A week or so later, a very nice Holy Stone customer rep contacted me and asked if I would accept a replacement, without returning the drone I'd received. I said Yes, and another HS270 showed up in a few days. I charged it up and took it to a wide open space, expecting the worst. The replacement calibrated its sensors fine, gave me the flashy light when it got GPS, and when I lifted it off it behaved well. I was delighted to see it, and flew it around a bit with no problems. It does drift a bit, is not rock solid in a hover like an expensive drone with a downward vision system and a couple hundred bucks worth of sensitive electronics. But, it does fly pretty good, and it gets OK video and photos. It doesn't have a fancy gimbal, but it does appear to have some digital stabilization. It's not a camera drone I'd use to get imagery for sale, but it is good value at $149 so I gave it 5 stars on this revised review. I'd recommend the HS270 to somebody who's looking for an inexpensive drone with a couple or few hundred feet of range. It's a better drone than the cheap Eachine and DroneX, but don't expect it to be as stable and tame as a $900+ Mavic. I'd recommend not flying it in close quarters until you've had plenty of experience with it in open spaces, flying it up and over things. I've had a good time with it and am happy to recommend Holy Stone drones for what they are. Their little Predator is also a good, cheap drone without a camera, excellent for getting started flying by sight within a hundred feet or so. The HS270 can get up and over things, would be a good choice. I apologize for leaving a bad review first, without contacting Holy Stone. If you have troubles with one of their drones, please give their excellent customer service contact a try. They're a good outfit...

I bought this drone because the price was right for an entry level drone and because of the reviews were better than the others I browsed. At first my review was going to be a 1 star because the drone I received I believed was a return and then sent to me. What gave me the idea it was a return you ask? When I first opened the box and pulled the foam out there was silicate beads all over the inside so something was off. Second there was no protective film over the drone like I had seen in many others box opening displays on YouTube and on the web. Also there were a few nicks on a couple blades I did not see at first until I took it outside to test fly. Lastly there was no free battery paper showing if you leave a review you could receive a free battery. Oh well I charged the puppy up and took it out for a flight. I waited 5.5 hours for 3:42 of flight time. Even the remote would not hold a charge and the charging port was broken after further inspection. The GPS tracking would not work either. ABSOLUTELY NO WIND and the drone would drift and not stay centered like it is supposed to. Something was off about this drone. So I contacted Holystone about the issues I was having and they were quick to reply. 5 Stars just on their customer service! They advised me that it was possible to have received a return due to the holiday rush and I should follow up with Amazon to receive a new drone. They also advised to contact them further if there were any issues with obtaining a replacement drone. I went onto Amazon stated my case and presto a new drone was ordered and sent to me in 2 days. New drone shows that it is indeed a NEW drone! Charged up and actually flew for 15 minutes or more. No more drifting and flies perfectly. Defiantly recommend this drone for the beginner. The only issues I have is the lack of an optical flow sensor on the bottom and the return to home feature when the battery is low. I could not override its path back to home when the drone was low on voltage and it almost got stuck in an oak tree. Luckily it hit the outer branches and spun around and the tree basically spit the drone out. Had there been that sensor or had obstacle detection I believe it would have avoided the tree. Oh well, if you're flying this drone and your "home" spot is around trees just be ware of the battery life and its return flight back when low.

I have never left a review before with Amazon but want people to know of the experience that I had so they don't waste their time and money. This is my first drone and am a beginner in the field. I shopped around for while and found from reviews and specs that this would be the perfect drone for me. When I received this first one, the setup was super easy and took it out for the first time. It is perfect for beginners and has an amazing camera and features. After 15 minutes the battery ran dead which from what I read is normal for drones of this type. So I took it back in a charged...the drone charged fine but the transmitter was not charging. Read through the instruction manual and followed all instructions. Attempted to contact their customer and was hung up on twice. So I returned it through Amazon and requested a replacement drone which I received 2 days later, which is today. I charged the drone and transmitter to ensure it would charge correctly before taking out for a test run. Everything charged fully and took it out and worked great. Came back inside to charge and the drone battery would not show the status lights when charging. Tried other outlets and actually used a 10W adapter and seemed to be working properly. From what I understood the transmitter was still fully charged, since it was only 15 min of flight time. so I didn't bother charging it. Took it out a second time and the transmitter was dead. Extremely frustrated I went back in to charge the transmitter and was not holding a charge AGAIN!! I am extremely frustrated and returning to Amazon for a full refund. I will not be purchasing another from this company and will be looking elsewhere. I hope this review will help consumers and HOLY STONE to help make a better product.
