Wow. Just…wow. Hollow completely consumed me in the best possible way. I devoured this book in just a couple of days, and if it weren’t for kids, work, and general life responsibilities, I would’ve inhaled it in a single sitting. I even woke up at 3 a.m. two days in a row just to squeeze in more reading time before the chaos of the day started. That’s how deeply this story grabbed me. This dark romantasy is lush, eerie, atmospheric, and beautifully immersive. Ferris Creed is a fierce, determined heroine driven by the desperate hope of saving her sister from the cursed forest that has plagued her world for generations. To get answers, she joins the Great Hunt, only to collide head-on with Hendrix Bane, a morally grey, brooding, cursed fae prince whose presence shifts the entire story. The cover art and sprayed edges? Ethereal. I ended up buying two versions and I have zero regrets. If you love dark romantasy, morally grey fae, “we shouldn’t but we’re absolutely going to” tension, dangerous quests, or vibes similar to Shield of Sparrows or ACOTAR, you’ll fall hard for this one. Hollow delivers exactly what I expect from the Twisted Sisters— a gritty, emotional, and wildly addictive story that pulls you straight into the chaos. The world is intense and atmospheric, the characters are messy in all the best ways, and the tension (both emotional and romantic) keeps you flipping pages long after you meant to stop. I loved the rawness of the writing and the way the plot keeps twisting just when you think you’ve found your footing. The character dynamics are sharp and painful and magnetic all at once. There were a few pacing moments where I wanted just a bit more clarity or breathing room, but overall the story hit hard and stuck with me. LOVE IT! LOVE IT! The story is so interesting and I love the banter between Hendrix and Ferris. The story felt unique and magical and completely different to most other books in the same category. I have had this book on pre-order since June 2025, because of the beautiful cover and interesting synopsis! ---- After Chapter 34 (my favorite so far) I RAN to pre-order book 2 and to write this review! 3.5 stars Trigger Warnings : death, violence, captivity, kidnapping, murder Definitely a very different vibe than what I was expecting. I haven’t read the Sins of the Zodiac series, but this book is so different from Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac and Zodiac Academy that it’s almost shocking. The writing style has totally changed, but it definitely fits the story much more than their usual writing style would have. I just wasn’t expecting such a stark change. The beginning was a little slow, for me, but once the story got going I was hooked. The initial switch of pov from Ferris to Hendrix was a little jarring though, mostly because there’s zero mention of him and then all of sudden you’re reading from some random fae’s perspective and you’re not really invested because he’s been missing for the first 15% of the book. I love a unique magic system, and in terms of the animal spirits it definitely is unique. I really hope we get more of them in the next book. I would love to get more of an idea of what all the animal spirits are like, personality wise. It also feels very reminiscent of Celtic mythology as well with the whole great hunt concept. I feel the need to point out that in another Romantasy book, that came out before this, the FMC’s hair color changes from dark brown to silver when she bonds with an animal. Obviously, Ferris’s hair color changes when she gets the dragon’s amulet. It’s not a ground breaking idea, but it was something that I realized while reading so do with that what you will. Was Hendrix being the Necromancer supposed to be a big reveal ? I honestly couldn’t tell if that was something the authors were attempting to hint around, if so that was some heavy handed hinting. Hendrix’s reaction to Ferris taking the boon for herself seems kind of ridiculous. He openly admits that if he were to get the boon he wouldn’t give it to Ferris. Why is Hendrix expecting her to give up the boon for him when he wouldn’t do the same for her ? I thought they were on the same page that it was every person for themselves once they made it to the Great Elm…. Hendrix blaming Ferris just seems to come out of nowhere. Overall, though, I really did enjoy this book. I can’t wait to see what happens next for Ferris and Hendrix.     • Stunning book but arrived damaged.
Beautiful book, sprayed edges are stunning. Sadly arrived damaged (packaging was fine) but would've had to pay out of pocket to return it to get a replacement as I live in the UK. Very disappointed.
