I mean the whole book was jaw dropping, This Man!! Dacre really was giving me butterflies with a side of fire! He is such a arrogant controlling little sh** lol ๐๐ But HE was swoonyyyyyy! Ok Ok, So this book is about A runaway princess, whos finds herself in the wrong territory. The rebellions. They hate the king for what he has done to the kingdom. No one believes a word she says. No one trusts her and the only thing she is building up is more lies. But when some are trying to believe her that she is against the king. The rebellion's leader -Dacre- doesn't. He suspicious of her. And he knows how to brake down a lair. And he sure breaks her, alright. ๐๐๐๐ The Nickname he gives her thoo !!!! Ugh like butterflies yall! His nickname for her is - LITTLE TRAITOR - and he uses it so good and often ๐๐ It might be a slow burn, but the burn is so fricking good. He of course started to be so possessive of her since the beginning, he for sure didn't know why. But he wasn't stopping. He was teaching her how to train to be a warrior. He was touching and pushing her like she was his. When she wasn't. But this man was falling. Falling so hard. And that was killing him because even thought she was keeping lies. He couldn't stay away. I might not be talking about our princess because this man just took the whole story, He was there everywhere. And I was there for it. I wanted him in every moments with her. And this book sure delivered. Like the plot is amazing, the other characters as well but, He just stole everything. He was the roman empire. Especially mine. His dirty mouth, his gazing towards her. Ughhhh There is so much, the heated moments, the push and pull, the loose control, cave scenes, pining, wanting, and shortness of breath, the stolen glances!!! just everything was perfect. It fats paced, its not boring at all and it has that burning, that giddy feeling in your stomach when you don't know what's gonna happen and you just got to wait to find out. One of the best -Enemies to Lovers- book I have ever read. So I saw this as a recommendation for an ACOTOR/ Fourth Wing hangover. While I didnโt have super high expectations, I was looking for a quick, spicy, easy read. For what itโs worth, thatโs what this is. It moves right along, decent spice and really doesnโt dive too deep in to creating an alternate works. SPOILERS Hereโs my problem: 1) The lead female (Nyra) is given next to no character development. She gets an opportunity to train and become the badass we all want her to be but because Dacre (male lead) is all obsessed with her and treats her horribly. And yet, every time they basically make eye contact she becomes this simpering, submissive idiot. Not mention, before, during and after every tryst they have heโs literally insulting her but she jUsT cAnโT hElP iT. 2) Dacre is just meh. Heโs absolutely insufferable in this book. What made this book tedious at times is that he basically proclaims โhey youโre mineโ and Nyra goes โnoโ then heโs everywhere and basically stalking her, cornering her, they turn up the spice, then he insults her and sheโs left to feel empty. And this is the trope! Like, over and over and over! Itโs so distracting and weird and gross that it constantly removed me from the flow of the book. I canโt even begin to talk about how it ends. Which I wonโt spoil but but it ends with aforementioned trope. Also, I read the sequel thinking these characters would start getting some chemistry but as someone described it, โtheyโre in lustโ If you like enemies to lovers, obsession-y, narcissistic male leads, this will be your jam. Pop off, girl. If youโre looking for an initially weak female lead to rise up, step in to her power and walk this earth with her partner as equals. Move on. Sheโs no Feyre or Violet. I donโt want to be her nor do I want to sleep with Dacre.

Verena and Dacre. This is a good book, i really like the plot with her being the lost princess and not really having any loyalties. I do hate that she is so weak, hopefully that changes in the next book, its nice to have a man protecting but also like i need her to be able to hold her own just a little more. I think Dacre will forgive her pretty quick for not telling him and interested to see how that plays out. the world building is decent altough how the magic works and how the king takes it is not very well explained.

This book was amazing from the first chapter to the very last. It was a really great Book One! It is light on the fantasy and heavy on the romance in this one. I assuming we might see more of the fantasy elements in book two. Iโm super excited to see what will happen with Nyra and Dacre after the ending. Nyra is a really fun FMC. You start the book knowing sheโs keeping secrets so itโs fun getting to know her slowly and watching her get stronger. Dacre is ๐ฅ. The filthy mouth on him is *chefs kiss*! The tension between the two is so so good. Heโs training her for combat so theyโre always in close proximity but you never knew what exactly they were going to do to each other. While you can expect enemies to lovers, they still never fully trust each other so that tug and pull is THE best. Neither of them WANT to want the other but they do. I loved it! The side characters were fun too. Wren is the best and I hope we get a lot more of her in the future. Also, Kai! This was an easy quick read! The pacing is great and everything was easy to digest. This book sucks you in so you never want to put it down. Well, this is the easiest five stars I have ever given while rating a book. From the moment I picked this up I could not put it down. I read over half of it in one sitting and woke up before anyone else to pick it back up again and finish it. The world building is so good. I loved reading about Marmoris Kingdom and The Hidden City and the war between the two. It felt like the perfect amount of detail to explain both and their purpose to the story. The magic system was really interesting and I loved how everyone has a certain kind and had jobs related to what they could do. The character building? Perfection. I loved seeing "Nyra's" story unfold and watching her evolve from Princess, to being on the streets, to warrior. I loved her personality and how she carried herself while facing every situation. I loved the danger she faces while hiding her identity and walking into her Father's enemy territory to join them. You'll find yourself holding your breath a lot because of her and what's at stake if she ever gets caught. Daddy Dacre. The anticipation I had waiting to meet him. He absolutely lived up to the hype and more. I had high expectations in my head before starting this book based off what I have heard already, and nothing does him more justice than reading this book yourself. He's the commanders son, he's morally grey, he's an a*hole who's main mission is to get inside the kingdom and find the princess. He is training his enemies daughter to fight. *insert internal screaming here* THE TENSION. THE LIES. THE ATTRACTION between Nyra and Dacre hurts so good. I am absolutely obsessed with these two. I think they just became my favorite characters ever. This book is easily one of my favorites. If I can convince you to pick up a book this year, PLEASE let it be this one. Holly what did you put in this book?? All the stars, the hype is real, drop what your doing and go get this book. If anyone knows of a way to erase memory so I can read this book again for the first time, I'm ready.
